A report from
Reuters from Friday adds a rumored detail to
the rumor that Microsoft
is in the process of acquiring Mojang, saying a deal could be announced as soon
as tomorrow. The report attributes this to "a source briefed on the matter,"
which begs the question of why blabbermouths are being briefed on confidential
matters. This also ups the ante on the deal, which was to be for two billion
dollars according to the initial reports, as the Reuters' story pegs the
purported deal's price-tag at $2.5 billion. Thanks

Trion Worlds
tweets that they are currently battling a denial of service attack: "Hey
folks - Wanted to be open with everyone: Yes this is a DDoS, and yes we're all
over it. Stay tuned for updates." The most recent update on this was
a few hours
after the first, saying: "We're still in the midst of a DDoS attack, but our
teams are hard at work to get you back in the game." This will likely complicate
Trion's efforts at ironing out
head-start
issues in
ArcheAge,
their new free-to-play MMORPG. Thanks

I'm rereading Casino Royale after finding I could borrow it through Amazon
Prime. Since the last time I read the debut James Bond novel, I have learned a
few superficial things about gambling from watching pro poker on TV, and was
amused by a detail of the story: In the climactic hand in the book's baccarat
game, besides Bond completely slow-rolling Le Chiffre, he also gives off a
couple of huge tells after getting two terrible cards, even though his opponent
was yet to act. Considering they were playing a game almost entirely based on
luck, this would seem to qualify Bond as the worst gambler in the world, rather
than the best in MI6, which is ostensibly why he drew the assignment. Trendiness
aside, changing the game to Texas Hold 'Em for the movie was a prudent move.
