There is now a playable demo for Pro Evolution Soccer 2015
on Steam, offering the
chance for a hands (and feet) on look at the newest installment in this
association football/soccer series (thanks Frans). The demo has no description,
so here's the overview of the full game: KONAMI returns to the football
field with PES 2015 with a return to core PES values. Thanks to the incredible
FOX Engine, PES 2015 delivers stunning visuals and animation where the world’s
greatest players move and play just their real-life counterparts, while PES ID
ensures that the whole team matches their famed playing style. Every gameplay
element has been retooled for a more responsive experience, while new shooting
and goalkeeper systems ensure the heart-in-mouth feeling that comes with a
top-level game is faithfully recreated. Close control, tackling, and the balance
of play also perfectly reflect that of real football. Similarly, players can now
use the new myClub system to develop an all-conquering side, building from
humble beginnings to create a world-class XI.
With all-new multi-player modes, real-life managers pacing the touchlines and
new live data, PES 2015 does its talking on the pitch.

Ludum Dare winner the Sun and Moon is now available
on Steam, where the
Windows platformer is on sale for 10% off for the first week of release. Here's
a new trailer showing
the game in action, and here's the official description: The Sun and Moon,
the winner of Ludum Dare 29, is a platformer with a unique mechanic: you can
dive into the ground. Momentum is conserved but gravity is reversed, letting you
fling yourself high into the air or deep beneath the surface. The goal is always
straightforward - collect the three orbs in the level and jump into the wormhole
- but spikes, endless drops and impossible heights make this more and more
difficult. Continue here to read the full story.
EA News
announces that those who have preordered Dragon Age: Inquisition on
Origin can begin preloading the RPG sequel
to prepare for its release next week: Starting today, those who have
pre-ordered Dragon Age: Inquisition can download and install the game early,
making it available for play the second it’s available on November 18. With the
world on the brink of collapse, there’s no time to waste.
Just launch Origin, click on the My Games tab, then click on the Dragon Age:
Inquisition tile in your Origin Games Library. After the game finishes
downloading, it will be installed automatically. That's easier than convincing a
templar that not all mages are obsessed with blood magic!

A post from
Blizzard outlines issues that have disrupted the launch of the Warlords
of Draenor expansion for World of Warcraft in various territories.
They indicate that players flooding servers is part of the problem, but also
indicate that some of the issues can be blamed on DDoS attacks on the MMORPG,
saying: "While that solution helped a ton for our North American launch, we ran
into a few other issues, including a distributed denial of service attack, that
resulted in increased latency." Their latest update indicates they should be
just about ready to end the emergency maintenance session they invoked to
address these problems.
Steam News announces
that pre-purchases are now being accepted for the upcoming
Black Sea Colonies Culture
Pack expansion for
Total War: ROME II,
the historical strategy sequel. Here's word on the new factions this will
introduce upon release: "Originally citizens of the Greek States, these
pioneering peoples have settled far from home, intermingling their customs with
those of far-flung societies to create unique cultures of their own. The Black
Sea Colonies bring a rich new gameplay flavour to ROME II through their unique
traits, battlefield units and buildings, and hybrid unit-rosters."
The last we recall hearing about system requirements for Star Citizen was
a couple of years ago when
Cloud Imperium said their space combat game would probably share system
requirements with the CryENGINE upon which it is built. A
subsequent form post outlined steeper system requirements, including an 8GB
RAM minimum, for the game's Dogfighting Module, but also warned that these were
"not final."
DSOGaming recently spoke with Sean Tracy, Engine Technical Director at Cloud
Imperium Games, and promise they will post their full interview soon. In the meantime,
they share his indication that system requirements like that RAM minimum will not be lowered "any time
soon," and that Star Citizen will probably not support DirectX 10 graphics
cards. Here's his answer when asked if the game will run on systems with less
than 8 GB of RAM: "Likely not. We are creating this game with the PC
gamer in mind. Of course performance will be optimized much further than our
current version of Arena Commander but I wouldn’t expect that we would drop the
system requirements any time soon. Additionally on the Direct X 10 front, as
almost every engine/rendering we’d like to put in relies heavily on DX11 and
even DX12 or Mantle I can’t see DX10 cards even existing much longer. It’s
difficult to say, but I don’t expect that the majority of gamers would even have
DX10 cards anymore and so for us to continue support it wouldn’t make
sense."
Early Access to Grass Simulator is now available
on Steam, though one might suspect some non-simulated grass may have been
involved in thinking this one up. The game involves shooting cows with a
revolver, though there is also a Grass Simulation Mode which fulfils the title's
promise. Here's a bit on the more action-packed Classic Mode: "You play as Garry
Rambler, a rogue mercenary that escaped from hell who has sworn to take revenge
upon the illusive cows that lurk among the shadows whom murdered his family,
stuck in a purgatory filled with nothing but cows, grass and more cows. Only
equipped with his moustache, cliché 80's mullet and magnum revolver; the exact
revolver he used to kill the legendary cow god that ordered his family to be
executed, he must fend for himself in a cruel, unforgiving dimension." Thanks

Had a couple of brief power glitches this morning here in the BlueTower. They
were very short, but enough to reset everything not plugged into the UPS, which
is enough to remind one to appreciate it, since it generally sits there
day after day being ignored until moments like this. I'd like to do something to
show my appreciation. Maybe I'll go trip some circuit breakers later just to
give it a little more action.
