PCGamesN has an excerpt from a
making of
Garry's Mod interview they conducted with Garry Newman where the Facepunch
Studios founder reveals they are "kind of" working on a sequel to the popular
Source engine sandbox modification. "We wouldn't raise the price now, I mean
we’re kind of working on a sequel, so it’d be stupid to the raise the price,
really," he explains. "It’s early days. We’re looking at having more VR stuff in
it - that’s the big point of it. And it won’t be called Garry’s Mod 2."

Jan Klose, Creative Director for Deck 13. “We're looking forward to giving Steam
players the same chill-inducing thrills enjoyed by our German fans of the
game."

An
article on Bethesda.net has details on how Fallout 4 will be
supported, outlining plans for regular free updates, DLC, and modification support (thanks Batman). Their roadmap includes a $30.00 season pass
that will grant all the DLC Bethesda will release for their upcoming RPG
sequel and their mod support will include the release (next year) of the
Creation Kit for PC, which they say is the same tool they use themselves. Here's
word: Regular Updates
We'll be doing regular free updates to the game, and like Skyrim, these will
come with not just fixes, but new features. For Skyrim we added things like
mounted combat, legendary mode, kill cams, visual enhancements and more. We’ll
work with all of you to figure out what new things you’d love to see added to
Fallout 4, whether they are small tweaks or new features.
Mods & Creation Kit
The most important thing in our games is the freedom you have to create your own
experience, and modding is a big part of that. Like all our previous games,
we’ve made sure to keep Fallout 4 open and moddable at every step in
development. Early next year we’ll release for free the new Creation Kit for the
PC. This is the same tool we use in the studio. You'll be able to create your
own mods and share them with others. We’re especially excited these same mods
will then be coming to Xbox One, and then PlayStation 4.
Downloadable Content
We've always done a lot of DLC for our games. We love making them and you always
ask us for more. To reward our most loyal fans, this time we’ll be offering a
Season Pass that will get you all of the Fallout 4 DLC we ever do for just $30.
Since we’re still hard at work on the game, we don’t know what the actual DLC
will be yet, but it will start coming early next year. Based on what we did for
Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim, we know that it will be worth at least $40, and
if we do more, you'll get it all with the Season Pass.

An
update from Microsoft outlines changes coming to
Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta and
Minecraft: Pocket Edition that will allow cross-platform multiplayer
support between the two versions of the sandbox building game, supporting
five-player co-op games (thanks
MCV). Here's a bit: It sometimes seems like Minecraft just can’t get
any better, but that’s exactly what it keeps doing. And with the new features
coming to Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta and Minecraft: Pocket Edition,
you’ll have more ways than ever to build and explore your own elaborate worlds
alongside your friends, whether you’re playing on Windows 10 PC, Windows Phone,
iOS, or Android.
The upcoming 0.12.1 update is, in a word, awesome. For the first time ever, up
to five friends can play cross-platform multiplayer on a local network between
Minecraft: Pocket Edition and Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta. The Windows 10
Edition Beta also now allows up to five friends play together over Xbox Live.
And no matter what edition you’re playing, you’ll be able to buff up your
equipment with special effects from enchanting tables.
This is also the biggest update for Minecraft: Pocket Edition to date, bringing
a host of highly-requested catch-up features for mobile players. For starters,
you’ll get to enjoy revamped touch controls, controller support, and the
controller mapping screen. You’ll also be treated to the same enhanced weather
effects that Windows 10 Edition Beta players have received, including snow
accumulation and directional rain. And in addition to plenty of new goodies to
build and potions to brew, you’ll now be able to encounter golems and ocelots,
and even explore the Nether. Finally, this update brings the ability to sneak
and sprint in Pocket Edition.

Shades of Black is now available for Windows from
Digital Download
and Steam,
offering the latest installment in the long-running Carol Reed series of
point-and-click mystery adventure games. Publisher Tri-Synergy offers
this new video, and
here's word: Carol has written a book about one of her previous
adventures. She has put a lot of work into it, but after receiving rejections
from several publishers, her enthusiasm for the project is beginning to wane.
Her hope is somewhat rekindled when a publisher who recently rejected her book
sends her an SMS, telling Carol that he wants to meet her.
However, the publisher is not interested in Carol’s writing skills, but in her
aptitude for locating missing persons. He wants to hire her to find a missing
eccentric author.
Its obvious to Carol from the very beginning that it’s not an average missing
person case. The author’s wife was murdered 6 years ago. Just before his
disappearance, a young woman was found murdered, with pages from the author’s
latest book stuffed into her mouth. Continue here to read the full story.

It was pointed out to me I didn't comment on the Deflategate ruling, not that
everybody is hanging on my opinions about such things, but I did have something
to say about the origins of the case (thanks j.c.f.). I don't think my take is
very radical: It seems there was a pretty strong circumstantial case against
Brady, and that the collective bargaining agreement allowed the league to make
the ruling it did, so I'm surprised the court decided to fall back on the merits
of the case rather than the authority of the commissioner. I'm also not sure how
it benefits anyone to create a situation where cases like this may continue to
end up in the courts going forward, though the near-monopoly of the NFL does
suggest that adult supervision is prudent. My ultimate takeaway is that this is
a Pyrrhic victory for the Patriots, as while Brady will not be suspended, his image has taken another hit, and a lot of the Teflon has come off in
the process. I think he has lost most of his Captain America aura outside
of New England, and I don't think that's unfair... I can't imagine Roger Staubach involved in such a scandal.
