Dejobaan Games announces Elegy for a
Dead World is now available
on Steam for Windows, OS
X, and Linux at a 10% launch discount. Here's word on this Kickstarted game
about writing: In Elegy, you'll travel to three worlds and write stories
about their long-dead societies. You’ll lose yourself in settings inspired by
the works of poets Keats, Byron, and Shelley, and use the game's system of
writing prompts to help create your own masterpieces.
Explore 27 different writing challenges, through which you create narratives
about the worlds you visit, from multiple perspectives. In one challenge, you
play an archaeologist, uncovering clues and writing about a city's final days;
in another, you're a thief, composing a song about searching the wreckage for
valuables; and in another, you're a bard penning a lament in rhyming couplets.
When you've finished writing a story, share it with other players via Steam
Workshop; then read others' works, and commend your favorites.

The
Alien: Isolation website has details on new difficulty modes Creative
Assembly has added to both ends of the spectrum for Alien: Isolation,
their recently released survival/horror game (thanks nin). If you are a Ripley,
there's a new Nightmare mode offering greater challenges for your skills, and
there is also a new Novice mode if you are a Hicks, so you won't have to keep
declaring your game over, man. Here are the details: Nightmare Mode:
We’ve seen a number of players with extremely strong dispositions demand more
challenges for their Alien: Isolation encounter – another try at survival
against tougher odds.
In response to your requests, we’ve created Nightmare Mode, a new difficulty
level, which should challenge players to beat the ultimate Alien: Isolation
experience.
Explore the world of Sevastopol with a motion tracker featuring a damaged
display and undependable information. Resources will be even more limited, the
map systems have gone offline and fellow survivors and synthetics are even more
deadly and aggressive.
In this heightened, terrifying atmosphere, our Alien will be hunting you like
never before. With an upgraded AI that has amplified its fatal hostility, every
step you take may be your last. Our monster is more adaptive, learning from your
tactics with chilling speed and with intensified senses that will give you no
second chances…
Novice Mode:
Similarly, we have had requests from the community to have more time and
breathing space with which to explore Sevastopol. Therefore, to balance the
horror of Nightmare Mode, we also have Novice Mode.
For those who may have already survived the terror first time around, take on
the experience again with more of a potential reprieve…
You’ll be given more resources and ammunition, with synthetics and fellow
survivors being less troublesome. Our Alien will also be more forgiving, more
easily distracted and less aggressive in his hunting style.

numerous enhancements and improvements over WMMA3 including allowing multiple
players (up to 8) the ability to control MMA organizations around the world, an
enhanced scouting and player negotiation system, revamped fight engine and a

Dovetail Games announces that next Thursday will see the
promised Steam rerelease of Flight Simulator X, the flying game sequel
they licensed from Microsoft. Here's word on the re-launch, which they say will
carry a "spectacular introductory price": Microsoft Flight Simulator X:
Steam Edition delivers an authentically accurate aerial experience for
simulation enthusiasts and those with a passion for all things flight. Pilots
can climb into the cockpits of over twenty aircraft, from commercial and fighter
jets to single-engine private planes and helicopters. More than 80 missions will
test players in a variety of ways, including search and rescue challenges, test
pilot scenarios, races and more. The game features updated multiplayer
functionality, Windows 8.1 support and over 24,000 airports, delivering a
beautiful, connected world and vast horizon begging to be explored.
First released in 2006, Microsoft Flight Simulator X’s arrival on Steam marks
the first exciting steps in the global licensing deal between Dovetail Games and
Microsoft announced earlier this year. In addition to distributing Microsoft
Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition, Dovetail Games is also working on its own
original titles based on Microsoft’s flight technology, carrying on nearly three
decades of tradition established by this award-winning franchise. Dovetail Games
and partners will also be launching a range of add-ons for Microsoft Flight
Simulator X: Steam Edition on Steam in the New Year.
Happy birthday DOOM, as the game that so many of us love first launched on this
date 21 years ago, making it legal to drink in any state. I was just
fooling around with the seminal shooter recently, but was frustrated by the
inability to shut off vertical mouse movement, a standard feature of DOS mouse
drivers that we've lost over the years. A little poking around lead me to
this
thread with a procedure on how to address this in DOOM II which I am going
to check out and hopefully wipe out some cacodemons.
