The Steam page for
Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage now offers a new offers a new Director's Cut
for this Lovecraft-inspired sequel, which is a free update, while the game is on
sale for 15% off for new customers.
This trailer shows how
the game is improved, and
this post has all the details: Having released a revamped version of
Darkness Within: In Pursuit of Loath Nolder on Steam just three weeks ago,
Iceberg Interactive and developer Zoetrope Interactive are now delighted to
announce today’s Steam launch of the Director’s Cut Edition of the sequel,
Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage.
As one of the few games that have actually captured the H.P. Lovecraft vibe, the
Darkness Within series creates an unsettling atmosphere, making the player feel
uneasy throughout the game, without reverting to actual gore. This is perhaps
best illustrated in the brand new trailer, when the main character refers to the
voices only he can hear: “Hearing this, I know that every sane person would call
me mad, and I truly hope I am...”
With the opportunity to present the game on the Steam platform, we created a
much improved version, enhancing graphics, adding new locations and new puzzles;
making the game a great experience for both new players as well as those
familiar with the series. We really hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we did
creating it. Continue here to read the full story.
The Fighter Collection announces DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst is now available
for sale on the DCS
E-Shop, offering the latest addition to DCS World. Here's
a new trailer, and
here's the deal: Like previous DCS World titles, DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
features a painstakingly reproduced model of the aircraft, including the
external model, fully interactive cockpit, mechanical systems, and a
Professional Flight Model (PFM). Along the lines of our DCS: P-51D Mustang and
DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora titles, DCS: Bf 109K-4 Kurfürst places you behind the
controls of a powerful, propeller-driven, piston engine combat aircraft.
Designed long before “fly-by-wire” technology was available to assist the pilot
in flight control or smart bombs and beyond visual range missiles were developed
to engage targets with precision from afar, the Kurfürst is a personal and
exhilarating challenge to master. Powerful and deadly, the last production model
of the only single-engined German fighter to see service throughout World War
II, the Kurfürst provides an exhilarating combat experience to its drivers, and
a worthy challenge to all fans of DCS: P-51D Mustang. Continue here to read the full story.

A new video which is
now marked private on Capcom's YouTube channel reveals plans for Street Fighter V,
an unannounced next installment in the fighting series (thanks
MCV). The video is likely meant to debut at tonight's
Game Awards 2014 or this weekend's
PlayStation Experience, which would explain its sudden appearance and
disappearance. There are captures from the clip preserved on
NeoGAF,
including a concluding slide with the most intriguing aspect of all this, which
is word that this is "exclusively on PS4 and PC." Presumably we'll know more
soon.
A reference to unannounced future plans from inXile Entertainment are included
in an update from the developer about plans to support their two known games.
They brought this up in a backers-only update, but
Rock,
Paper, Shotgun spills the beans on the revelation (thanks nin), which
suggests another classic game is being revived by the folks behind Wasteland
2 and Planescape successor Tides of Numenera. Along the way
inXile's Chris Keenan says they have "another RPG that has been passionately
demanded of us for a while now! It’s still quite early in the process, but we
will have more news on that in the New Year."
The
Paradox Interactive Forums has the announcement from Paradox COO Susana Meza
Graham that they have decided to "freeze" development of
Runemaster, expressing regrets
over the decision concerning this "very ambitious" role-playing game (thanks
Gamer's Hell via rpg codex).
Here's word: I have some news to share with you today regarding
Runemaster. After much internal debate we have made the decision to freeze
development of the project until further notice and move the development team
working on it to other projects within Paradox Development Studio.
This was not an easy decision to make - Runemaster was a very ambitious project
for us, and the team working on it brought all of their passion, dedication, and
talent to the table. Despite our best efforts and a couple of re-scopes,
Runemaster in its current form was unable to live up to the standards we set for
ourselves here at Paradox.
Runemaster was a different type of game for us, and even though we were not able
to fully realize our vision for it, we will take the lessons we learned to heart
as we move forward with new endeavors. We will also look into how we can re-use
the best parts of the game in other ways.
Our aim is to let all the talented developers who worked on the project to
remain with Paradox Development Studio and bring their expertise to the other
great games currently in development.
Nordic Games continues their shopping spree with the announcement of the
acquisition of several titles from dtp entertainment to bolster their adventure
games division (which was The Adventure Company before they acquired it from
JoWooD). They say they have closed a deal to purchase the IPs for The Moment of
Silence, The Mystery of the Druids, and Curse of the Ghost Ship, adding they
will also "take over the commercial use of" Overclocked and 15 Days,
though the distinction they are making about those two games is not clear from
their announcement. "With said IPs, the portfolio of our adventure games
division (The Adventure Company) gets a considerable increase," says Reinhard
Pollice, Business & Product Development Director at Nordic Games. "As adventure
games are not only very close to our hearts, but also an important focus of our
brand strategy, we will make good use of these new opportunities."
Early Access to Quantum Rush has drawn to a close, as
Steam now offers the
official release under the title Quantum Rush Champions, an action/racer
from GameArt Studio.
This community announcement has the details on what's changed for the
release version which includes several new campaigns and other content as well
as bug fixes. Here's a new
launch trailer and here's word: The release version is significantly
more comprehensive than the Early Access game. In addition to extending of the
already available features many new functionalities have been added. There are
e.g. brand new game modes and a new achievements system with over 90 challenges.
The game is available in German, English, Italian, French and Spanish.
Quantum Rush: Champions is designed as an offline single player and offers next
to an arcade mode a career mode with sophisticated campaigns, different game
modes and challenging boss fights, which a player has to master to unlock more
game content. The races are set on gigantic futuristic race tracks on earth and
in space. Continue here to read the full story.
Today is International Ninja Day, a moment of recognition that seems a little
incongruous with stealth, but who am I to argue with ninjas? In a weird
coincidence, as part of my plans to better battle old man winter this year, I
was just yesterday shopping for a balaclava, but didn't pull the trigger on a
purchase. I can only assume these should be on sale today for the occasion, right?
