A post to the
Arrowhead Studios blog announces the end of support for
Gauntlet,
their remake of the classic action/adventure they released about a year ago
(thanks
GameSpot). The game was updated over the summer to the
GAUNTLET: Slayer Edition, but there will be no more patches going forward.
As a parting gift, they have released all the game's preorder bonus content for
free to all users. Here's an excerpt:
While it has been great working
with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the development phase and our time
together is now drawing to a close and Arrowhead’s involvement with the support
of the game will come to an end. This means we likely will not release any more
patches for the game. If anything were to ever change in the future we will of
course keep the Gauntlet community updated.
Frogwing and ForeverAPeon from Arrowhead will still be available in the forums
to chat and answer questions (and always on our brand new website of course!),
but we ask all of you to continue to report any issues with a ticket to Warner
Bros. Support, found here, so that they can keep up to date with the current
status.
A
Steam Community Group Announcement reveals plans for
Sector Zero, an
expansion coming later this year to
StarDrive 2, Zero
Sum Games' sci-fi 4X strategy game for Windows, OS X, and Linux. They are
celebrating the news by offering a 50% discount on the game and a 75% discount
on the original
StarDrive
for the next week. Here's a rundown on the expansion:
- Sectors mechanic. An entirely new way to visualize
and conquer the galaxy. The concept of sectors reinvigorates the 4x’s of
StarDrive 2. In the early-game exploration phase, Sectors provide short-term
goals as the targets of your exploration. As you enter a sector for the
first time, its secrets are revealed. You might find one of Sector Zero's
new quest lines or events. You may find subspace anomalies, the wreckage
from ancient battles, and many more new and exciting terrain features.
- Deep Space Construction mechanics. These allow you
to claim sectors for your empire and to exploit the resources found there.
Build a Star Fortress at the edge of a wormhole to control the passage, or a
mining base in a deep space field of precious metals. Every space station
can be upgraded with multiple improvements to secure your territory.
- Expanded Galaxy size, allowing galaxies up to 4
times larger than those available in the base StarDrive 2 game.
- Dozens of new quests and events to continue to
bring the lore of the StarDrive universe to life.
- New technologies to research.
- New Racial traits to further customize your
experience.
- Two new Victory Conditions: the scientific
victory, and a story-based victory.
The
Dota 2
blog announces some new features that are now part of Valve's MOBA, focused
on improved item management and chat. These changes are baked into
a new patch that
includes a bunch of other changes and fixes. Here's part of the update:
New to the Armory, the Collection view gives you a fully customizable
space to easily arrange and organize your favorite items. With the help of a new
filter to show items that aren’t already in the Collection, you can design your
Armory in the way you see fit. If you had a previous layout that you liked from
the legacy interface, you’ll be able to use a command to import that layout
over. We’ve also added a new notification to the Armory to quickly see your most
recently acquired items at a glance.
The new Item Details interface for customizing your items with gems has been
enabled as well. You can access the Item Details panel by double-clicking on an
item in the Armory. Additionally, the chat interface now allows you to share
your party or lobby directly in any chat channel, making it easier for others to
join you for a match.
Went out with my buddies last night to do a little carousing. We had some dinner
and adult beverages and caught the sports action. The obvious draw was playoff
baseball, and we weren't paying too much attention to the Rangers hockey game on
one of the bar's more distant TVs. One of us did notice the Rangers were 2:30
from losing 2-1, so it was surreal when moments later we saw they were suddenly
winning 4-2. They actually managed to turn the 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead in a
span of 17 seconds. I eventually saw the highlights of how that went down, but
I'm still having a hard time believing it.
