announces that the closed beta for Might & Magic Heroes VII has
concluded, but that a second closed beta will come before the release of the
strategy sequel in September. They guarantee access for
preorders, but also offer
a waitlist to sign up to see if you
are selected as well. They are also offering players the chance to decide on
content for this second test: Four playable factions are up for possible
inclusion in the next beta: the Sylvan forest elves, the Dungeon dark elves, the
Stronghold orcs, and the undead of Necropolis. Players who want weigh in can do
so via Might & Magic Heroes VII’s community portal, which also offers players a
chance to get involved with development by sharing their feedback and ideas.
Shadow Council members can vote on the two factions they want to see next, and
the chosen armies will appear alongside Haven and Academy in the next
beta.

Rogue Rocket Games announces that Gunpowder is coming to Windows, OS X,
and Linux, offering PC gamers the chance to try this action game that has
already blown up on mobile. The game will be
released one week from today
on Steam. The company's founders resumes include Star Wars: Republic
Commando, Earthworm Jim, MDK, and Escape From Monkey Island, and here's word on
their new creation: "Gunpowder is a one-of-a-kind physics-based puzzle game set
in a wacky rendition of the Wild West, in which players go head-to-head against
the greedy wolf, Boss Grimshaw. Players take on the role of Incendio, a friendly
fox inspired by the noble deeds of Robin Hood, to reclaim stolen riches for the
people, using a series of carefully choreographed explosions ignited by
gunpowder lines. Barrels and numerous environmental objects – flaming wagons,
Gatling guns, chandeliers, cannons, mine carts and more - aid or hamper the
effort! Gunpowder can be played many times over, as players seek to find the
fastest and best way to solve each puzzle."

Kotaku reports that WBIE was aware of
problems with the
Windows edition of Batman: Arkham Knight, saying the information comes
from two sources who request anonymity "to avoid jeopardizing their careers."
They say both sources indicated the release came "because they believed it was
good enough," which did not turn out to be the case. "I will say that it’s
pretty rich for WB to act like they had no idea the game was in such a horrible
state,” said one source (identified as a "quality assurance tester who worked on
the game for years"). "It’s been like this for months and all the problems we
see now were the exact same, unchanged, almost a year ago." Kotaku says they made
"multiple requests for comment" from Warner Bros., but did not receive a reply.
Thanks nin.
A post on
NeoGAF discusses sales figures for the Dark Souls series, though the
Famitsu article
on which it was based now returns two "403 forbidden" errors (one for the page
itself, and the other for the proper error message). The action/RPG series has
moved more than 8 million copies since launching, and around 40 percent of these
were sold for the PC platform, as they break things down to show 3.25 million
copies were sold for the Windows version. Thanks
DSOGaming.
A
new post by Team Ninja addresses the online functionality of Dead or
Alive 5: Last Round that
was missing
from the PC edition of the fighting game (thanks
Polygon via
VG247). They express regrets that this did not arrive last month as planned,
discuss progress on the beta, and offer instructions on how to revert from the
beta version for those finding it unplayable: We are currently beta
testing the update to add online functionality to DEAD OR ALIVE 5 Last Round on
Steam. We originally announced that we would release the update by the end of
June 2015. However, due to major issues found during the beta test, we will be
postponing the release of the update.
We apologize for the last minute notification and regret deeply the trouble we
have caused our Steam customers who were looking forward to the online
functionality. We will update the website with a new release date as soon as it
is set.
We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your
understanding.
We will continue to offer the beta version. However, for users who have
experienced issues which made the beta version unplayable, we ask that you
revert back to the offline version to continue playing the game.
[Reverting to the Offline Version]
- In the library, right click Dead or Alive 5 Last Round and select
Properties.
- Select the BETAS tab, and select "NONE" for the beta you would like to
opt into. You will see a confirmation message notifying you of opting out of
the beta.
- Close the Properties window. If the previous settings were changed
successfully, then "onlinebeta" should disappear from beside the title in
the Library.。
- Start Dead or Alive 5 Last Round.

Last night a calamitous electrical storm passed through our area, freaking out
the Gunnar-man a bit. Thunder never bothered him when Hudson the wonder dog was
in charge (even though it terrified her) but now that he's top dog it's started
to get to him at times. He used to seek out Hudson to comfort her during storms,
but last night he woke me up for his own dose of solace, and I ended up lying with him on the couch
watching some TV until things passed. I feel bad for his anxiety, so I feel
guilty for enjoying the fact that it inspired him to cuddle with me for almost
an hour, as his patience for such mushy nonsense usually lasts about three
minutes. Sure enough, the second the storm abated, he was instantly done with
me.
