If that wasn’t enough, new Heroes also come with a unique card back that will impress even the mightiest of dwarven kings! The steadfast “Magni” card back is added to your collection immediately after purchasing the Magni Bronzebeard Hero, and can be used with any deck of your choice.

New Heroes will be available for purchase from the in-game Shop for $9.99 USD! Usurp the traitorous Garrosh Hellscream and bring down the hammers of dwarven justice with Magni Bronzebeard; the first new Warrior Hero for Hearthstone—coming soon!

Big Pharma Beta Access for Preorders

Cliffski's Blog announces that Big Pharma is now on sale through its official website, offering the chance to play the beta version of this strategy game developed by Twice Circled and published by Positech. Those who make this advance commitment will also receive a Steam key when they are available. Here's a beta release trailer offering a look at the game, this page offers details on the game and plans to expand the content in the beta going forward. Here's a description:

What if you had it in your power to rid the world of disease, to improve the lives of millions, to ease suffering and cure the sick… and earn a tidy profit?

As the head of your own Pharmaceutical Conglomerate you have this power resting in your hands. Will you use it for good? Being totally altruistic may not be the best business plan. The uncomfortable truth (is there an ointment for that?) is that some remedies are more profitable than others and illness is good for business.

Welcome to the world of Big Pharma!

Spike Lee Directing NBA 2K16 MyCareer

Spike Lee will be directing cinematics for the MyCareer portion of NBA 2K16, the sports simulation sequel set to tip off this September for Windows and consoles. There are details on the plan on USA Today revealing this to be an interesting choice, as although Lee has a famous passion for basketball, he has no prior experience with motion capture shoots and is not a video gamer, in spite of being in the right age range (under 60). Here's word:

"We added MyCareer in 2012, and we've always been trying to make it more and more of a real story, like a film with drama," 2K spokesman Ryan Peters says. "We just told Spike, 'You transform the narrative, and we'll change that into digital polygons.' And he did that, bringing a protagonist and antagonist to the story."

Peters says Lee shot what amounts to 90 minutes of "cinematic narrative," which translates to about 12 hours of in-game drama.

Free Upgrade for Don't Starve Owners

A Steam Community Group Announcements informs owners of Don't Starve on Steam who bought the game before today have received a free copy of Don't Starve Together, the game's standalone multiplayer expansion (thanks PCGamesN). Here's word:

Today, we welcome 2 million new players into the Don't Starve Together community. Thank you once again to everyone who supported us on this journey. For everyone who purchased Don’t Starve, to everyone who jumped into the Frontier Pack, to everyone who told their friends about our little game -- thank you!

Over the last 6+ months, we’ve been updating the game[forums.kleientertainment.com] at a furious pace[forums.kleientertainment.com], and all the while, we’ve been upgrading our backend to get ready for bigger load. Since our Early Access launch in December, we’ve added new creatures, integrated the Reign of Giants DLC for free, created new games modes, added significant improvements to modding, and in general made over 50 significant updates to the game. While we’re not yet done (see below!) we feel players have waited long enough.

And on the note of new updates, today we are releasing an update to Willow. Full update notes will be available later today, but suffice it to say that she has been reunited with an old friend.

Out of the Blue

So the NHL finals got underway last night, and the NBA finals begin tonight? It can't be ideal for both sports to share the spotlight like that. I decided to try and figure out whose fault this is, so I looked up the hockey and basketball playoffs from 50 years ago. Turns out the NHL was completely done by the time the NBA finals began back in 1965, but I was surprised to see that both sports crowned champions by April instead of June, emblematic of the expansion of the leagues and their playoffs over the years. A funny thing I saw in my "research" of this question was that ABC took fire for cutting away from the closing minutes of game four of the NBA finals between the Lakers and the Celtics for "previously scheduled programming" (may very well have been to show The Addams Family). Hard to imagine that happening today.
