Squad announces the release of a new free content update for
Kerbal Space
Program on Steam,
the early access strategy game which is currently on sale. The update is called
Economic Boom, as it focuses on the balance sheet side of the game. Here's a
bit:
Kerbal Space Program, the award-winning, indie space agency sim game
from Squad, released its latest update, Economic Boom, and it is available to
play today.Updates are free to existing players. KSP: Economic Boom offer new
players the most fully-realized version of the game, which is still in active
development for PC, Mac and Linux as an Early Access title on Steam and via the
game’s website.
Players will experience a new challenge as the Kerbal Space Center, where
players build and launch their rocketships, is now fully destructible. Buildings
can be decimated by poorly-steered rocketships and in the game’s Career Mode,
require costly repairs for players trying to manage their space agency.
A
new trailer from
F1 2014 shows off the return of the Hockenheim circuit, which returns to the
game and the Formula One calendar after a two-year absence. Word is: "The 17
turn Hockenheimring first hosted a GRAND PRIX™ in 1970, and this year’s FORMULA
1 GROSSER PREIS SANTANDER VON DEUTSCHLAND 2014 was won by Lewis Hamilton’s rival
and teammate Nico Rosberg. The two Mercedes drivers are competing to decide the
title in one of the most dramatic and exciting conclusions to a FORMULA ONE™
season in years."

Launch issues with
Battlefield 4 "absolutely" damaged gamers' ability to
trust DICE "to deliver a stable launch or a stable game," DICE LA producer David
Sirland admits
to GameSpot. "I can absolutely say that we lost [player] trust in the game's
launch and the early parts of the year," Sirland said. "We still probably have a
lot of players who won't trust us to deliver a stable launch or a stable game. I
don't want to say anything because I want to do. I want them to look at what
we're doing and what we are going to do and that would be my answer. I think we
have to do things to get them to trust us, not say things to get them to trust
us. Show by doing." He may be overestimating how much trust they had in this
area to begin with, since persistent bugs have been an earmark of the series
from the start, but this is still a contrast to a comment
earlier
this year that the launch of BF4 did not damage the Battlefield brand, though
they later did
later call the
release issues "unacceptable." He says this is fixed going forward, as they have
changed their development process, and explains he is there to regain this lost
trust: "I think from a trust perspective, absolutely," he said. "I think we have
to earn that back. That's why I'm here. That's my end goal. I want to earn our
trust back and I want to make them happy and like Battlefield again."
A new
Letter from the Chairman on the Roberts Space Industries website celebrates
another milestone for
Star Citizen, as the space combat game has now
attracted over $56 million in crowd-source funding, and inviting everyone to
attend CitizenCon on Friday, which will be a virtual celebration of the
work-in-progress. Chairman Roberts outlines the new ship this adds to the game,
puts out the call to vote for their next stretch goal, and concludes with:
"Until then, thank you for your continued support! Your belief in the world
we’re building together is what makes everything possible. I can’t wait to show
you what we have up our sleeves for Friday, so be sure to check back then. And
tell your friends: the Best Damn Space Sim Ever is coming!" Here's word on
CitizenCon:
Let me take this opportunity to invite everyone to CitizenCon!
We will be livestreaming the anniversary presentation on Friday at 7 PM PDT.
CitizenCon will be a celebration of how far we’ve come… and a chance to show you
where we’re going. Expect to hear updates from each of the project’s studios
with a few surprises included. If you can’t make the event live, everything will
be available in the Comm-Link shortly afterwards.
I meant to make another mention of the "blood moon" lunar eclipse today, but it
turns out when they said it was the 8th, they meant the wee hours this morning,
so if you were relying on me for a reminder about this (and why would you be?)
I've let you down. My apologies. As it turns out this was
at 5:00 am local time, so it's probably best to let pictures suffice for
this. Word is there will be two blood moons next year, so there may be better
opportunities to experience this going forward.
