Square Enix
tweets the more of their three-day game reveal. They now offer three
"encrypted files," and again offer the audience the chance to "decide what
happens next," which has lead to a new record for users in a
Twitch stream saying "switch
camera." This all seems moot, as
GameInformer now reveals development of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, a
new installment in the action/RPG series they say is coming to Windows, Xbox
One, and PlayStation 4, though it does not yet carry an official release date.
The title of this was revealed
last year through the discovery
of a trademark which was followed by rumors
about what it will involve. Here's the overview: The original Deus Ex is
one of the most critically acclaimed shooter/RPG hybrids of all-time. In 2011,
Eidos-Montreal resurrected the dormant franchise with Human Revolution, giving
the series an updated look while remaining true to the player choice-driven
gameplay. Eidos-Montreal knew its game wasn’t perfect, and has worked to improve
the series' combat systems and boss encounters for the latest entry in the
series – Mankind Divided.
Set in 2029, two years after the events of Human Revolution, Adam Jensen returns
and joins forces with an Interpol-funded task force aiming to hunt down and
capture augmented terrorists in a world that now hates and fears transhumans.
Jensen has a new suite of augmentations that allow him to cleverly navigate
stealth, combat, and social interactions, but how Jensen chooses to solve every
problem is entirely up to you.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt website
now offers sales of an Expansion Pass for CD Projekt RED's upcoming action/RPG
sequel, revealing plans for two add-ons, Hearts of Stone, expected in
October, and Blood and Wine, expected next year. Here's word from
GOG.com: The
Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is almost here. That means the game is pretty much
finished, and the devs are about to take a deep breath while CD-presses and hype
machines slowly wind up to take things through the home stretch. It's not gold
yet, but now that development is coming to an end, the CD PROJEKT RED team is
ready to start their work on two new, ambitious monster-hunting expansions.
The expansions will be called Hearts of Stone, and Blood and Wine. Combined,
they'll offer over 30 hours of new adventures for Geralt, and the latter
introduces a whole new major area to roam. More items, gear, and characters
(including a few familiar faces) will all be crafted with the same attention to
detail as the game itself.
Hearts
of Stone is a 10-hour adventure across the wilds of No Man's Land and the
nooks of Oxenfurt. The secretive Man of Glass has a contract for you - you'll
need all your smarts and cunning to untangle a thick web of deceit, investigate
the mystery, and emerge in one piece.
Blood
and Wine is the big one, introducing an all-new, playable in-game region to
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It will take you about 20 hours to discover all of
Toussaint, a land of wine, untainted by war. And to uncover the dark, bloody
secret behind an atmosphere of carefree indulgence.
There used to be a time when buying an add-on disk or expansion for your game
really meant something. That's what CD PROJEKT RED are going for, it's about
bringing that old feeling back. You can take it from our very own iWi, (that's
Marcin Iwinski, co-founder of CD PROJEKT RED):
"We’ve said in the past that if we ever decide to release paid content, it will
be vast in size and represent real value for the money. Both of our expansions
offer more hours of gameplay than quite a few standalone games out
there.”

a Season 3 preview). Here are the version 2.2.0 highlights:

Endless Loop Studios announces a May 1st release date for Survivor Squad:
Gauntlets on Steam,
saying this is when the top-down strategic shooter will leave early access for
Windows, OS X, and Linux. You can find all the details on the game on
its official website, and
you can take a look at gameplay in
this recent trailer.
Here's word on the game and the included editor: It is a Strategy-Action
game where you control your Squad of Survivors and command them through various
Gauntlets with unique events and items while fighting the Infected. Each
Survivor can only see within his Field of View so Line of Sight is an extremely
important mechanic of the game, you cannot shoot what you cannot see. Develop
your formations, move as a unit and cover every corner. Leave no man behind!
Survivor Squad: Gauntlets also features a very powerful Editor that has been
used to build all the Developer Content you see in the game. It let's you place
all kinds of Objects and interact with them through hundreds of possible Event
Actions and manipulate them with Variables and Event Triggers. Anything from
Lasers to Sentry Guns to Buttons and even Custom Interfaces! The editor is
essentially a visual programming language so if you can imagine it, you can
build it! Along with the Editor comes several tools for sharing and playing

Square Enix
tweets about the ARG they
began yesterday
for a new game reveal, which is now unfolding on
its own Twitch channel which
has its own Twitch

