Archived News:
The Before website is now online,
heralding development of Before, a new survival game set during the stone
age from Facepunch Studios ( RUST, Garry's Mod). This doesn't yet have a release
date, but they say they are working "at the moment" towards creating a playable
alpha, and that they hope to eventually release the Unity engine game to
Windows, OS X, and Linux. This has been in the works for a while, so there are
already a couple of updates on the game's
development blog, the most recent
of which includes a season
transition timelapse trailer with a look at what they're working on, and
there's an announcement
trailer from the show. Here's a bit on the game: Finding food and shelter is
an everyday struggle; and keeping your tribe safe and healthy is not always a
simple task.
Not only must the tribe hunt and forage each day, they must also protect their
young, fend off wild animals and battle the elements. Continue here to read the full story.
A new trailer from The
Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt released at the game awards show offers another
look at CD Projekt RED's upcoming sequel. In the cinematic clip Batman Geralt
talks with some NPCs and according to
reports from the show, a new playable character is introduced along the way. This is
presented as a mystery, but the clip refers to someone called Ciri, who
apparently has nothing to do with iPhones or Tom Cruise, so she may
be this new character. Stay tuned. Continue here to read the full story.

A new reveal trailer
from last night's Game Awards 2014 show offers a first look at King's Quest,
next year's planned return of the beloved adventure game franchise. Here's word
on the clip: The trailer premiered at The Game Awards 2014, where King’s
Quest series creator Roberta Williams received high honors alongside her husband
and fellow Sierra co-founder, Ken Williams, in a ceremony that looked back on
the long legacy of King’s Quest and Sierra. The duo received the Industry Icon
Award to celebrate their contributions to video game culture and creativity.
Developed by The Odd Gentlemen, the new King’s Quest reimagines the core
characters and familiar storylines of King Graham’s early journeys, setting up
new chapters tied to – but independent of – the original games. Continue here to read the full story.
Here's a launch trailer

Isis, to defeat the evil god Set. Players must work together to defeat hordes of

The folks from Consolidated Edison were busy outside the BlueTower yesterday
replacing the gas main that runs under the street. This was a little scary when
the entire surrounding area began to stink of that stuff they add to the gas so
it's detectible, but I was reassured this was all routine. It was also routine
to check our system thoroughly before restoring our gas, which was a little
nerve-wracking, as they just twisted a wrench to shut it off, but had to
follow a fairly rigorous safety checklist to turn it back on again. So it was
only after testing for leaks and the proper operation of our meter did we get
fully restored. This certainly makes sense, as natural gas leaks are incredibly
dangerous, but when the Con Ed guy explained that he was the one who had to
deliver bad news to people about repairs they might need before they could get
heat back, it provoked a little anxiety that he might have bad news for us.
Fortunately this was not the case.
