Steam News announces
that Alien: Isolation
is now available, an early release for Creative Assembly's survival/horror game,
which was due tomorrow. Also,
SEGA and Creative Assembly offer
this video from Alien:
Isolation, saying this is the final game trailer before the game's release
tomorrow (showing this is a surprise to them too), also offering an
"accolades" trailer highlighting review scores and flattering
reviewer quotes. Here's a bit on the game: Discover the true meaning of
fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant
dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien™, Ellen
Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission
to unravel the truth behind her mother's disappearance.
As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find
yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an
unpredictable, ruthless Alien.
Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions
and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay
alive. Continue here to read the full story.
Konami announces a release date for the Windows edition of METAL GEAR SOLID
V: GROUND ZEROES, saying this will hit Steam on December 18th. They also
confirm this will have some visual bragging rights over the console editions,
saying: "The company also confirmed it will be 4K compatible and will feature an
increase in the number of simultaneous light sources, the number of models that
can be displayed on-screen and increased shadow resolution." Here's a refresher
on the game: METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES takes place in 1975 and
sets in motion a series of events that culminate in the stunning plotlines of
METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN. GROUND ZEROES centers on Big Boss -
legendary hero and mercenary - as he infiltrates a sprawling secret prison base
called ‘Camp Omega’ in Cuba on a rescue mission. He soon finds himself alone
behind enemy lines with a truly non-linear mission that showcases key advances
to the series made possible by its use of Kojima Productions’ FOX Engine.
GROUND ZEROES is centered on a large open environment, with missions where time
of day and weather have a dynamic effect on the game and its content. The game
offers a total freedom of movement within its missions, with users choosing how
they engage guards, the route they pick, and who they rescue. As such, it offers
incredible replay value and encourages the player to revisit its content in
order to find more of its many secrets. Furthermore, the game features an online
global ranking system where players can compete in unique in-game and mission
challenges and achievements to see how they compare against others around the
world.
UbiBlog has
word of a new release date for The Crew, saying the open-world driving
game will hit the gas on December 2nd, a delay from its
planned November
release. They say the "good reason" for this is "because the teams at Ivory
Tower and Ubisoft Reflections are listening to all of you." They don't go into
much further detail, but do say a second closed beta on consoles is planned for
next month. They also offer some details on what they've learned from previous
testing. "We received a lot of valuable information from the recent PC and
console betas," says Creative Director Julian Gerighty. "We are now scrutinizing
all of the player feedback so we can ensure that The Crew delivers the seamless
open-world experience that meets everyone’s high expectations." Here's more:
This ongoing process has already resulted in some substantial updates to
the game, including everything from the option to fully remove the HUD so
players can enjoy the scenery as they roam freely through a massive re-creation
of the United States (a highly requested featured, Gerighty tells us), to
fine-tuning the collisions to be even more realistic and adding in new visual
effects. Other major enhancements include adjustments to the difficulty (for
example, tweaking the police A.I.) and better integration of the voice chat –
especially helpful when crewing up with other players.
The Fighter Collection announces the Sukhoi Su-27 "Flanker" will be the next
aircraft added to DCS
World, their free-to-play digital battlefield and will also be a free
addition to
DCS- Flaming Cliffs 3. Pre-purchases of DCS Su-27 are underway on the
DCS e-shop, which
carry a 20% preorder discount, a 20%
bonus
discount on a future purchase, and access to Su-27 beta testing beginning
November 15th. Here's a
video with a short work-in-progress look at the Russian fighter, including a
depiction of Pugachev's
Cobra, a demanding maneuver which can only be performed by a handful of the
world's most advanced aircraft. Here's word: The Su-27, NATO codename
Flanker, is one of the pillars of modern-day Russian combat aviation. Built to
counter the American F-15 Eagle, the Flanker is a twin-engine, supersonic,
highly manoeuvrable air superiority fighter. The Flanker is equally capable of
engaging targets well beyond visual range as it is in a dogfight given its
amazing slow speed and high angle attack manoeuvrability. Using its radar and
stealthy infrared search and track system, the Flanker can employ a wide array
of radar and infrared guided missiles. The Flanker also includes a
helmet-mounted sight that allows you to simply look at a target to lock it up!
In addition to its powerful air-to-air capabilities, the Flanker can also be
armed with bombs and unguided rockets to fulfil a secondary ground attack role.
Su-27 for DCS World focuses on ease of use without complicated cockpit
interaction, significantly reducing the learning curve. As such, Su-27 for DCS
World features keyboard and joystick cockpit commands with a focus on the most
mission critical of cockpit systems. Continue here to read the full story.

KillHouse Games announces that Door Kickers is going to bust down the barriers
to a full release on October 20th, which is when the police tactics game will
leave early access. A new

GfK Chart-Track offers its new U.K. sales charts for last week. The upgraded
PC top 30 (formerly a top 20) sees Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor entering
at number two (remaining in the shadow of The Sims 4) and Crimes & Punishments:
Sherlock Holmes solving the top 10 to enter at number six. On the
all platforms chart Shadow of Mordor also enters at number two, Forza
Horizon 2 pulls in at number three, and Super Smash Bros. breaks in at number
four, while FIFA 15 continues to kick ass in the top spot. Here's their
write-up, which couldn't possibly include as many puns as ours: ‘FIFA 15’
is imperious at No1 for a second week, despite the arrival of three new games in
the Top 5 and a 70% drop in sales.
‘Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor’ from Warner Bros. charts at No2 with the
biggest launch for a game based on The Lord of the Rings. Sales are split 56% on
PS4, 41% on Xbox One and 3% on PC. ‘Forza Horizon 2’ starts its engines at No3
(73% of sales on Xbox One and 27% on Xbox 360) ahead of 3DS Amiibo-ready ‘Super
Smash Bros.’ one place behind at No4. No1 three weeks ago, ‘Destiny’ (-30%) has
to settle for No5 this week.
The launch of the PS4 version of Minecraft gives Sony’s versions of the ever
popular block building title a boost, pushing ‘Minecraft: Playstation Edition’
(+176%) up from No9 to No6 with 64% of sales going to PS4 and 36% to the
original PS3 version. ‘Minecraft: Xbox Edition’ (+0%) drops from No4 to No8, but
will no doubt bounce back with the launch of the Xbox One version later in the
year.
‘Disney Infinity 2.0’ (-26%) slips from No3 to No7, while ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’
(-12%) and ‘The Sims 4’ (-18%) hang on to a Top 10 position, falling to No’s 9
and 10 respectively. Ubisoft’s ‘Watch Dogs’ (-28%) is not so lucky, dropping out
of the Top 10 for the first time, down from No6 to No11. The only other new
entry to make the Top 40 this week is ‘Crimes & Punishments: Sherlock Holmes’
from Focus Home Interactive/Koch which debuts at No27.
I'm a little sleep deprived the past couple of days after banging my shoulder,
which left it pretty painful to the touch. I sleep on my side, and it turns out
I roll over frequently, as I've been waking myself up with pain every time I
turn on my left. Last night was better, though, so I expect to be over by
tonight. It's just weird to realize just how much movement is involved in
sleeping... maybe I could use wrist and ankle weights for some subconscious
exercise.
