Archived News:
Steam Community forum post from a WBIE developer account has the news that
they are abandoning their efforts at adding working support for multiple GPUs in
Batman: Arkham Knight (thanks
DSOGaming). The game suffered from performance issues upon release, and
while some of them have been addressed, word is SLI/Crossfire support will not
be added: We’ve been working with our development and graphics driver
partners over the last few months to investigate utilizing multi-GPU support
within Batman: Arkham Knight. The result was that even the best case estimates
for performance improvements turned out to be relatively small given the high
risk of creating new issues for all players. As a result we’ve had to make the
difficult decision to stop work on further multi-GPU support. We are
disappointed that this was not practical and apologize to those who have been
waiting for this feature.
Bethesda.net reflects on the launch of Fallout 4, thanking fans who
have purchased the RPG sequel. They acknowledge the game shipped with a number
of bugs, and outline plans to address these, saying they will patch the Windows
edition first, saying this will begin with the first beta patch on Steam next
week: It's true that the freedom our games offer you can lead to
unintentional consequences that are sometimes bad, when the game combines too
many unexpected elements at once. Given the scale and complexity of the systems
at work, especially when allowing you to build your own settlements, we're happy
that Fallout 4 is our most robust and solid release ever, and we'd like to thank
our amazing QA staff who worked as hard as anyone to break the game so we could
fix it during development. But a hundred testers will never replicate the many
millions playing the game now, and we're hard at work addressing the top issues.
Our process for updating the game will include releasing a beta patch on Steam,
followed by full release on PC, then release on the consoles. This process has
worked well for us in the past and allows us to get more fixes out faster.
Expect to see more updates, that are smaller and more frequent, than a few big
ones. This allows us to make sure each fix is working right, as any change can
have unintentional side effects in a game this huge. We expect the first beta
patch to be up next week.

This trailer
celebrates today's planned launch of Mordheim: City of the Damned, a new
tactical RPG from developer Rogue Factor and publisher Focus Home Interactive.
This gives a last chance to check out the Warhammer-based game and decide
whether to get in on the 20% prepurchase discount. Here's word: Focus
Home Interactive and Rogue Factor today proudly unveil the launch trailer for
their video game adaptation of Games Workshop's cult classic Mordheim. Set in
the Warhammer world's decimated Empire city, Mordheim: City of the Damned is a
turn-based tactical game where you lead Warbands into bloody and lethal
skirmishes. The game blends RPG elements, fast-paced tactical combat and
intricate unit customization in a time wrought by chaos and rivalry where only
the strongest survive.
After the Comet of Sigmar crashed on Mordheim, the City of Damned turned into a
terrifying battlefield where rival warbands fight fiercely for the control of
key neighborhoods, looking for glory and fortune by acquiring the very valuable
Wyrdstone fragments.
Mordheim is a hostile place, so make sure you're ready when traveling across all
the different districts. From the Temple of Sigmar, to the Market District or
the Count Steinhardt's palace, Mordheim is not only filled with enemy Warbands
but also with other evil creatures lurking in the shadows, such as the great
Chaos Ogre, the lethal Alluress, the Curator, and many more. Continue here to read the full story.
I recently picked up a few of those Mr. Clean Magic Eraser dealies, which turn
out to be more eraser than magic as they work though abrasion, rather than
chemicals as I had assumed. Now it's sort of by necessity that I'm not a clean
freak, as I have a touch of OCD, so I can get carried away if I allow myself.
And in that vein, I discovered that these erasers are a way to get the last
traces of stubborn grime from little crevices on the kitchen floor, so I am
gradually hand scrubbing every inch of it. Normally I am not happy about how
small our kitchen is, but in this case it's a blessing, as it is a very slow
process, but pretty gratifying. I should have made this part of my celebration
of the Odd Couple on November 13th. Honk!
