CarGamingBlog reports that
SPINTIRES developer Pavel Zagrebelnyj has
taken to a Russian social network to complain that U.K. publisher Oovee has
effectively locked him out of his own game, saying: "Sad news… just seemed like
the development process started, I almost finished my map and tools to develop
mods (free upgrade)… as our Englishmen from oovee together with the loot
disappeared. I don’t have permissions to upload the update to Steam. So now I’ll
complete and release map editor, in the version it is now, and this will be end
of Spintires." This is accompanied by claims he has had forum posts deleted to
cut him off from the community for the racing game. Oovee denies deleting posts,
and says that all payments have been made as they should, stating they are
hoping to clear this up, but affirming they own the game outright.
"Unfortunately there have been some communication issues recently which appear
to have lead to this post being made by Pavel on the Russian forum. Oovee has
not been notified of any contract terminations or anything of that matter—a
discussion will be held on the subject to rectify any misunderstandings," says
the publisher. "As Oovee owns the rights to Spintires, we have no plans of our
own to halt and/or cease to develop the game further."
A
Steam Community announcement for
Nuclear Throne players has word that
they will soon each be receiving an additional copy of Vlambeer's early access
roguelike-like that they can gift to a friend (thanks
Polygon). Here's the plan for an instant population explosion in the game:
You've become really adept Nuclear Throne players, and we want to call
upon you for your help. We need new players, people that are great players, that
would love Nuclear Throne, and we need them to be part of our community. We're
sure you know somebody like that, and if you do, we want to ask you to invite
them to the Nuclear Throne community. We need fresh eyes on the game, people
that will still get decimated by Big Bandit and that will complain about the
ravens in the scrapyard. We need to know how they feel about Nuclear Throne, and
we need your help to reach them.
So as a token of appreciation for your continued support, and as a way to grow
the community for valuable feedback, we want to give every owner of Nuclear
Throne by the end of the year (CET) a free, giftable copy of the game on January
1st. This is a one-time gift, and we're afraid we can't make any exceptions to
that date, timezone or any other part of this due to logistics. Some terms and
conditions apply because we had to have those logistically, and we'll spell
those out in a blog post later. Either way, we hope you bring someone wonderful
to the community for 2015.
