The
Bethesda Blog confirms the previously
announced release date for Wolfenstein: The Old Blood,
saying Machine Games' upcoming prequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order will
come on May 5th. They don't say anything else, but offer
a vine to celebrate the occasion,

shooter. Continue here to read the full story.
PC Gamer
has a look at all the graphics options in the imminent PC edition of Grand
Theft Auto V, saying: "We've played GTA 5 running at 4k resolution at 60fps,
and it's glorious. You'll need a mega-rig to get that smooth performance at such
a high resolution, but at 1080p, it ought to be easier, especially considering
the number of graphics options you can tweak to keep framerates smooth." They do
not address
an unconfirmed report that the physical version of the game spans seven
DVDs. Finally TechRadar explains
Why GTA 5 on PC took so long to get here - and why it was worth the wait.
Here's the official announcement of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided to go along with
the reveal and video
from the game: Square Enix® and Eidos-Montréal®, the award-winning studio
behind the critically acclaimed, multimillion-selling Deus Ex: Human
Revolution®, today announced that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided™, the next chapter in
the legendary Deus Ex® franchise, is in development for the PlayStation®4
computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment
system from Microsoft, and Windows PC. The action role-playing game brings one
of the most well-known, immersive and discussed worlds to the newest generation
of consoles and high-end PCs.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided takes place in 2029, two years after the events of
Human Revolution and the infamous ‘Aug Incident’ in Panchaea that resulted in
the death of millions at the hands of those who had installed augmentations.
This event has created a huge divide between those who have augmentations, and
those who do not. Amongst this emotional turmoil are various factions looking to
manipulate the public by twisting public opinion of augmentation to further
their own agenda and hide the truth of what really happened.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided also continues the story of Adam Jensen, a former
biotech company security chief turned super-augmented, anti-terrorist agent
playing by his own rules. Jensen has been empowered with all new augmentations,
enabling him and the player a greater sense of self-control as they explore all
new locations in-game. As social and political tensions reach a major turning
point, Jensen and conspiracies surrounding the Illuminati continue toward an
inevitable crossroads … and possibly, an epic showdown.
“For 15 years, Deus Ex has been a point of conversation across the games
industry and beyond, whether the topic is the franchise’s unique gameplay or
topical narrative focused on advanced biotechnology and human augmentation,”
said David Anfossi, Head of Studio, Eidos-Montréal. “What began with Deus Ex:
Human Revolution goes to a whole new level in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, diving
even deeper into this discussion and, in turn, offering fans an all-encompassing
experience, one which will challenge their skills as players and emphasize
decision-making based on real world topics.”
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will also mark a new era in Eidos-Montréal’s
technology, utilizing the advanced visual and immersive capabilities of the Dawn
Engine™, specifically built for the recent generation of consoles and PC. Under
the umbrella of the Gaming Evolved program, AMD and Eidos-Montréal have been
collaborating on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and the game will feature Microsoft’s
DirectX® 12 support as well as AMD’s TressFX™. These features will not only
raise the bar in game performance but bring unrivalled visual fidelity to the
Deus Ex franchise..
The release date for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be announced at a later date.

GamesBeat has word on how the gold price of the new WoW Token for World of
Warcraft has plummeted since yesterday's introduction of this new commodity for
World of Warcraft. They note that it's hard to gauge to what degree this is
influenced by early adopters experimenting with trying to make a quick profit by
turning these around, but that doesn't stop them from trying to catch the
falling knife and analyze the economics of this: Blizzard set the in-game
price at 30,000 gold, but it said that the price would change depending on the
market. After just one day, the WoW Token has dropped to 22,631 gold, down 24.6
percent.
Obviously, supply is overtaking demand. It’s likely that players rushed to buy
WoW Tokens with cash and put them on the auction house with the hope of making
some gold. That likely flooded the market.
Still, 22,631 gold isn’t a small chunk of virtual change. Only regular players
with max-level character will likely have that much on them. However, if the
price hovers around there (or goes lower), many high-end players will give up
their $15 a month subscription and spend some gold on WoW Tokens.
