Hi-Rez Studios announces Paladins, a team-based MOBA shooter coming
to PCs and consoles in next year. This will be a free-to-play game "combining
rich fantasy, deep strategy and a new customisation system into a unique
package." You can sign up to participate in upcoming beta testing on the
Paladins website where they also have
first information on some of the game's champions. Here's the announcement:
Hi-Rez Studios, makers of the action MOBA SMITE, today revealed Paladins,
their newest free-to-play game under development for the PC and current
generation consoles. Paladins combines a rich fantasy setting with the fast
action of a team-based first person shooter. In addition to the core shooter
experience, Paladins also offers deep strategy and in-match character
progression through decks of collectible cards, which amplify and augment a
character’s core set of abilities.
Paladins will be playable to gamescom attendees at Hi-Rez Studios’ Booth A-051
in Hall 9, near the ESL main stage. Those not at the show can learn more and
sign-up for the upcoming closed beta of Paladins at
www.paladinsgame.com and on Twitter.
“We’ve managed to keep Paladins under wraps for over a year now, so the dev team
is really looking forward to receiving feedback from the hands-on demo at
gamescom,” said Todd Harris, COO at Hi-Rez Studios. “We’ve focused on making
something we find fun and competitive, and soon players will help us craft how
Paladins grows from here.”
In Paladins, teams are pitted against one another. Each combatant enters the
battle with a primary weapon, a set of combat and movement abilities, and a
personal mount to carry them quickly from one fight to the next. Players begin
each match with a customizable deck of skill cards which can be activated and
evolved upon leveling up in-match for enhanced strength, defense or utility
throughout the session.
“Paladins has been a passion project of ours from the beginning,” commented Mick
Larkins, senior producer on the title. “We’ve dedicated a separate team from
SMITE to work on it, and while we are still early in development, we know we’re
crafting something very special. Paladins is extremely quick, with a great deal
of depth in how it blends action, tactics, and teamwork, and we’re excited for
gamers to start discovering all it has to offer.”
Paladins is coming to PC and current generation consoles in 2016. For the latest

Konami announces the PC edition of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN
will be released simultaneously along with other editions of the stealth/action
sequel, after
previously
announcing it would follow a couple of weeks after the console release.
What's looking like Hideo Kojima's final installment in the series is now
available for pre-purchase
on Steam which includes a few bonuses, including a copy of METAL GEAR SOLID
V: GROUND ZEROES, a couple of bits of DLC, and a "collector's video." Here's
word on the PC edition: METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN heads to PC
as a dramatic advance for the multi-million-selling franchise, expanding themes
and content seen in METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES. As with its prequel, the
PC version of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN hosts a stunning 4k mode,
which adds incredible visual acuity to the game’s huge open world environment.
The game is also enhanced for those with NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards, meaning
the game’s incredible level of detail is further enhanced as the scarred terrain
of global battlefields is brought to vivid life with realistic weather patterns
and day turning to night during the course of the action. For a limited time
those who purchase qualifying GeForce GTX GPUs will get a
free copy of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE
PHANTOM PAIN.
Longbow Games announces an August 25th release date for Hegemony III: Clash of the Ancients,

Rise of Caesar, Hegemony III goes back to the founding years of Rome when the
armies of Greece, Gaul, Rome and Etruria battled for control of the Italian
peninsula. Incorporating the series' trademark seamless blend of grand strategy
and tactical combat, players will need to command armies and manage resources in
order to forge the ancient world's next great empire.
“We've been running a closed beta with the community this summer and the
response has been really great,” said Longbow Games President Rob McConnell. “We
couldn't make these games without the support of the fans, and we're really
grateful for this chance to combine the best elements of the first two games
towards bringing a fascinating period of history to life.” Continue here to read the full story.

I would like to thank the Mets for improving to the point where they are
actually still relevant at this point in the season. Normally I'd already have
turned my complete sports focus on the fact that NFL training camps are getting
underway, but the Amazin' Mets have lived up to the nickname, and are just
thousandths of a percentage point out of first place. I actually made specific
plans to watch the game last night, and it's been a long time since the team was
last appointment viewing in August.
