Steam News announces
that Lords of the Black
Sun is out of early access and now officially available on Steam, with
the Arkavi Studios' strategy game carrying a 15% launch discount. Here's word on
the launch and plans for further localizations: Today is a joyful day for
the Arkavi development team, as we conclude the Early access stage on Steam and
move on to the game’s release.
On the other hand we are looking forward to the future, as Lords of the Black
Sun may have reached “version 1.0” without that meaning that we think our work
on the game, our first game, is done.
Indeed, despite the transition from Early Access to release, we are still very
much committed to improve Lords of the Black Sun as much as possible.
As such, we are looking forward to any bug reports and suggestions you may have
so we can keep on balancing the game and fix whatever issues may arise. We have
not slept a lot lately but are standing by this weekend !
We also wanted to take this opportunity to thank Early Access players for the
confidence shown in our team and the game’s development, and for all feedback
given. We hope you are pleased with the improvements made during the past 9
months.
One of our short term goals in development is integrating German and Russian
languages in the game. We will keep you updated on any other stuff too, but
meanwhile have fun!
Trion Games announces the headstart period is underway for
ArcheAge, their free-to-play
MMORPG. This is to allow Founder's to get first crack at the game, and should
pave the way for an official launch on September 16th. Unfortunately, they also
announce they've encountered some issues that are interfering with how the
headstart is supposed to work. Here's word: Greetings Founders!
We’ve determined two known issues with Head Start. Some Founders haven’t been
granted their Patron status, placing them in the general queue instead of the
priority queue and having gameplay impacts as well. Additionally, some players
have also not received their Founder’s Pack perks.
The whole team here is working to resolve these problems as quickly as possible.
The forum thread linked below will be updated as this issue is addressed.

saying the off-road racing game is now due on October 28th for Windows, Xbox
360, and PlayStation 3, after previously being slated for release on October
7th. No specific reason for the delay is offered.
A
Kickstarter announcement for Distance informs us we can expect Refract
Studios' "experimental survival racer" will get its initial release through

user-created levels. They say to expect further details and a more specific
release date soon. Here's a
recent trailer from

Here's a
release trailer from Silence of the Sleep (apologies for mistakenly
calling this Silence of the Deep at first), celebrating plans to
release this psychological horror/adventure game
on
Steam on October 1st ("less than three weeks from release trailer" doesn't
roll off the tongue). Here's word: "You play as a man called Jacob Reeves. A man
who has lost his reason to live. He throws himself into a blackness to end his
misery, but instead of it being the end he wakes up without a memory of his life
before. You will travel through the abstract world of Silence of the Sleep to
find the very reason for your journey... " Continue here to read the full story.

Matrix
Games announces that Battle Academy 2 is now available through
their online store and
on Steam, carrying a $10.00 launch discount for early adopters of the
strategy sequel. They celebrate the news with a new
teaser trailer and a
new gameplay trailer.
Here's the deal: June 21, 1941 – German troops cross the border in
Soviet-occupied Poland and instantly break the Non-Aggression pact between
Germany and the USSR. This massive and brutal operation opened a huge new front
in Europe. While the initial advance was fast and surprising enough to allow the
Germans to reach the gates of Moscow, the invaders quickly had to deal with a
valiant resistance from the Red Army and endure the tough Russian winter. Soon
the Eastern Front became the most ruthless and bloodiest front of the entire
war…
In Battle Academy 2, players can join either side and re-fight some of the key
operations that made the east front legendary. Not only does this sequel capture
the essence of the gameplay of the series that made Battle Academy so successful
and accessible but also introduces numerous features for a brand new tactical
experience. 4 story-driven campaigns, a random map generator, multiplayer modes
with cooperative and versus gameplay, a unique skirmish mode that allows to
generate an infinite number of customized scenarios and much much more. The
Eastern Front is waiting for the most demanding strategy gamers! Continue here to read the full story.
A
report on games.on.net says the price of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
on Steam in Australia jumped from $49.99 to $71.99 with no explanation, as WBIE
declined to comment when the site asked about this (they also note that there is
still the chance to get Shadow of Mordor down under cheaper through
Green Man Gaming). This echoes
their recent story about other price increases in the region discussing a
whopping 80% spike to the price of Civilization: Beyond Earth and a
$15.00 jump for Watch Dogs as well as earlier instances of sudden
inflation for Borderlands 2, XCOM, Fallout: New Vegas, and
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. They tag these price changes as the
Australia Tax, though
there's no firm explanation of why this is happening. Perhaps it's to bankroll
future potential AU
refunds?
The Transverse website has added a
$500,000 initial goal for the fundraiser for Piranha Games' recently announced
space-flight MMORPG, and announces if this goal is not met, all pledges will be
refunded. This increases the chances the campaign will succeed, but at this
point this still seems farfetched, as the project has only attracted $6,930 as
of this writing. There's also a
new video from
Transverse discussing player progression. Finally, after the developer was
shadowbanned
from its own subreddit, they are back in control of the channel, though as
noted on
IncGamers, they've had to lock it down to deal with "negative swarming and
spamming behavior." Continue here to read the full story.