Steam News announces the

The
SCS Software blog has word that another open beta version of the upcoming
Scandinavia add-on for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is inbound, and that they have
set May 7th as the tentative release date for the cargo transport expansion
(thanks
CarGamingBlog). Here's a
recent teaser trailer,
and word: We are stabilizing the 1.17 ETS2 update with the goal of releasing another
open beta soon. In fact we hoped to surprise you and get it out still this week,
but late on Friday it became clear that we are not ready yet.
The graphics rendering pipeline is undergoing quite some overhaul to speed
things up ahead of release of Scandinavia. We see that it improved framerate
stability on low-end computer configurations, the jury is still out whether it
helps the same way on high-end computers. We are battling some last-minute bugs
creeping in now, and the programmers insist on spending a couple of extra days
to have a build stable enough for public consumption. We expect 1.17 public
Steam beta will see the light of day next week, fingers crossed that the coders
fix all the problems by then.
The good news is - our ultimate goal is clear and we are on path: release
of Scandinavia DLC is scheduled for May 7, 2015. Yesterday we already
released a little teaser just about that. If you haven't noticed it already,
check it out: Continue here to read the full story.
A couple of unconfirmed reports suggest a delay is brewing for Dead Island 2,
the zombie sequel that still carries a spring 2015 release date, which means it
should come pretty soon. A
post on Videogamer notes that the game's release date has been changed to
read simply "2015," adding that "VideoGamer.com understands that Dead Island 2
may even have been pushed back as far as autumn." They do not hint at where this
understanding originates, and say Deep Silver has not responded to their
inquiries. The other mention of this comes in a tweet by
Eurogamer
CZ, saying: "@VG_Dave been told from our internal sources few weeks ago that
DI2 is now set for September date." Thanks
PSU.
The CantKillProgress Twitch
channel is now showing a looping video saying to check for a trailer and
more info for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on
Deusex.com, which seems as dead as disco under the load. The cinematic
trailer can be viewed, however, as it is posted
on Steam ( Update:
and YouTube now as well,
thanks nin) along with screenshots and a description, which reads: The
year is 2029, and mechanically augmented humans have now been deemed outcasts,
living a life of complete and total segregation from the rest of society.
Now an experienced covert operative, Adam Jensen is forced to operate in a world
that has grown to despise his kind. Armed with a new arsenal of state-of-the-art
weapons and augmentations, he must choose the right approach, along with who to
trust, in order to unravel a vast worldwide conspiracy. Continue here to read the full story.
Now that the cat is out of the
bag, the
Deus Ex blog has word to expect more revelations about Deus Ex: Mankind
Divided today at noon Eastern Time. They don't say much about plans to
continue the RPG/shooter series, simply stating (yesterday): "Come see the future of Deus
Ex, tomorrow at 09:00 PDT / 12:00 EDT / 17:00 BST / 18:00 CET on
http://www.twitch.tv/cantkillprogress."
It's not yet mentioned on the Rockstar
Games website, but preloads began yesterday for preorders of the Windows
edition of Grand Theft Auto V to pave the way for its release on April
14th. If you preordered the PC edition of the open-world action game, you should
have received a key and instructions by now, so if you haven't it's time to ask
why. The preloads are particularly appropriate in this case, as the download is
60 GB, and it's not always coming across at full speed (at times it is not even
coming across at full modem speeds, though this is drastically improved today).
Unfortunately the download process is going to put a hurting on your computer
for the lengthy period it runs, as we see it here averaging about 25% usage on a
quad-core CPU. For those at all CPU or bandwidth limited, getting the disc
version seems advisable.
There's a new
Star
Control FAQ on Tiny Little Frogs as Brad Wardell fills us in a bit more on
plans to bring back the space strategy series in a modern form. He explains the
rights issues that will allow Stardock to use the name and concept, but not the
alien races from the original games, which are the property of Activision. He
says they consider the first two Star Control games canon, and they hold
out the possibility they may some day be able to use the original aliens in
another installement in the series, perhaps even as part of a collaboration with
original developers, Toys for Bob (currently working on Activision's
Skylanders). Their first Star Control reboot is apparently still far off,
however, as the FAQ explains it is not due "for a while," noting that "the 25th
anniversary of Star Control 2 is 2017." They also say they don't expect to
release a commercial HD remaster of either of the first two games. Here's a bit
on how they are handing adding new aliens to the game: Q: How does
Stardock plan to handle the new aliens?
