GOG.com announces the release of
the promised new version 1.07 patch for
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt along with the 14th piece of free DLC for CD
Projekt RED's RPG sequel, saying the releases combine to provide "something for
your eyes, your body and your soul."
The
patch notes were
released last week,
and here's more on the patch as well as the free the DLC:
This week's
FREE DLC is the previously teased Alternative outfit for Ciri.
Sometimes agility isn't everything, so trade in your comfy outfit and mix things
up with a bit more steel for your body... and a bit more glamour for your eyes.
But the big news this time around is the much anticipated Patch 1.07 ,
with a list of fixes bordering on ridiculous and ridiculously useful... all for
your soul. The highlights include:
- An alternative, optional movement style for a more responsive Geralt.
- A player stash for storing items, available in various locations
throughout the game.
- Crafting and alchemy components no longer add to the overall inventory
weight.
- Books are now placed in a dedicated tab in the Inventory and books that
have already been read are properly grayed out.
- Alchemy formulas and crafting diagrams can be "pinned", meaning all
components and ingredients required to make them will be conveniently marked
in the Shop panel.
- Dozens of fixes for quest related issues, both major and minor.
- A few performance enhancements, including the optimization of FX, scenes
and general gameplay.
- Various improvements to horse behavior, including an issue whereby the
player's horse would often stop abruptly before bridges or other narrow
passages.

A
lengthy post to CapCom Unity outlines how they plan on handling post-release
content for
Street Fighter V, which will not have the same succession of paid upgrades
as its predecessor. There will be additional premium character releases over time, but
they plan a more steady process, and promise players a way to earn new
characters for free, thought the option to buy them will still be offered.
Here's a portion:
With Street Fighter V, we want to change the way that players interact with
the series, and create an ever-evolving environment for players to enjoy. By
releasing new characters on a regular basis, it will ensure that there is always
new content to look forward to in the short term, and it prevents the
competitive environment from ever becoming stale.
Players also have more freedom in their decisions, as they only need to
purchase or earn the content that appeals to them. This will also create more
long-term engagement, because the more you play the game, the more you are
rewarded and can earn new content. The player base is never shrunk by requiring
a paid update like in years past. Players can take a break from the game, but
then come back at any time and continue to play with the characters they already
own, with the newest gameplay balance.
We are able to execute this service-based model by introducing an in-game
economy to Street Fighter V. There are two types of currency that make the
economy go round:
- Fight Money
- This is basic currency that players earn through playing the game.
Once players accumulate enough Fight Money, they can use it to earn new
post-launch gameplay content, such as characters, for free!
- Zenny
- This is premium currency that players can purchase with real money to
immediately gain access to post-launch content.
We will be using later beta phases to test the economy and ensure it works in
a fair way for everyone.
EA is sending out notices to Origin users saying their Origin accounts will soon
become EA accounts. This apparently brings no changes other than the rebranding
and remessaging, as they say: "Your account identity, preferences, and order history
will remain unchanged. You will continue to use this account and the same login
credentials to access all EA games, web sites, and services, including Origin."
This is not the first time they've done this, as there are many of us with
Origin announces that began as EA Download Manager accounts, so in some ways
this process has come full circle.

There was some rain yesterday early, but I could have gotten my ribs in fine if
not for the fear more storms would pop up, it just turned out they didn't. My
plans won't permit me to make them today, and I don't want them sitting in the
fridge until next weekend, so I'll probably make them during the week. This
makes me wonder why I'm so averse to this in general... the ribs take hours to
smoke, but it's a low maintenance process once it's underway, so there's no real
reason to confine my barbequing to the weekend.
