Trion World announces today is the official launch day for
ArcheAge, their fantasy-themed
sandbox MMORPG. They celebrate the news with
a new trailer and
this note from the team.
Unfortunately, not everyone is celebrating, as the reported
unrest from founders during the game's head start phase has given way to
unhappiness at the launch, as Trion is now selling starter packs
felt by some to be better than the more expensive founder's packs. Here's
word: The time has come! ArcheAge, the long awaited, free-to-play fantasy
sandbox MMORPG from Trion Worlds and Korean game developer XLGAMES, officially
launches today. ArcheAge is an MMORPG adventure where players can choose their
own paths and progressions and create a world where the possibilities are
endless. From building elaborate homes and farms, and sailing ships to faraway
lands to construct castles, ArcheAge’s PvP system allows players to fight for
glory in huge battles on land or sea, or live the life of a pirate free from
constraints! Continue here to read the full story.

A
Steam community announcement has details on an update for
Borderlands on Steam to
replace the game's defunct GameSpy multiplayer support with Steamworks.
This page has instruction on how to update your copy of Gearbox's
role-playing shooter, including details for those who have not previously
installed the game under Steam. The instructions say the update will come
later this summer, but that first announcement indicates this is live now. Word
is: "If you have a physical DVD of the game, don’t forget you can get the
Steamworks version by running the “Granting Tool” in the “Tools” section of
Steam." Thanks
Destructoid.
Larian Studios is offering new free DLC for Divinity: Original Sin
through Steam, an update
titled The Bear and the Burglar which adds two new characters to the RPG
sequel. Here's word: The Bear and the Burglar adds 2 new optional
characters to your party: the rogue Wolgraff and the ranger Bairdotr. Uncover
the mysteries of their pasts and determine their futures!
Wolgraff
"Wolgraff gives you a knowing look. He seems to think the mayor is a few
arrows short of a quiver." Dark Sourcery deprived Wolgraff of his voice when
he was but a kid, and with it his dream of becoming a Source Hunter. Refused by
the Order, he grew up to become a rogue, stealing from the rich and giving to...
just himself actually. His is a world of silence, but if need be he lets his
dagger do the talking for him.
Bairdotr
"You seem strong as mother, though your chest is not quite so hairy. Your
sword may come in handy when we find who I seek." Armed with her bow on her
back and her claws at the ready, Bairdotr refuses to fail: She must navigate
your world-- a world of wonder and mysteries both fantastic and terrible-- if
she's to save Homeforest. The druid of the forest has been kidnapped, and
Bairdotr must follow a scant trail of clues if she's to bring him back-- clues
that take her to the very heart of Rivellon's Source conspiracy.
Just a few weeks after warning FIFA 15
players that coin selling and buying could earn a ban from the association
football/soccer game,
EA announces they are dropping coin trading from the game altogether to end
the game coin black market (thanks
CVG). Here's word on why we can't have nice things: We’ll be removing
Trade Offers from FIFA 15 Ultimate Team.
Although some honest players used this feature to trade with friends, it became
one of the methods used by coin sellers to sell and move coins. Account phishers
also abused Trade Offers by moving stolen players and coins after wrongfully
gaining access to unsuspecting FUT player accounts.
This will also address “bid bumping”, where people would try and trick others
into bidding far more than they wanted for a player item.
It was a tough decision, but this is the right step towards improving security,
showing cheaters the red card, and keeping FUT safe for all FIFA fans.
The Legend of Grimrock website
now features a countdown timer that looks like it should hit zero around 4:00 pm
EDT tomorrow. Developer Almost Human
recently announced
Legend of Grimrock 2 is in beta testing and that they are working on an
iOS edition of Legend of Grimrock, but there's no clue on the website whether
this timer relates to either of those games, or something else, but it seems we
shall know soon enough. Thanks Steingrimur.
Webzen now offers the first expansion for
Archlord 2, saying this marks
the end of the open beta for their brutal PvP MMORPG.
This update has details on the new version, which raises the level cap,
activates their Archlord system, and carries a few launch bonuses. Word is:
"With this first major content update, Archlord 2 offers an increased level cap
for characters, going from level 41 to level 46. In conjunction with this
increase, players can explore new areas and quests, a new contested area,
multiple new instanced dungeons, a whole new tier of equipment and the titular
Archlord system. To celebrate the launch, a login event has been organised for
the players, rewarding them with pieces of an uncommon Avatar Set, a powerful
armour, each week. The event starts today and will end on 13 October 2014."
Half our four-player crew bailed last night, so MrKawfy and I were inspired to
fire up some Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter for a little two-player co-op.
I enjoyed the rerelease when it came out, but delving into it further was a ton
of fun, as I'd forgotten just how committed the game is to fast-paced shooter
action, which never fails to make me happy.
