No Matter Studios reveals development
of a new Windows and OS X game called
Prey for the Gods, calling this a
"labor of love" from its three developers.
This video accompanies
the news, showing off cinematics and gameplay that inspire
PCGamesN to describe this as "
Shadow of the Colossus in snow."
Here's word:
Prey for the Gods is a brutal journey set on a desolate
frozen island, where your only chance of survival is to destroy the very gods
you believe in.
In Prey for the Gods, you play a lone hero sent to the edge of a dying world to
discover the mystery behind a never-ending winter. Arriving with only the
clothes on your back, you must survive the colossal dangers that you encounter.
To restore balance and reclaim the land from the brink, you will be faced with
questions that not even a God knows the answer to.

First off, there's a
reddit AMA with Mike McCain where this creative director at Harebrained
Schemes answers questions about
BATTLETECH, their upcoming mech combat
game. Also, a
Kickstarter update from Harebrained notes that the crowdfunding campaign for
BATTLETECH has hit their penultimate revealed stretch goal (thanks nin).
This carries a couple of sub-goals which they are still to reach, while their
next major stretch goal is PvP multiplayer, which will require about
three-quarters of a million dollars in additional pledges over the next two
week. Here's word on the expanded mercenary campaign their stage 3 expanded goal
triggered:
The STAGE 3 EXPANDED MERCENARY CAMPAIGN puts you in full
control of your life as a mercenary.
- The single-player story campaign is now open-ended
- charter JumpShip transport for your mercenary outfit to travel to various
hot-zones across the Periphery and Inner Sphere, and continue your career
even after the game's main story arc is resolved.
- You’ll be able to choose your contracts and
alliances, with both the 5 Great Houses and other sub-factions within the
Inner Sphere.
- A procedural contract-generation system will
ensure that you always have fresh contracts available, wherever your
Mercenary career may take you.
- The missions you choose to accept and the
objectives competed in those missions will determine your reputation as a
mercenary, affecting the contracts and contract terms you may be offered in
the future.
If you're noticing the early start, it's because I have an adventure, as I and a
couple of the mutants are part of a group playing paintball today. As much as
I've always wanted to play, this is my fist try. For the longest time living in
New York City was the problem, as access to the sport is limited there, and
somehow I never readjusted my outlook on how practical this would be since
moving to the suburbs. Unfortunately today appears to be the coldest of the
surrounding couple of weeks, but I still full plan on enjoying myself
thoroughly, even if I end up doing nothing more than eating icy cold paint.
