Capcom Unity announces Resident Evil Revelations 2, revealing the
survival/horror sequel is due early next year for Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox
One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Details are scant for now, though they do
offer a concept teaser
trailer for the game, a stylized slow-motion clip which may harbor some
secrets, as the description says: "Hidden secrets beckon to be discovered by
anyone with eyes and wits sharp enough to find them." Here's what they are
saying about the game and the clip for the moment: "Big news today! The horror
and suspense of Resident Evil Revelations will live on in Resident Evil
Revelations 2. There's a lot to talk about with this title, but for now we're
gonna be a little naughty and let this concept teaser pique your interest.
Hmmm... lots to consider after that. BUT for the time being we have to wait for
further information. That said, savvy RE fans know there are a few important
shows left in 2014 to discuss this title, so hopefully the wait won't be toooooo
long?" Continue here to read the full story.

The
Roberts Space Industries website has word that those who attended DragonCon
2014 over the weekend received codes to activate a special five-day free trial
version of Star Citizen's Arena Commander module, offering a chance to
check out the upcoming space combat game (thanks
charlie brownau).
There doesn't seem to be a way for others to participate, but it's interesting
they feel the game's progress warrants this already. Here's word on how this
works: Roberts Space Industries is proud to offer DragonCon 2014 attendees
with a free flight week-end to try out Star Citizen’s Arena Commander module! If
you have a valid code given to you on the floor of DragonCon 2014, paste it
below to activate the Dragon Con free flight weekend on your account!
With this pass you will be able to download and install the game, walk around
the Hangar Module and sit in an
RSI Aurora trainer ship that you can then take into flight in Arena
Commander. Once activated the pass is valid until September 5 2014!
Atari revealed new details on Alone in the Dark: Illumination at PAX Prime over
the weekend, as they promised when they announced PureFPS's survival/horror reboot
a couple of
weeks ago. They have updated the Alone In The Dark website
with a new teaser trailer for
the project showing some of its titular darkness and
illumination, though it turns out you are not quite as alone as you might like.
The game is due this fall, and here's more on what to expect: Largely recognized as the “Father of the Survival
Horror Genre,” the original 1992 Alone in the Dark title became an instant
classic as it forged its way as a leader in the 3D PC games category . The new
PC edition, Alone in the Dark: Illumination, takes the survival horror genre to
the next level with new features, including the power of illumination and a
cooperative multiplayer mode. To survive, players must fight through challenging
missions and dynamic environments filled with blood-thirsty beasts in order to
rid an abandoned town of its mysterious curse of Darkness, and free fellow
playable hero characters including the Hunter, Witch, Engineer and Priest – each
armed with a unique set of special abilities and weapons. Continue here to read the full story.
Atari also fulfils the
promise of more details on this autumn's Haunted House reboot, revealing the
title of this as Haunted House: Cryptic Graves, revealing its developer
is Dreampainters, and serving up a
teaser trailer on the
game's official website. Here
more on the game: The upcoming PC version of Haunted House: Cryptic Graves
is a terrifying, first-person single-player adventure-horror game filled with
cryptic puzzles, supernatural entities and paranormal activity. Gifted with
psychic abilities, players must use their unique powers to purge the spirits and
monsters that infest the Abbadon Grange estate. For example, players can
communicate with the dead to decipher puzzles and avoid deadly traps, and use
additional powers to craft objects that eradicate gruesome ghosts. The original
1982 Haunted House title is also recognized as one of the earliest pioneers in
the horror-adventure genre. Continue here to read the full story.

GFK Chart-Track's full-priced U.K. PC games chart. The top new(ish) entry on

while Madden NFL 15 debuts at six. Here's the
rundown of the new action: Deep
Silver/Koch Media celebrate their first No1 of the year.

Ten Ton Hammer - The Cult of Star Citizen's Delays.
These delays come rapidly, over and over again, with every single update.
It can range from a month to a six months to more of delays while features
like towels are added to the hanger module. Even these delayed updates are
just… micro-updates filled with some random content they’re rolling out and
more stuff to sell in the store.
It’s so hilariously transparent that this isn’t about making a game anymore,
but more so about exploiting a community of zealous fans who will spend as
much money as humanly possible to make sure that they’re right. Chris
Roberts tapped into a group of extremely proud loyal warriors who will fight
the good fight for the game, and take any blow as a success - nay a victory.
The harsh reality is that Chris Roberts isn’t making vaporware, he’s making
cash. He’s making a lot of it and the community is fully supporting his
actions, like some kind of weird religion where paying to Chris Roberts
absolves you of your sins buying lollypops in Candy Crush Saga.

Happy labor day to those here in the U.S. who are celebrating by not laboring.
Yesterday turned out to be the washout I anticipated, so I actually cooked
indoors last night (Manstovia is on the other side of the house from the
kitchen, so hopefully none of the citizenry spotted my heresy). Things look
nicer out there today, so there may still be a chance to celebrate the holiday
with a little grilling. Speaking of celebrations and memorials, yesterday would
have been Hudson the wonder dog's 14th birthday, and since this was always an
excuse to indulge both doggies, the Gunnar-man got some extra attention to
celebrate, which was nice.
