Tiny Build Games announces
BOID, a stripped-down real-time strategy game they
describe like this: "An indie multiplayer RTS that strips out all the clutter
and builds upon the core mechanics of tactical competitive strategy." They
showed off BOID behind closed doors at Gamescom and promise a more public
presence at PAX Prime to unveil it further. In the meantime, they offer
this trailer with a
look at the game, and the following rundown:
We've been playtesting BOID
this week at Gamescom in private playsessions, and found that users initially
think it will play just like other simplified RTSes (Galcon for example), but
about 2 minutes into the match you realize it's a different game.
Main difference is it's super-fast multiplayer focus, and unit classes. You
begin with a spawner-base, a base that creates normal units. Normal units are
weak and slow-ish. In the beginning of each match it's up to you to decide -- do
you go for more spawn-bases, or take over a Class base? Class bases turn your
units into Scouts, Warriors, Kamikadzes, etc - and allow you to play the game
with a very strategic approach. We will be showcasing BOID alongside
SpeedRunners and Lovely Planet at PAX Prime. Stop by and challenge the
developers to a match!