A
March Monthly Report on the Roberts Space Industries has the latest on
Star Citizen, Cloud Imperium's crowd-funded space combat game (thanks
88fingers). This includes the usual roundup of reports from the various
sub-studios working on different aspects of the game, and offers links to a
couple of recent videos, including
Meet the Devs episode
introducing Gurmukh Bhasin and a
SXSW montage. Here's
the intro: Welcome back for another monthly report! As the month of March
comes to a close and we usher in April, it’s a good time to look back and
reflect upon what was accomplished! March saw the release of the 1.1.0 update
for Arena Commander, as well as the public showcasing of our work on the FPS and
Social modules at PAX East and SXSW respectively. Not only is it always a
pleasure to demonstrate and showcase our work at these kinds of events, but it
is also a great joy to be able to meet with all the backers who attend and share
our enthusiasm for making the BDSSE! It’s always very inspiring and motivating
for team members to be able to meet with Citizens and discuss the project. Our
ability to make this dream a reality is all predicated on your support and
shared vision and we deeply appreciate that support!
A
post on the Paradox Interactive Forums has details on a new bug-fix patch
that's now available for Cities: Skylines to update the urban planning
game to version 1.0.7c (thanks Quboid). These notes encompass three different
patches, as changes for version 1.0.7 and 1.0.7b are included, with word: "You
might recognize some of these patch notes from previous threads, the reason
being that we patched previously and then retracted it due to unexpected
technical issues." Here's the change list: Continue here to read the full story.
A new user-created
video discusses plans to patch Battlefield 4 with new network code
for the military shooter that can update at up to 144 Hz. This
is presented by Westie, who offers his impressions of playing with this on a
test server and explains the various glitches this should help address,
including one-shot kills. When this
will emerge from the Community Test Environment and come to the full game is not set, but word is this will be soon. Thanks
VG247. Continue here to read the full story.
Battle.net explains more
of how WoW Token's will work in World of Warcraft, offering
a video selling the
idea of buying this new in-game commodity. The MMORPG is currently down for
maintenance, and the tokens will be live in The Americas region when it comes
back online. This article
has more on the rollout, noting: "While Tokens will be available immediately
from the Shop, please note that there may be a delay before Tokens put up for
sale on the Auction House become available for purchase with gold." Here's a refresher: Once purchased, a Token can then be put
up for sale in a region-wide exchange via a new Game Time tab in the Auction
House. (Note that while you’ll see the new Game Time tab in that auction house
with the launch of Patch 6.1.2, it won’t be active until the WoW Token launches
in your region.) While the rest of the Auction House will remain realm-based, a
region-wide WoW Token exchange will provide the largest possible pool of
prospective buyers and ensures everyone has access to a vibrant, active Token
marketplace. In the Americas, Europe, Korea, and Taiwan, players who purchase a
WoW Token from the Auction House will be able to redeem it for 30 days of game
time. Continue here to read the full story.
GfK Chart-Track now offers their
top 30 list of the bestselling PC games for the week ending April 4th, where
The Sims 4: Get to Work has commuted into the top spot, while Dark Souls II:
Scholar of the First Sin settles in at number five. On the
all platforms top 40 chart for the same period the new Dark Souls II package
debuts at number eight and Battlefield Hardline draws a hard line to remain
number one. Here's their
write-up: Easter is here and EA’s ‘Battlefield Hardline’ (-40%) makes
it three weeks out of three at the Top, with a surging ‘GTA V’ (+35%) up 2 to
No2.
Sony’s big new PS4 release last week ‘Bloodborne’ by From Software (-55%) drops
1 place to No3 and there are plenty of Easter deals affecting the charts this
week. EA’s ‘FIFA 15’ climbs 1 place to No4 (+44%) and Ubisoft climb impressively
for a second week, up a further 3 places to No5 with ‘Far Cry 4’ - one of the
big Easter sale beneficiaries (+116%).
The big new release this week at No8 is Bandai Namco’s multi-format ‘Dark Souls
II: Scholar of the First Sin’, which also happens to be the second From
Software-developed title within the Top 10 in the space of 2 weeks. Also
debuting this week is EA’s first Sims 4 expansion ‘The Sims 4: Get to Work’ at
No18. The final new release within the Top 40 is Nintendo’s epic action-RPG
‘Xenoblade Chronicles’ for 3DS at No27. Developed by Monster Games in
association with Monolith this game only works on the new Nintendo 3DS due to
size and scale.
Congrats to the NCAA champs (hard to miss the news, but I won't spoil it for
those with the game in their DVRs). And congrats to the Mets for being in first
place (had to get that one in quickly).
I had a tremendous time playing Heroes of the Storm last night with my mutant
buddies. We are still terrible, out of embarrassment I won't even detail the
lack of success we have met with except to say we're still playing versus the
AI, rather than real opponents, and we still have problems. But while a couple
are still pretty raw, a couple of us have been playing enough to have some ideas
of what to do, so we are getting better, and as I say, we are having a lot
of fun.
