YouTube now offers the
Heroes of the Storm launch event as
a three-plus hour video recorded from yesterday's livestream
celebrating the launch of Blizzard's MOBA, though the first 30 minutes of the
clip are a pointless countdown timer. Along the way they unveiled plans for a
new month-long Eternal Conflict event to get underway on June 30th which will
involve the introduction of a Diablo-themed map (
Eurogamer
has a video flythrough) to the game along with The Butcher (they have
an ability video for him),
who will join the game's roster of heroes as a melee assassin character.
Polygon has a complete rundown of the details, and here's their description of the objective aspect
of the new map:
One of the major additions coming during the campaign is
a new, two-lane battleground named Battlefield of Eternity. Modeled after the
High Heavens from Diablo 3's fourth act, one half of the map appears to pure and
untouched, in all its heavenly glory, while the other half has been corrupted by
Diablo's evil.
At the center of that map are two Immortals, non-player characters — one good,
one evil —who will appear at set intervals and battle each other. Players can
join in that fight, supporting their own Immortal while attempting to destroy
the enemy team's Immortal. The Immortal who emerges the victor will then fight
alongside their team, invading the lane of the opposing team.
Battlefield of Eternity's center area frequently becomes a very active choke
point, with teams rushing to the heart of the battleground to engage in intense
skirmishes when Immortals spawn.

The
Deus Ex blog promises a gameplay reveal for
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
next week during E3. Here's all they're saying for now about plans to show the
action/RPG sequel: "Watch the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in-game reveal on June
16th at the Square Enix E3 conference."
My mention of D-Day yesterday inspired some discussion of films on the topic,
and following that theme, I got myself caught up in a
Band of Brothers
marathon yesterday, as it's been far too long since I've sat down and watched
it. I don't know if I'll finish today, but I could easily do so and overcome
nin's challenge if I choose. And I am finding the story as moving and impressive
as the first time I saw it, so it is turning out to be just as appropriate to
the occasion as I'd hoped. Currahee!
