The Astronauts' blog announces the release of
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
Redux, an updated version of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter remade "from scratch"
using Unreal Engine 4. This is a free upgrade for all who own the game on
GOG.com or
Steam, and for those who
do not, those storefronts are currently offering this for 50% and 40% off,
respectively. Here's
a
trailer with a look and here's word:
What is The Vanishing of
Ethan Carter Redux?
It is The Vanishing of Ethan Carter PC remade from scratch in Unreal Engine 4.
The original was made in Unreal Engine 3.
You buy just one game, called The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, and you get two.
The original, and this new remaster, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux (UE4).
If you already own the original, the Redux version is a free update and will
appear in your Library as The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux next to the
original The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.
Story-wise both games are identical. There are no extra quests or secrets in the
Redux version. Note that “Redux” is sort of an unofficial tag, we do not even
feature the word on the game’s art.

Giants: Citizen
Kabuto from Rogue Rocket Games, an indie developer co-founded by Nick Bruty, a
designer on both of those games. The game was unveiled at PAX Prime, and the
developers now offer
this blog
post recounting their experiences at the show. The video shows off combat between an itty-bitty Cargonaut and a big giant Monstro. Word is: "You are invited to join Rogue Rocket Games to get a much deeper
look at one of the two protagonists in First Wonder, the small but resourceful
Cargonauts, as they try to outwit the massive Monstro, using guile, teamwork and

A
new update to the
Dota 2 blog catches up with
yesterday's
launch of
Dota 2 Reborn with more details on the updated Source 2
engine version of Valve's MOBA and a subsequent update to the game. Here's word:
As of yesterday, all Dota 2
players are now running the Reborn update, which includes the Source 2 engine, a
rebuilt UI, and Custom Games. Over the coming weeks we’ll be updating the game
frequently to fix issues and refine the experience based on your feedback.
You’ll be able to find patch notes in the usual place once again.
In today’s update we’ve included a design-related change to the Dashboard. We’ve
integrated the friends list in the Home screen, while still having it be
available globally. We debated making this change during the earlier part of the
beta, but we didn’t have enough confidence that it was correct until we got more
feedback following yesterday’s release.

all the other fixes and improvements that are part of this update.
The
Age of
Wonders III forums announce open beta testing is underway on
Steam for
modification tools for
Age of Wonders III, regretfully noting these are for
Windows only, though OS X and Linux users will be able to use the mods they
create (thanks Dan). Triumph Studios also says the upcoming version 1.7 update
for their turn-based strategy sequel should leave beta for full release this
month, but are not clear on whether these new mod tools will be released at that
time. They have instructions on how to participate in the beta as well as how to
revert to the prior version to preserve existing multiplayer compatibility.
