The
SUPERHOT Kickstarter page announces that a beta version is now available
those who have backed this
MOBA first-person shooter with at least $40.00 (thanks
Polygon).
They offer
a new trailer to
show off what this entails, and here's the accompanying explanation:
Ladies
and gentlemen, we’re hyped to announce that the beta has just been sent out to
everyone eligible! Thank you one more time for your awesome support and trust,
for spreading the word of SUPERHOT and for all the love we got from you! This is
a great day for us, and I hope it will be a great day for you too, once you find
the SUPERHOT beta steam-key in your email inbox and activate it in the steam
app!
Take your time and enjoy it! And once you're done, let us know if you liked it!
Either by sending us an email, tweeting or on the secret backer forum. Also,
feel free to post screenshots / videos of the beta if you'd like to, we're cool
with that.
Note that the beta is limited, we only send it to the people who pledged the $40
tier and above. We’re a bit shy to release an unfinished game, but were doing it
exclusively for you! There is no way to “buy into” the beta.

Dustin Browder has replied to a couple of concerns about
Heroes of the Storm
on Twitter, addressing one ongoing issue about the MOBA as well as a newer one. The major issue
is the game's matchmaking ranking/rating/ratio (MMR) system that many players
consider broken for its tendency to create imbalanced games. Responding to
a tweet
with a
screenshot illustrating the problem, the HotS game director
tweets:
"@itsNobbie @BlizzHeroes Team is on it. Thanks for the feedback." He also
responded to
another tweet pointing to
a video of a
player using the new Leoric character's trait of respawning in place after death
to attempt to "backdoor" a victory by relentlessly assaulting the enemy base.
Though the effort shown in the video was unsuccessful, the tactic is still an
unintended consequence, and
he replies
to this by saying: "@Lichb0rn Will fix."

A
World of
Warcraft forum post from Bashiok announces this prominent community manager
is parting ways with Blizzard after almost 12 years as one of the most visible
presences on their forums (thanks
Ten Ton
Hammer). As he explains, he is leaving of his own volition:
Anyway,
Blizzard—and the community that surrounds it—has defined almost my entire adult
life, and I am just so absolutely grateful to all of my friends here for having
such an incredible and positive impact on who I am, and who I am yet to become.
I don’t think I’ve had to make any decisions as difficult as the one to leave
Blizzard, but a new opportunity has come my way, and I’ve decided to take
it.
Happy birthday MTV, as the network that gave me my first real job turns 34 years
old today.
"And now we meet in an abandoned studio. You hear the playback and it
seems so long ago. And you remember the jingles used to go, oh-a-oh. You
were the first one. Oh-a-oh. You were the last one. Video killed the radio
star, video killed the radio star. It's in my mind and in my car. We can't
rewind, we've gone too far!"
R.I.P.:
Rowdy
Roddy Piper. Thanks nin.