A: The new Star Control universe will be broken up into "star clusters". The
base game will include the "Home" star cluster which includes the Earthlings
along with a dozen or more new aliens presenting their own challenges to the
player.
Think of the 500 planet or so galaxy of Star Control 2 as being a star cluster
in the new Star Control. In addition to providing a star cluster of this scope,
we will also be including the tools for players to design their own ships (see
GalCiv III), their own aliens, their own stories, star systems, star clusters,
etc. Players can then literally make their own star clusters and upload them to
add them to the Star Control universe. What aliens, stories, ships, and star
systems people make will be up to them.
Tripwire Interactive announces that Killing Floor 2 will hit Early Access on
Steam on April 21st, saying the first-person shooter sequel will be priced at
$29.99 (US), ₤19.99 (UK), and €26.99 (EU). Here's more on the plan: During
the Early Access period on Steam players will be able to dive into a fully
functional, highly polished subset of KILLING FLOOR 2 content, including:
- 3 non-linear levels
- 4 perk classes
- 27 weapons
- 11 Zeds
- 7 playable characters, including a female
character
- 1 boss character (not the Patriarch)
- Mod SDK supporting custom level creation
Tripwire is known for listening to and engaging with their fans and it will
be no different with KILLING FLOOR 2. During the Steam Early Access period the
team is excited to garner real-time feedback from its loyal community and brand
new players, in order to continue to hone and refine the gameplay experience to
provide the best possible experience for the full official launch.
Game Studio M2H and Blackmill Games announce an April 28th release date for
Verdun, their military-themed first-person shooter set in the trenches of
World War I. The game is currently being put through its paces in Early Access
on Steam, and word is
the official release will be celebrated with a
Verdun Tournament. Here's a
rundown on the game: The game includes many historically accurate features
such as highly realistic WW1 weaponry, historically accurate maps based on the
real battlefields of the Western Front and authentic uniforms and equipment. The
game immerses you into one of the bloodiest conflicts ever fought in Europe.
The nature of the merciless trench warfare of that time offers a never seen
before FPS battlefield that is ideal for tactical squad gameplay; Verdun’s
gritty Frontlines game mode, and a pure and fun challenge in the rifle
Deathmatch mode.
The Frontlines game-mode stands out in its tactical depth. The realistic
trenches are very challenging to fight in and require a combination of teamwork
and tactical cunning to achieve victory. As you and your squad-mates fight and
gain more experience, you can level up one of the different types of squads you
can choose from, whom each have their own tactics and roles. Drive your enemies
from their trenches and dominate the Western Front!
This trailer features
a first look at gameplay from Stars Beyond Reach, a sci-fi 4X strategy
game, and Arcen Games also now offers
Stars Beyond Reach: Tales
of Woe Part 1 of 3, kicking off a three-part animated series with a humorous
take on the game. The game is expected to come within reach on June 5th for
Windows, Linux, and OS X, and in the meantime, here's a description: SBR
takes place on a hostile world where you are the newcomer and you have to find
your way among the 13 other established races. The game has a different approach
to combat (eschewing the typical "units on tiles" model and instead using a
completely "buildings on tiles" approach), carries inspirations from the
citybuilding genre, and contains a hybrid set of victory conditions -- you can
"dominate" each alien race militarily, diplomatically, economically,
intellectually, or via entertainment or espionage.
Once you have dominated all surviving races via any of those 6 categories, you
win the game. OR, there are four other victory paths that have nothing to do
with the other races at all. Sure, they'll be friends or foes as you work toward
these special endgames... but in these endgames, it is the planet itself that is
your chief enemy. Continue here to read the full story.
Congrats to the women's NCAA champs, though again, I won't name names, to avoid
spoiling that, just in case. Not as much of a spoiler, or an accomplishment, but
congrats to the New York Rangers, as this local hockey team won the
Presidents' Trophy
for the best record in the NHL. Last time they did that, they won the Stanley
Cup (ask your grandparents, they may actually remember).
