Publisher Grey Box announces Grey Goo is now available
on Steam for Windows
PCs, offering the latest real-time strategy game from genre veterans Petroglyph.
Word is: "Those that purchase the game this weekend will receive a limited
edition soundtrack from legendary videogame composer Frank Klepacki." Here's
a recent launch trailer
along with more on the game and its pedigree: Grey Box partnered with
acclaimed design studio Weta Workshop, best known for their work on The Lord of
the Rings film trilogy, to help create and define a fantastic yet fully realized
universe for Grey Goo’s story to breathe in. Three unique factions bring the
game’s sci-fi setting to life: the resourceful Beta, the technologically
advanced Humans and the all-consuming and destructive Goo. Each race offers
distinctive army, base and upgrade dynamics, giving players the tools to devise
and experiment with a variety of asymmetric play styles and strategies for
all-out warfare.
Grey Goo combines the best elements of traditional RTS gameplay with modern
design standards, emphasizing base-building, unit management and tactical
choices with a focus on intelligent action and tension over tedium and
frustration. Experience the rise of the Goo as it unfolds from each faction’s
perspective in Grey Goo’s single-player campaign. Multiplayer allows up to four
players to compete locally (LAN) or online, with custom settings available to
tailor matches as desired. Grey Goo also includes a map editor, featuring the
same robust tool kit used by Petroglyph to build all the maps for the
game. Continue here to read the full story.

Indie developer Reakktor Studios announces TOXIKK is now available
on Steam via early
access, allowing admission to the beta for their upcoming arena first-person shooter. An
early access teaser
trailer offers a look at the game, and
the game's forums
contain a roadmap for the game's trip through early access, showing plans to
launch version 1.0 in May. Here's the rundown on what to expect from the
game: Inspired by the big shooters from the late 90s and early 2ks, the
sci-fi/near-future themed game plays as if today's military shooters never
existed: There is no leveling, no regenerating health, no perks, no cover
systems, no classes, no configurable weapons and no iron sight aiming.
Instead you get fast and precise movement (with deeply configurable mouse
controls), double jumps, dodge jumps, booster pick-ups, nine iconic weapons to
be carried around simultaneously, secondary fire modes for every weapon,
vehicular game modes, jump pads, health-packs, lots of vertical gameplay,
optional mutators (incl. instagib) and everything else that made these kind of
games so addictive. The game also features a configurable Bot-Mode to let you
train your skills offline. Continue here to read the full story.
