PCGamesN links to
this
Twitch video and
this one
showing the
DOOM panel from QuakeCon 2015, though they note that part of
the discussion was not captured in the two videos.
PC Gamer has a write-up of the festivities, talking about the emphasis on
movement, offering a new tortured analogy for the gameplay they wish to create,
as id's Hugo Martin says players should "feel like Bruce Lee with a shotgun on a
skateboard." Apparently the speed of the game was the main focus of the talk, as
it is all PC Gamer's coverage discusses, saying the game's "glory kills," take
place in about "600-700 milliseconds," and the article's author says: "The
game's speed is so dialed up that major parts of it are taking place in
fractions of a second." They also report
Doom's
campaign won't have co-op support, saying that the only co-op in the game
will be created by users via the game's modification support.
Valve reports the following nine games were the 10 bestsellers last week on
Steam:
- Rocket League
- ARK: Survival Evolved
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
- The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited
- Five Nights at Freddy's 4
- The Talos Principle
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
- Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary (RU)
- The Elder Scrolls® Online: Tamriel Unlimited
It turns out that yesterday was the 35th(!) anniversary of the release of
Caddyshack, leading to
articles like this one looking back at the comedy classic. I actually
followed through on my recent idea about re-watching the
Fifth Element,
so I'm pushing my luck and making the commitment to myself to catching this one
again soon. And remember, the Zen philosopher Basho once wrote, "A flute with no
holes, is not a flute. A donut with no hole, is a Danish." He was a funny guy.
