Introversion Software announces the official release of Prison Architect, as the
incarceration simulation has finally busted out of early access with the release of
version 1.0, which carries a 33% launch discount. There's a brand-new
trailer for the
game on its
official website where they offer this description of the game: Build
and manage a Maximum Security Prison. As the sun casts it’s early morning rays
on a beautiful patch of countryside the clock starts ticking. You’ve got to
crack on and build a holding cell to detain the job lot of maximum security
prisoners that are trundling to your future prison on their yellow bus.
As your workmen lay the last brick you don’t have a moment to let them rest as
they need to get started on the first proper cell block so you can make room for
the next prisoner intake. Once they’ve all got a place to lay their weary heads
the fun can really start. You’ll need a canteen, infirmary and a guard room, oh,
and don’t forget to plumb in a toilet, or things will get messy, but what about
a workout area? Or solitary confinement cells? Or an execution chamber?
Inspired by Dungeon Keeper, Dwarf Fortress and Theme Hospital and with over 1
million players having spent time inside, Prison Architect is the world’s best
lock-em-up. Continue here to read the full story.

other platforms to follow.
Their website has
information, screenshots, and
this debut trailer.
Here's word on the game: The world ended on the day the bombs fell. Since
then, it's always been like this: disease, hunger, death. The ruling Aristocrats
-- a faceless oligarchy that controls all resources -- have unchallenged
authority. There's never enough food, water, or vaccine to go around. The rich
receive regular doses of vaccinations in exchange for their unconditional
government support. The poor live in fear, superstition, and squalor until they
die.
Amy Wellard, a young woman reluctantly working for the government to qualify for
the vaccine lottery, believes there's a cure -- and she's going to find it. Even
if it costs her her life. Continue here to read the full story.

A new splash intro on the Ubisoft website
confirms that yesterday's
teases were for a prehistoric installment in the Far Cry series Ubisoft is
calling Far Cry Primal. The page points to the
Far Cry website where they are
already accepting preorders for the game, which is expected for consoles on
February 23, 2016, with the Windows release is currently ambitiously planned for
March 2016. They also offer
an official reveal
trailer, which is also posted on
the Ubiblog along
with the following: Far Cry Primal takes you back to the Stone Age when
man was definitely not at the top of the food chain. Danger lurked around every
corner during the daytime, and nighttime brought a fresh set of terrors. It is
in the untamed land of Oros that you meet Takkar, the sole survivor of an ambush
on his hunting group. Now on his own in a treacherous world, Takkar will face
massive mammoths, savage sabretooth tigers, hostile bands of rival hunters, and
countless other threats as he attempts to re-unite his lost tribe.
Like any good hunter, Takkar carries an extensive set of survival skills,
including the ability to craft tools and weapons from the bones of the beasts he
slays and the resources he gathers in the wild. These are not only crucial for
his own safety against predators (both human and animal), they’re also essential
in maintaining the safety of his tribe. Takkar will need to guard his fledgling
group carefully to ensure its survival and growth.
Like every Far Cry before it, Far Cry Primal takes place in a massive open
world, and Takkar’s adventure will take him through a number of landscapes,
ranging from swamps to redwood cedar forests, and when nightfall comes to Oros,
fire may be the only thing standing between Takkar and a particularly sharp set
of teeth or the jagged tip of a spear. The use of fire is perhaps just as
important, if not more important, than the weapons Takkar crafts. In addition to
using it for protection at night, he can use it for additional tactical options
when assaulting beasts or infiltrating enemy outposts.

GameSpot has word from DICE that Star Wars Battlefront will not
feature microtransactions. They asked Battlefront design director Niklas
Fegraeus about indications they might be included, and he told them
that microtransactions are "not part of the core design" of the action game, and
that the in-game credit system is there to reward game activities. On a related
note,

Cloud Imperium Games
demanded a
retraction from The Escapist after the site
recently posted an article
attributing negative quotes about the Star Citizen project to current and
former CIG employees. Yesterday's deadline for the retraction has come and gone,
and instead of backtracking, the site has posted a defiant update
to the article in question, saying: Update: The Escapist,
notwithstanding Cloud Imperium Games' notice and posting, stands by its coverage
of Star Citizen and intends to continue to investigate the developing
story. Since publishing our original stories, we have been contacted by, and are
currently interviewing, additional sources corroborating a variety of the
reported allegations. Additionally, if Mr. Roberts' offer for The Escapist
to "meet the developers making the game and see how we're building one of the
most ambitious PC games first hand" remains open, we take the opportunity to
accept such invitation so as to hopefully provide the public with sufficient
information and opportunity to vet such sources' allegations and claims for
themselves. We have also communicated the foregoing directly to Cloud Imperium
Games.
The
GeForce website announces a choice of Assassin's Creed Syndicate or
Rainbow Six Siege is the new promotion accompanying the purchase of new
GTX graphics cards. Here's word: It’s the final few months of the year,
and as always that means a rush of new triple-A games that promise to excite and
delight over the Holiday season. This year, Ubisoft's
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege are vying for glory. And to ensure the
definitive versions are found on PC we’ve teamed up with Ubisoft once again to
add NVIDIA GameWorks effects to each, bringing richer, more detailed experiences
to your desktop.
Enabling ultra settings and GameWorks effects at higher resolutions will require
serious pixel-pushing prowess, as you can imagine, so for many an upgrade will
be in order. From today, if you
upgrade your system with a
GeForce
GTX 980 or
970,
or purchase a new
GeForce GTX 970M or higher notebook, you opt for bullets or blades to
receive a free downloadable copy of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, or Tom Clancy's
Rainbow Six Siege.
UbiBlog now
offers a new trailer
showing off the upcoming Wild Hunt expansion for The Crew,
Ubisoft's open-world driving game. The clip shows off the summit competition,
and here's word: Put your monster truck, motorcycle, dragster and drift
racing skills to the test. Compete in challenging on- and off-road races and in
head-spinning stunt courses to earn your Qualifier Medals for The Summit Finale.
Winners of the first edition of The Summit can earn a Lotus Evora GTE as an
exclusive reward.
Yeah, so today is Rock Band 4 release day, but there never was any follow-up
about the missing online multiplayer support, so I am just holding off (weirdly,
most reviews make no mention of this omission). I'm sad that this is the case,
and I still am in complete disbelief of Harmonix' contention that online play
was an underused feature, so hopefully they will come through with a patch to
add online MP, as that's all it will take to get me to pick this up.
