Archived News:
CapCom Unity has details, while avoiding spoilers, on new Raid Mode options
coming to Resident Evil Revelations 2 Episode 4 when it launches this
week. They also announce
the
promised online Raid Mode is coming in a patch at the end of the
month: Since the game launched on 2/24, you've only been able to play
Raid Mode offline; today we shared news that online Raid Mode play is planned to
arrive on 3/31 via a free software update. If you've been playing since 2/24,
odds are your characters are loaded with powerful skills and great weapons - by
the time the update arrives, those who've picked up the disc (on 3/17 US or 3/20
EU) will have had some time to get caught up and gain some impressive loot of
their own.
Steam News announces the

Todd Alderman is rejoining Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward
almost five years after leaving the
developer amid rancor and lawsuits,
reports Polygon, saying they have confirmed with Activision the former lead
designer will now serve as multiplayer project director. They also say they have
confirmed that Mark Rubin departed the studio earlier this year after serving as
executive producer, but that Activision has refused to comment further on this.
"The chance to come back to Infinity Ward and Call of Duty is something I didn't
think would ever happen," Alderman told them in a statement. "It's been five
years since I've been here and a lot has changed. There are a lot of new faces
and motivated people who want to make something great. It's a really cool game
concept that I want to be a part of. I can't wait to see what we do with a
three-year dev cycle. I'm excited to be back."
GameSpot has a statement from WBIE about plans for LEGO: The Hobbit which
does not confirm they had plans for a Battle of the Five Armies expansion, but
does confirm that no such add-on will be released for the game. They say the
publisher "informally" announced such an expansion at the London Toy Fair, but
now tells them "there are no plans to develop DLC based on the final film of the
trilogy." They also state they are not working on a separate game based on the
third Hobbit movie either. Thanks
Polygon.
Citing "an industry source familiar with the project,"
VideoGamer.com reports plans for a LEGO "toys-to-life" game to be developed
by Traveller's Tales to launch alongside a range of compatible LEGO figures as a
direct competitor to Skylanders and Disney Infinity. They say
Waner Bros. Interactive Entertainment refused to comment on this, but they do
have recent quotes from Traveller's Tales' associate producer Tim Wileman
indicating they are open to the prospect.
The
Battlefield website now offers a
live-action trailer of
a Battlefield: Hardline-inspired heist shot from the unusual perspective of the
loot. This is taken a step further by
360 degree version of
the clip that allows you to scroll your view around just the way real loot would
(or something). Also, with the cops and robbers shooter launching in North
America tomorrow, they have a
new article with everything you need to know to get going, including some
gameplay tips and word on upcoming developer chats, starting with one tomorrow
with Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis. Continue here to read the full story.
There are details
on CapCom Unity on how starting tomorrow, owners of Dead Rising 2 and
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record can choose to make the transition to
Steamworks support. They explain how users can get their Steam keys and transfer
save game progress, but warn
that while DLC purchased on the GFWL marketplace can continue to be played under GFWL,
it will not be available on Steam. Here's an overview: If you
already own these games either through Steam (as GFWL titles) or as boxed retail
copies, you can acquire a free Steamworks copy by following the instructions
below.
Please note that if you have the GFWL version, you can certainly continue
playing there. All of our applicable GFWL titles continue to support LIVE
features and will function normally. To continue playing on GFWL Service though,
you must maintain a separate installation using the GFWL activation key.

A Facebook
Post from Reloaded Games announces they have acquired the rights to Hawken,
the mech shooter that's been
languishing in Steam early access for over a
year now (thanks
Develop). This is not the first time they've inserted themselves into a
situation like this, as Reloaded Games is the publisher that assisted in the
revival of APB after that online game
went under. They promise more details soon, and here's what they have to say
about this for now: I’m pretty excited to *now* be able to announce that
Reloaded Games is the new owner of Hawken. It’s a seriously great honor to be a
part of the Hawken story, and I want to see it thrive. Once the forums are up we
will post more information (they’ve been taking a lot longer than I was
hoping).
The Steam Game and Player
Statistics Page shows a new concurrent user record was set over the weekend
on Steam, where they passed the nine million simultaneous user mark for the
first time, topping out at 9,068,777 (for now, we've seen these figures adjusted
in the past). The last highwater mark we reported for Valve's online service was
8,665,266 users exactly one month ago.
Thanks

the persistent universe!" Continue here to read the full story.
GfK's new U.K. sales charts are online for the week ending March 14th. Football
Manager 2015 continues to keep a leg up on the competition on the
PC Entertainment Top 30 where Assassin's Creed: Rogue enters at number 10.
On the
All Platforms Top 40 Grand Theft Auto V returns to the top spot on a chart
with two new entries in the top 10, DMC: Definitive Edition at five and
Sniper
Elite 3 Ultimate Edition at 10. Here's
their summary: After
3 consecutive weeks of new IP No1’s (Evolve/The Order/Dying Light) it’s a return
to the Top for ‘GTA V’ (+49%).
It's an 8th week at No1 since launch and the first since week 4 this year. The
latest GTA still needs another 2 weeks at the top to equal the record for GTA
series No1’s (held by GTA: Vice City for PS2, 10 weeks at No1, launched in week
45/2002, achieved in the first 11 weeks on sale). Warner’s ‘Dying Light’ (-43%)
only drops to No2, EA’s ‘FIFA 15’ is stable at No3 (+1%) and Microsoft climb 2
places to No4 with ‘Minecraft: Xbox Edition’ (-1%).
After all the new IP we now have the release of some remastered HD editions /
complete collections, with Capcom’s ‘DMC: Definitive Edition’ debuting at No5
for PS4/Xbox One and 505 Games’ ‘Sniper Elite 3: Ultimate Edition’ new at No10
for PS3/PS4/360/Xbox One. The new ‘Sniper Elite 3: Ultimate Edition’ release is
itself right behind the 2 week old ‘Zombie Army Trilogy’ (No9) which is a stand
-alone expansion of the award-winning Sniper Elite series – both games developed
by Rebellion in the UK.

Here's a spoiler warning for those still planning on watching The Jinx: The
Life and Deaths of Robert Durst, which concluded on HBO last night, but I
can write around the actual revelation, so it's not that spoilery. The news is
out there pretty prominently without any such warnings anyway, so the point is
probably moot. In fact, it was just a stroke of luck it wasn't spoiled for me as
well, as it was only right after the pretty shocking conclusion to the
miniseries that I noticed the
related news headline sitting right on my mobile phone. Having that come
right on the day of the final episode sure does give a strange sense of being
more in the middle of a story than usual. Wild stuff to say the least.
