PC Gamer has a confirmation from Ubisoft that a story on
Kotaku saying the next Assassin's Creed game will be called Assassin's
Creed: Victory, which will be set in Victorian-era England. The report says
this is coming next year from Ubisoft Quebec, and includes details and
screenshots, which Ubisoft confirms are genuine, though they stress that this
doesn't mean they are slowing down on continuing to un-break Assassin's Creed
Unity: It is always unfortunate when internal assets, not intended for
public consumption, are leaked. And, while we certainly welcome anticipation for
all of our upcoming titles, we're disappointed for our fans, and our development
team, that this conceptual asset is now public. The team in our Quebec studio
has been hard at work on the particular game in question for the past few years,
and we're excited to officially unveil what the studio has been working on at a
later date. In the meantime, our number one priority is enhancing the experience
of Assassin's Creed Unity for players.

A new "Red Horse" trailer
from Total War: ATTILA uses the game engine for Creative Assembly's
upcoming strategy sequel to create a cinematic in which "we see the Sassanid
Empire exploiting the confusion around it and striking out in war on its
neighbors." Here's more on the clip that offers details on the game: The
game itself will contain a number of new features around army management and
waging war to bring further depth to this key aspect of the Total War
experience. Most notably, players will have to consider the very real risks of
keeping their armies in line against mounting losses, disloyal generals and
fragmented food supplies.
A rogue commander can entice other wavering characters to mutiny, one of the
triggers at play in the rich, new civil war system. Dark times call for dark
measures, and amongst a variety of tactics players can employ to reduce the risk
of such division, the brutal Roman practice of 'Decimation' (the systematic
slaughtering of a tenth of an army) will restore temporary order at a high
price. Continue here to read the full story.

A tweet from
Guy Cocker reveals the name of Peter Molyneux's next project to be The
Trail, though there are no details for now as the tweet says he's following
up with an interview to learn more (thanks
VG247). It's possible this won't be crowdsourced, as the developer
recently said that "Kickstarter was detrimental to Godus," because of how
the game's concept shifted over time. What he says now is: "I'm not saying I
would never do Kickstarter again, but if I was to do Kickstarter again, I would
say, 'Look, we've done half the game, you can download this demo, you can play
the game. You know what the game's going to be, now we're going to take it from
this point to this point'."
Daedalic Entertainment announces plans to publish Decay – The Mare, a
horror/adventure game from developer Shining Gate Software for Windows and OS X
in February 2015. Two of the three episodes are out, and a complete version will
come along with the release of episode three. You can learn more on the
official website where there's an
episode 1 trailer,
though this is over a year old. Here's part of the announcement: In Decay
– The Mare, you control Sam, an addict who ends up in an institution named
“Reaching Dreams” – hoping to kick his drug problem and clean up his miserable
life. But during the first night, something goes wrong and he gets stuck in a
seemingly endless nightmare. Decay – The Mare is a 3D psychological horror
adventure and homage to the Resident Evil and Silent Hill games, as well as to
horror adventure games like Phantasmagoria, The 11th Hour and Gabriel Knight.
“We’re huge fans of all classic horror-adventure games, and are creating the
Decay series to keep horror gaming alive,” said Fredrik Westlund, Creative
Director of developer Shining Gate.
“Thanks to our work with Daedalic Entertainment, we can complete Decay – The
Mare now, and bring it to a wide audience of PC players, when Daedalic publishes
the game on major digital download platforms, such as Steam.” Continue here to read the full story.
Ten Ton Hammer - Star Citizen's $2,500 Ship of Dreams.
"CIG claims that the ships price was ABOVE RETAIL to help FUND the $20
starter packs that were also of limited quantity. Basically, players
"donating" $2,500 to the glorious cause were helping to fund starter packs
that were half off of their $40 normal price tag. So basically, you give CIG
$2,500 and they give you a ship, with no weapons or equipment (an empty
hull), and at the same time you're helping them discount A VIRTUAL GOOD by
HALF OFF. Even big box retailers are nicer than that. They don't say, "okay
everyone buying these Skylander characters above retail will help us
discount the physical starter kit to get more people addicted!" No, they
just discount things, because they want them to sale.
CIG could just as easily went and discounted the package. The game is paid
for now. There is no need for additional development resources. The game
WILL NOT consumer the current budget, considering they just got in TWO DAYS
what most game developers need to finish THEIR FULL PROJECTS START TO
FINISH. They got basically the SAME AMOUNT they asked for to even make the
game originally from their Kickstarter, this time without Kickstarter fees."
