Archived News:
BethesdaGameStudios tweets that "all 27 versions" of Fallout 4 are
complete, so the post-apocalyptic RPG is on track for its planned November 10th
release. It looks like they skipped over an announcement that the game went
gold, as the included image shows what appear to be store-ready packages for
Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In an odd bit of related news, Bethesda
announces a partnership with Carlsberg UK to offer Fallout BEER, "a beverage
inspired by Vault-Tec Industries and the multi-award winning Fallout® videogame
series" because while no one is looking forward to an apocalypse, it is widely
agreed that if one happens, the beer will be awesome. You can reserve a "case"
of 12 bottles
on
Amazon.co.uk, for the post-apocalyptic price of $46.00.
Double Fine announces that they are at
IndieCade showing off a remake of Day of the Tentacle, the classic
LucasArts adventure from 1993, saying this is coming next year to Windows, OS X,
PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita. Here

screenshots showing the modernized look of the game, and here's word on
their plans: Originally released by LucasArts in 1993 as a sequel to Ron

time travel, cartoon puzzle adventure game in which three unlikely friends work
together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world!
It was Tim Schafer’s first game as project lead, and is a much beloved cult

edition that features all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with
remastered audio, music and sound effects, and some new special features too!
Day of the Tentacle Remastered is playable for the first time at Indiecade this
weekend, down in Los Angeles. Come on by the PlayStation area to play the game,

The Vermintide is rolling in, as Warhammer: The End Times Vermintide is
now available, offering a fantasy-themed melee combat game for Windows from
Fatshark. The release
trailer came out the other day with a cinematic from the game, and
this page offers links to
where this can be picked up. "After over two years of development, we are
excited to launch Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide on PC," said Martin Wahlund,
CEO of Fatshark. "We’ve been blown away by the positive feedback from the over
140,000 gamers who have purchased the pre-order to enjoy Vermintide’s fast and
furious cooperative action." Here's word on the game: In Vermintide, the
city of Ubersreik is under siege as players select from a band of five heroes
with different play-styles and abilities, all equipped with unique gear and
personalities. Working together cooperatively, players must use their individual
attributes to survive an apocalyptic invasion from hordes of relentless, power
hungry Skaven, across a range of environments stretching from the top of the
Magnus Tower to the bowels of the Under Empire. Continue here to read the full story.
Developer Obsidian Entertainment and publisher Paradox Interactive proudly
announce that Pillars of Eternity has sold over 500,000 copies since the
launch of the crowdfunded RPG, saying that makes it one of the best-selling
games on Steam this year. "It’s very encouraging to see so much enthusiasm for
the classic CRPG alive and well within the gaming community," said Fredrik
Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive. "It’s a genre we’re very fond of ourselves,
as evidenced by the large number of Pillars of Eternity backers within our own
company. Given that Paradox itself grew from tabletop-inspired strategy games,
we’ve always believed there was plenty of room for the ‘classic’ genres to
thrive, and we’re very proud to see half a million players agree with us."
GOG.com now offers the
Falcon Collection, a bundle of this F-16-centric flight simulator series
from back in the day. The bundle includes, Falcon, Falcon A.T. (286 processor
required), Falcon Gold, and Falcon 4.0. This includes digital version of the
manuals, which were as big as textbooks in print. Their listing for this invokes
a funny nostalgia, as I can still recall when the crude image they show from the
game represented state-of-the-art graphics.

A
GamesRadar livestream with Frank O’Connor of 343 Industries touches on the
possibility that Halo 5 will eventually make its way onto the PC
platform.
DSOGaming transcribed the following quote on the chances of a Windows port
of the shooter sequel: You know, Microsoft has made a huge commitment
trying sort of… I think normalize the Windows experience across multiple
platforms. You see the elements of Windows 10 are going to appear in Xbox and
Cortana and stuff like that. There is plenty of chance that Halo 5 could appear
on the PC. Nothing to announce at this point… you know, we developed the game on
an Intel platform. It wouldn’t be the hardest thing in the world to move it to
PC and take advantage of PC stuff. But nothing I announce today on this
chat.
ArenaNet announces the launch of Heart of Thorns, a paid expansion for Guild Wars
2, their MMORPG sequel, also taking the occasion to announce that over seven
million player accounts have been created for the game since launch, a number
that was boosted when they
recently made the base game
free-to-play. There are details on the game on the
Guild Wars 2 website along
with a previously released
launch trailer. Here's part of the announcement, which offers all the info
from an infographic without the frills: The new infographic from ArenaNet
catalogues hard data and fun factoids that highlight the continuing popularity
of Guild Wars 2 across the game, from open world players who focus on story
content and world exploration to those who participate in the game’s
increasingly competitive Player vs. Player (PvP) and World vs. World (WvW)
scenes. ArenaNet recently announced the launch of a $400,000 Guild Wars 2 Pro
League PvP tournament, launched in partnership with ESL, and the infographic
highlights how PvP player participation has grown by 135 percent since last
year. There is a statistic showing that 40 percent of max level players showed
up in starter zones to welcome new players the day the core game went free,
showcasing the friendly reputation of the player community. Topping it all is an
astronomical figure – more than 1.4 billion hours – totalling the amount of time
players have put into Guild Wars 2 since launch, nearly the same time modern
humans have spent walking the earth.
Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns now extends the core game experience for this
growing community as a paid expansion with a range of new content and features,
including a unique new system called Masteries that redefines endgame character
progression in Guild Wars 2. The expansion marks a couple of additional firsts
for Guild Wars 2, introducing Guild Halls where guilds and groups of players can
claim and customise a piece of the game world, and setting the stage for the
first-ever Raids coming to the MMO and activating shortly after launch. As with
the original Guild Wars 2, which delivered more than 40 major content updates
without charging a subscription fee, players who purchase Heart of Thorns will
have access to future releases coming to the expansion free of charge. Continue here to read the full story.

he is now an experienced covert operative, forced to operate in a world that has
grown to despise his kind. Armed with a new arsenal of state-of-the-art weapons
and augmentations, he must choose the right approach, along with who to trust,
in order to unravel a vast worldwide conspiracy. This new in-game trailer

Taking a page out of the Rocket League playbook,
this video shows a
Nissan QASHQAI (an SUV model not sold in the U.S.) being used as a controller to
play PES 2016 for what is described as "thoroughly unique," if not
practical experience. Word is: "Nissan has invited game influencers around the
world to support the development process of Nissan Controller and in November,
football fans will be able to steer the PES 2016 players with a Nissan Qashqai,
offering the players a thoroughly unique experience." A
Nissan
Controller page has more details. Continue here to read the full story.
With Halloween a little more than a week off, the preparations are in place here
at the BlueTower. We have an ample supply of candy on hand, and I have been
dutiful in checking to make sure it's all fresh and tasty. We also have a new
costume for the Gunnar-man, which I picked up a couple of weeks ago. I just
deleted a mention of what it is, as I think I'll wait until next week when I can
post some photos and not spoil it.
