TopWare Interactive announces Raven's Cry will not be released this month
as planned, saying the seafaring RPG
should now be expected on November 27th. They offer some good news with the bad,
noting that Linux and SteamOS editions of the game will come at that time in
addition to the previously announced Windows and OS X versions (console versions
are expected in 2015). Here's word: Ahoy! The winds were on our side for a
good bit there, but alas, we’ve hit some rough seas, and it looks like Raven's
Cry will be arriving in port a bit late. We need more time to scrub the decks
and get the guns in working order. We could have just sped through these
treacherous waters — land was right over the horizon! But no captain worth his
salt would put his ship on such a perilous course; after all, we’re beholden to
our loyal fans and our extraordinary community to deliver an exciting and
perfect pirate adventure.
All the recordings have been made, all features are on board, but no sailor
feels safe when his ship is listing. So, to make sure we can count on smooth
sailing form here on out, Raven's Cry will now be released on November 27, 2014
for PC and Mac, the retail and console versions will be out in the first quarter
of 2015. But there’s some good news as well! We recently picked up a coded
message in a bottle informing us that our pirate epic will be coming out on
November 27, on Linux and SteamOS, too.

Paradox Interactive announces an October 30th release date for the Art of War
expansion for Europa Universalis IV, invoking Machiavelli's inspiration, rather
than Sun Tzu (though the latter famously wrote, "when your opponent expects a
sequel, release an add-on"). A new
video developer's diary
celebrates the news with a look at some of the tools this will add to the
player's arsenal in the game. Here's more on the expansion: "I reply that
since war is not a job at which any man can make an honorable living, it should
be left entirely in the hands of princes or governors." – Machiavelli, Art of
War, Book I.
Paradox Interactive today announced that Art of War, the newest and largest
expansion for the award-winning grand strategy game Europa Universalis IV, will
be available worldwide on October 30, 2014. This, the fourth expansion to be
released for Europa Universalis IV, adds a vast array of changes to the game at
the fundamental level, including a dramatic overhaul to the game map itself.
To mark this announcement, we have a new video dev diary, where Martin Anward
who is Project Lead for Europa Universalis IV explains some of the new tools
available to players as they march to war. Learn about new diplomatic options,
the new powers of rebels and other notable changes. Continue here to read the full story.
If May the fourth is Star Wars day, I propose October 10th be declared Empire
Strikes Back day. You know.... "Your 10/10 will freeze before you reach the
first marker!"
