The EA Sports website prepares for the upcoming release of
FIFA 15 by
warning against cheating in the sports simulation, also warning that buying and
selling game coins is likewise not allowed, saying they've "banned hundreds of
thousands of FIFA 14 accounts for coin selling and buying" since February
(thanks
Gamasutra). The outline a three-strikes policy for coin "buying & promoting"
and a zero-tolerance policy for "coin selling & framing." Here's their stance on
cheating:
Although they are a minority amongst FIFA fans, cheaters disrupt
the gameplay experience and enjoyment for honest FIFA fans in a number of ways.
These include things like overloading servers, phishing and compromising other
player accounts, and participating in the unauthorised exchange of virtual
currency. It’s time for us to draw a clear and strong line against cheaters who
negatively impact the FIFA experience for our millions of players
online.
The
Nevada Secretary of State website indicates that West Game's business
license was not renewed after expiring on Wednesday, suggesting the Las
Vegas-based developer may have closed up shop. West Games has been trying to
raise funds to develop a survival shooter called
Areal, and took funding
in-house
last month after
their Kickstarter
was suspended amid
skepticism
about the project's plan and the developer's bona fides. The
Areal website is still online,
however, showing they have collected $12,900.00 of their $50,000.00 goal. Thanks
Rhialto.
The
GameFly Website indicates
that GameFly has sold the digital distribution side of their business to a
company called AtGames Holding, presumably to focus on the rental side of things
(thanks former GameFly subsidiary
Shacknews). Googling AtGames turns up nothing but a
Shacknews story from earlier this month about reviving the ColecoVision, but
there's a pop-up saying the company has been around since 2001 and "sells and
distributes various products." What does this mean to customers? Apparently not
much for now, according to their update:
GameFly digital customers:
GameFly has sold its digital download business to AtGames Holding Ltd. GameFly
will continue to operate the digital download business for AtGames until later
this year or until the transition is complete.
The
Interbellum website has word that
Interbellum is now available
on Steam, or at least
we're pretty sure it says that (the site is in Russian). The indies strategic
RPG was previously released through other distributors, and
there is an update saying that those who bought the game from their website
and IndieGameStand have been sent Steam keys, while those who bought it through
IndiGala should receive Steam keys next week. Here's word on the game:
You
play a young beardless dwarf who dreams about adventures and heroic deeds.
Usually dwarves have beards, but for some mystical reasons beard of our hero is
not grows. So he decide to make a journey with his friend the bat to solve this
problem. During the game you control a group of units each with its own
specialties and features. Units can get levels and transform into other forms by
your choice. Combats is turn based but fast due to clever control
system.
When I had arthroscopic surgery on my knee a bunch of years ago I surprised the
doctors by insisting on general anesthesia because I was too squeamish about
knowing what they were doing, compared to some who eagerly watch the whole thing
on the monitors. Watching the most recent episode of Hard Knock on HBO following
an NFL training camp showed a knee surgery in action, and I couldn't be happier
about that long ago decision. The operation they showed was a reconstruction,
not just a clean up as mine was, but even the clean up part was gruesome. I
could handle watching it happen to someone else, but I would not want to have
been awake while they were doing anything like that to me.
I see from a couple of posts that in pointing the way to the
Blue's News ESPN Pigskin Pick'em Group I failed to point to where to find
the super secure password, which can be
found here. Feel free to join in.
