IGN has first details on Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr, an
action/RPG using Games Workshops futuristic setting coming to Windows, OS X, and
consoles next year. The game is in development at Budapest-based NeocoreGames
who call it a "persistent sandbox action-RPG" putting players "into a grim and
secret war among the stars as the agents of the ever-vigilant Inquisition." They
have a
brief teaser trailer showing some artwork and a little more on the plan:
"There’s a reason why we chose the world of Warhammer 40,000: it’s intense,
brutal, visceral – a perfect material for an action RPG," said producer Zoltán
Pozsonyi in a statement. "Working with Games Workshop, we’re doing our best to
bring a high quality game to the community. We’re huge fans as well, so we care
deeply about this game."
Blizzard announces StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void will launch this
winter, opening up pre-purchases to a few different editions of varying
deluxitude for the final chapter in the RTS sequel. To help close the deal they
offer immediate access to the free Whispers of Oblivion prologue pack,
the promise of beta access to Legacy of the Void, and access to an
upcoming, yet-to-be-revealed StarCraft Warrior Hero coming to Heroes of the
Storm, Blizzard's MOBA. They round out the announcement with word that the first
StarCraft II expansion, Heart of the Swarm, is now a standalone release
that no longer requires the original StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.
Here's word: Picking up where Heart of the Swarm® left off, Legacy of the
Void casts you in the role of Hierarch Artanis, leader of the technologically
advanced protoss race. Years ago, the protoss homeworld of Aiur fell to the
merciless zerg Swarm. Now, you have raised a powerful fleet of warships known as
the Golden Armada and are poised to reclaim your world. But an ancient evil
threatens your destiny and the fate of the entire Koprulu Sector. The galaxy’s
only hope is for you to reunite the protoss factions and defeat the coming
darkness.
To whet players’ appetites before the launch of the full campaign, a special
action-packed prologue titled “Whispers of Oblivion” bridges the storyline
between Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void. In these missions, players
will join Zeratul to unravel the mysteries of the Xel’naga prophecy. Whispers of
Oblivion will be available to everyone free of charge before the Legacy of the
Void launch, but players who pre-purchase now will receive instant access to all
three prologue missions in the Legacy of the Void beta test.
Legacy of the Void™, the third and final chapter in the StarCraft II saga, is a
standalone game, meaning you’ll be able to purchase, play, and harness the power
of the protoss without owning any previous entries in the series.

Ladies, gentlemen, and kitty cats, start your unicorns, as Ubisoft announces the release of
Trials Fusion: The Awesome MAX Edition, a bundle of Trials Fusion, six
previously released DLC packs, and the new Awesome Level MAX DLC for the racing
game. The
launch
trailer shows off the craziness this involves, and here's the announcement:
Today, Ubisoft released Trials Fusion: Awesome Level MAX, a downloadable
expansion pack for Xbox One, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and
Windows PC. The Awesome Level MAX is available as a standalone DLC to existing
Trials Fusion players, or as part of Trials Fusion: The Awesome Max Edition, a

Awesome Level MAX DLC introduces two immersive, new events to Trials Fusion –
Awesome Adventure and RedLynx vs. All-Stars – that rely on rock-solid motocross
physics and reality-bending course designs to create an over-the-top racing
experience. The Awesome Level MAX pack introduces 30 all-new tracks plus 10
additional supercross tracks, a variety of new garage items, achievements, track
challenges and objects for the track editor.
The Awesome Adventure ups the ante on extreme motobike riding with a new array
of platform-racing challenges by transforming your character into a gun-wielding
cat riding a flamethrowing unicorn. The Awesome Adventure includes eight new
classic Trials tracks, various mini-games and an entertaining soundtrack for the
ride.
The RedLynx vs. All-Stars content reflects the team’s committment to supporting
the active community of track-builders and the desire to continue increasing the
uniqueness of the Trials experience by regularly adding eccentric, new levels.
The pack pits RedLynx’s own track creators against the top track creators in the
Trials community from across the world. RedLynx vs. All-Stars includes a
collection of more than 20 all-new tracks. Continue here to read the full story.

Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford touched on the future of the Duke Nukem
franchise in his keynote address at Develop: Brighton, which
IGN wrote up in this report. While saying "I liked that game" about Duke
Nukem Forever, he admits they did not acquire the IP just to release the
overdue shooter, though the plans for the series he outlines at this time don't
sound very concrete. Randy says they've played around with a couple of concepts,
though it sounds like want another developer to flesh this out (maybe 3D Realms
is available?). He also states that "getting attention is one of the hardest
things to do," though Duke Nukem Forever project managed to get more than its
share of attention for 12 years. Word is: "We’ve done some concept
development [for a new game] and I think the challenges are there. Gearbox is
very busy. I think the faster way is that a correct developer can become
interested and we can work with them. I think it’s a challenging problem. But,
I’ll tell you one thing. When it does happen, there’s no doubt that the whole
industry will turn its head and look.
"Getting attention is one of the hardest things to do. In fact, that’s probably
the biggest challenge that [Duke Nukem] Forever had. For 10 years, these guys
promised that it was going to be the greatest game ever right? It was legendary
in its vapourware status. So it has this particular pole of attention that makes
it probably three or four times more famous than Borderlands as a franchise. Not
necessarily from a gamer's [perspective] that are really clued in to what’s
going on in game development in the industry, but certainly among the greater
whole community."
There's a follow-up on the news
that YAGER is no longer the developer on Dead Island 2, as
GamesIndustry.biz has a statement with the studio's side of why they are no
longer working on the zombie sequel. "Our
team is made of the best creative minds and tech specialists, who all share a
common identity," Timo Ullmann, managing director YAGER explains. "The team
worked with enthusiasm to take Dead Island 2 to a new level of quality. However,
Yager and Deep Silver's respective visions of the project fell out of alignment,
which led to the decision that has been made." He also says their
other announced project Dreadnaught is
still on track, and indicates they have one or more unannounced games to reveal,
perhaps as soon as at Gamescom.
