Oculus Rift held an Oculus Connect conference in Los Angeles yesterday,
unveiling a new virtual reality headset prototype dubbed "Crescent Bay," because
codenames.
Ars Technica has details on the new units, which include improved optics,
higher resolution, a higher refresh rate, and 360 degree head tracking (keeping
our dreams of an exorcism simulation alive). Also,

John Carmack's keynote address at the gathering, where the Oculus VR CTO
fills us in on the state of their virtual reality headsets and video gaming in
general. The clip runs over 90 minutes, and will leave you with an undeniable
nostalgia for cargo pants.

Anyone else watching
The Knick? The throwback hospital drama has quickly
become one of my favorite shows. The subject matter is interesting, and the
setting even more so... There have been countless movies and shows set around
the turn of the 20th century, but they are almost always obsessed with the
dwindling western frontier, rather than the progress in urban centers behind
that dynamic, and I find the depiction of the transition from gaslight to
electricity fascinating to see.
