Archived News:
Polygon has the latest on the
lawsuit over Aliens: Colonial Marines, where consumers are protesting
how the finished product differed from what was marketed. They report a judge
recently denied Gearbox's motion to be
dropped from the case, but that a settlement proposed since then will drop
the developer from the case with prejudice (meaning they cannot be drawn back
into the case) in exchange for waiving rights to recoup legal fees. The court
has also stripped the case of its Class Action status, which may impact ongoing
negotiations with SEGA to settle the case. Word is: "The court notes from the
May 27 meeting between the attorneys doesn't explain exactly why the plaintiffs
dropped Gearbox from the suit. But it does seem to indicate that the developer's
unwillingness to settle and the loss of class action status forced the hand of
the plaintiff's attorneys who are now in renewed settlement discussions with
Sega." Thanks

IGN reports on a rumor posted by their comrades at
IGN Russia based on what they call a
prematurely-revealed social post
saying this year's Steam Summer Sale will run from June 11-20, followed by a
couple of days of encore sales. This would mean the Summer Sale will essentially
end before the summer begins. That presumes this is accurate, which IGN seems to
believe, though it is unconfirmed.

A tweet

Need for Speed reboot will require an Internet connection to play. As usual,
the explanation states this is for the benefit of players, in spite of how
little appreciation we show for them looking out for us like this. Word is:
"@DeanRheims NFS will require an online connection, but the benefits are nice.
More variety and a more rewarding experience with friends." Thanks

Due to overwhelming demand (67% of the three posts at the time) in the forums for
a photo of the Gunnar-man after his shearing yesterday, I shared
this photo
showing off his new haircut. It's an action shot showing him
marking some of his territory, but no forsythias were harmed in the making of
this picture.
