Square Enix announces plans for a PC edition of Rise of the Tomb Raider,
saying this is coming to "Windows 10 and Steam" early next year. This
continuation of Lara Croft's prequel story
announced last year with word
that it would be an Xbox exclusive, which it was
later
clarified had a "duration." Here are plans for the PC and PS4
versions: Square Enix today announced its latest title in the critically
acclaimed and award-winning Tomb Raider® series, Rise of the Tomb Raider ®, will
be available for Windows 10 and Steam in early 2016. The game will be a console
exclusive to Xbox One and Xbox 360 for one year after its initial launch, coming
to PlayStation® 4 (PS4) in Holiday 2016. Renowned developer Crystal Dynamics, a
Square Enix studio, is leading development in the latest entry in the iconic
series for additional platforms.
In the critically acclaimed Tomb Raider, Lara Croft survived a harrowing
experience only to be discredited as part of a cover up. Now, after uncovering
an ancient mystery, Lara must explore the most treacherous and remote regions of
Siberia to find the secret of immortality before a ruthless organization known
as Trinity. Lara must use her wits and survival skills, form new alliances, and
ultimately embrace her destiny as the Tomb Raider.
Experience high-octane action moments, conquer beautifully hostile environments,
engage in brutal guerrilla combat, and explore awe-inspiring deadly tombs in the
evolution of survival action. In Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lara becomes more than
a survivor as she embarks on her first great Tomb Raiding expedition.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will premiere first, exclusively on Xbox One and Xbox
360 on November 10, 2015.

Bethesda Blog has word on how to get access to the DOOM multiplayer alpha
test that's now being shown off in pre-alpha form to QuakeCon attendees. They
explain they will select participants from the beta pools for Wolfenstein: The
New Order for Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Here's how this works:
Attendees at QuakeCon 2015 may be the first to go hands on with pre-alpha
DOOM multiplayer, but we still have big plans for fans that pre-ordered
Wolfenstein: The New Order.
In the coming months, we’ll be selecting Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC players
from the Wolfenstein: TNO Beta pool to participate in the DOOM Multiplayer
Alpha. To make sure you’re eligible, make sure you redeem your DOOM Beta code at
www.wolfenstein.com/doom. If you
purchased the game digitally through Steam, PSN, or Xbox Live, you’re already
set — you have a digital entitlement that will ready you for the Alpha when it
starts.
As a reminder, everyone that pre-ordered Wolfenstein: the New Order is eligible
to participate in the multiplayer beta planned for next year before DOOM’s
Spring 2016 release.

Kalypso Media declares today Tropico Day, marked by the release of a new T-Day
DLC for Tropico 5 as well as a Steam Workshop update and sale for the
island dictator sequel for Windows, OS X, and Linux.
This page covers the
sale, where games in the series are 65%-75% off. The patch brings Tropico 5 to
version 1.10, adding five new maps, a map and mission editor, Steam Workshop
support, and more.
This announcement has all the details on the patch, and the
T-Day DLC page outlines
what it brings to the party: There’s no business like show business! In
his infinite wisdom, El Presidente has decided that our beloved island of
Tropico is to be the leading cultural influence on the world stage. To do this,
you will produce a blockbuster movie which outclasses every other Hollywood
production in existence and sets itself up for endless reboots, sequels and
director’s cuts in the process.
Every movie needs a set, and for this epic production, the whole island will be
prepared for a blockbusting World War II movie. In ‘T-Day’, you must re-enact
the defending of Tropico from its biggest-ever invasion and produce the greatest
movie that the world has ever seen!

BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America announces that
the promised closed beta testing
is now underway for Supernova,
their upcoming MOBA. This is celebrated with the addition of five new commander
skins, two new force skins, new profile icons, as well as a new commander called
Targon. Here's word on this melee brawler: Targon is a powerful, ax
wielding fighter who can deal serious damage to his enemies and comes from a
race of minotaur-like creatures called Aurocs who inhabit the planet Therion.
When the legion of Faceless captured the Aurocs as servants for the Faceless
homeworld, Targon proved to be a vicious and brutal brawler that got the
attention of the Pit Boss, who gave him the title of The Arena’s new Gaoler.
After a riot ensued, Targon became a prime target for angry, escaped slave
gladiators. Barely fleeing with his life, Targon bought passage on a mercenary
ship headed to battle in a faraway system where the ship’s captain offered
Targon a chance to be a soldier, which he immediately accepted.

John Smedley is stepping down as president and CEO of Daybreak Game Company, the
publisher of H1Z1 and EverQuest previously known as Sony Online
Entertainment. Chief operating officer Russell Shanks will assume the role of
president, but the sun has not completely set on the Smedley era, as
Daybreak tells GamesBeat that he may return in a different role. "I can
confirm that John Smedley will be taking some time off from the company for the
near-term and transitioning to a different role to be determined," a Daybreak
spokesperson explained. "Upon finalization of his plans, further communication
will be provided." Daybreak has had other personnel shakeups since
being sold off in February, as the sale was immediately followed
by layoffs, and Planetside creative director
Matthew Higby resigned days after that. Just a couple of
weeks ago Smedley told a convicted Lizard Squad member involved in
cyber-attacking his company (and his plane) "I'm coming for you," but it seems
unlikely he's taking a sabbatical to hunt hax0rs.
This trailer from

what's coming next to the game, which looks like vehicle-based DLC, though they are holding back on details until
revealing this to the press at Gamescom in a couple of weeks and to the public
shortly thereafter. "We’re really excited to finally be able to show this major
project we’ve been secretly working on since the release of the game," teases
Dying Light producer Tymon Smektala. "This is Dying Light from totally new
angle, but with everything fans love about the original still at the core."
Here's more on the video: The ‘180 Days of Content’ video showcases of
how much Dying Light has grown through these six months to become an experience
bigger and richer than ever before. On top of traditional DLCs, there were also
many free content drops designed with fan feedback in mind and created as a way
of thanking everyone who helped make Dying Light one of Techland’s most
successful titles to date. Continue here to read the full story.

I made my ribs yesterday, following my makeshift plans. They came out fine,
though things didn't go exactly as planned. Smoking on a kamado-style grill is
like driving a race car with tremendous acceleration and crappy brakes, and
things got a lot hotter than I planned. This is not unusual for me, it was just
worse this time, as I usually get it to settle in at around 250°F, in spite of
shooting for 225°F, but that's workable. Yesterday the grill was determined to
stay at 300°F, and no amount of damping our dousing helped. I wish I could blame
this on multitasking while I worked, but as I say, this is a pretty hands-off
process, and it wouldn't have played out much differently on a weekend. Anyway,
I just cut down the cook time and they came out fine. They just can't really be
called barbeque, as they were more grilled than smoked.
