The Vox
Machinae website announces the release of a VR demo for Vox Machinae, Space
Bullet's recently announced mech combat game. This requires an Oculus Rift
development kit, the demo page
warns this is a prototype which does not represent the quality or features of
the final product. Word is: "This demo includes a training mission to get you up
to speed on controlling a giant robot, and an action-packed mission in a hostile
environment."
Steam Greenlight Campaign for Hatred mentioned earlier
today is no longer active, as visiting the
page
for the campaign now returns the error.
Eurogamer has a terse statement from Doug Lombardi saying that Valve killed
the campaign: "Based on what we've seen on Greenlight we would not publish
Hatred on Steam. As such we'll be taking it down."
A status report on Assassin's Creed Unity has word that a fourth
patch for Ubisoft's stealth/action sequel that was expected today is "on hold."
The Live Update Team explains: Rigorous quality control is of paramount
importance to us, and your feedback over these past weeks has indicated that it
is important to you as well.
As stated last week, we’d expected to release the patch today (and we know that
many are anticipating its release), but we are choosing to hold off until we can
give you the improvements we’ve promised. We are committed to delivering major
performance improvements, which requires that we refurbish the Paris map and
that will take a few more days to hit the high level of quality our players
deserve.
Thank you very much for your understanding and continued patience.

tester applications from those interested in testing Total War: ARENA,
the upcoming multiplayer game based on Creative Assembly's strategy series. "We
have spent time since the announcement evolving both the gameplay and the
supporting technology, to ensure we deliver smooth online service for

The Verge is engaging in a little piracy-fuelled journalism, reporting the
discovery of an Xbox app in a leaked build of Windows 10, also noting Cortana is
integrated into the upcoming operating system that was never known as Windows 9.
However, it sounds like while this will offer access to Xbox dashboard
functions, it will not include the ability to play games: Elsewhere
there’s also a new Xbox app. It appears to act as a gateway to the entire Xbox
ecosystem, including access to achievements, friends lists, activity feeds, and
the Store. Microsoft notes that it’s an early preview of the app, so it may well
include SmartGlass integration in future. It’s also a first glimpse at how the
software maker is designing its native Windows 10 apps, and the calculator app
has been updated in a similar way.

drifting derelict starships, and alien embassies. Planets can hold treasure or
death (or both). Away teams can discover ancient artifacts, explorable caves, or
zombies in the darkened corridors of a floating hulk. There are twelve alien
races to interact with, each with their own histories and quests.
Full modding support means that Approaching Infinity is really Approaching
Infinity Plus. Enjoy creating your own favorite sci-fi franchise, all without
the need of coding experience. A Modding Guide is now available on
the Official
Approaching Infinity Product Page.
Destructive Creations now offers a new " Call
To Arms" teaser trailer from Hatred, the isometric shooter from the Polish

SanctuaryRPG: Black Edition is now available for early access
on Steam, offering a
throwback RPG for Windows. And while some developers mean 8-bit or even 16-bit
graphics when they say throwback, Black Shell Games takes that a step farther,
as this game is presented entirely in ASCII. The game is 37% off during early
access, and here's more on what to expect: As the world's first
fully-ASCII game to grace the Steam platform, SanctuaryRPG: Black Edition is a
humorous and strategic turn-based dungeon crawling adventure. Drawing heavy
inspiration from both Roguelikes and Japanese RPGs, the game was meticulously
designed to offer a truly compelling role-playing experience complete with a
robust action-rpg inspired combat system.
Black Edition builds upon the classic SanctuaryRPG formula with all new
procedurally generated artwork, as well as a plethora of areas to explore, races
to experiment with, skills to master, and loot to collect. Whether you're a
valiant hero or a dastardly villain, the fate of Sanctuary is in your
hands.
Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris enters
GFK Chart-Track's PC top 30 U.K. sales chart at number 14, the top debut of
the week, as Football Manager 215 remains the number one game. On the
all platforms chart there's even less movement, as the top five remains
completely static. Here's
their overview: ‘FIFA 15’ (-21%) remains at No1 in the run-up to
Christmas and the Top 5 remains the same, with Activision’s ‘Call of Duty:
Advanced Warfare’ at No2 (-27%), Rockstar/Take 2’s ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ at No3
(-22%), Ubisoft’s ‘Far Cry 4’ at No4 (-13%) and Warner’s ‘Lego Batman 3: Beyond
Gotham’ at No5 (-29%).
Ubisoft’s ‘Just Dance 2015’ jumps 5 places to No6 (+11%) and is extremely
popular on Wii with 66% of sales on that format - the title is now also No1 on
the All Formats Budget Chart. Activision’s ‘Destiny’ jumps 7 places to No9
(+29%) with PS4 and Xbox One editions proving extremely popular. There’s no All
Formats Top 40 debut for the 2 formats of ‘Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris’
but the title debuts at No17 on PS4 and No14 on PC.
London Calling, yeah I was there too. And you know what they said? Well some of
it was true!
Yesterday was the 35th anniversary of the release of
London Calling, the
Clash's masterpiece album. For perspective, the noteworthy album 35 years before
London Calling was released in 1979 was, well, nothing, because the first LP record
didn't even appear until 1948. And the album was prescient, as phony Beatlemania
has indeed bitten the dust, though we certainly have enough other phony stuff to
take its place.
