The stream of unconfirmed reports of internal turmoil at Crytek continues, as a
new rumor on Kotaku says
Homefront: The Revolution game director
Hasit Zala has resigned from Crytek U.K., attributing this "to three people
familiar with goings-on at the studio." According to one of their informants,
it's been "a long time" since employees there have been paid. And one of their
sources indicates this resignation leaves a power vacuum: "It creates a weird
scenario as there are now no upper management," said a person connected to
Crytek UK. "Everything is just continuing on a downwards spiral." They conclude
saying Crytek declined to comment on this story, saying they've sent the German
developer nearly a dozen requests for a response to these ongoing rumors over
recent weeks. Thanks nin.
AMD now offers a new beta release candidate version 14.7 driver for AMD/ATI
graphics cards running under Windows (thanks
DSOGaming). Though a release candidate, these are still in beta, so all
warnings about protective clothing and avoiding open flames should still apply.
Here's word on what's new:
- Includes all improvements found in the AMD
Catalyst™ 14.6 RC driver
- AMD CrossFire™ and AMD Radeon™ Dual Graphics
profile update for Plants vs. Zombies
- Assassin's Creed IV - improved CrossFire scaling
(3840x2160 High Settings) up to 93%
- Collaboration with AOC has identified non-standard
display timings as the root cause of 60Hz SST flickering exhibited by the
AOC U2868PQU panel on certain AMD Radeon™ graphics cards. A software
workaround has been implemented in AMD Catalyst 14.7 RC driver to resolve
the display timing issues with this display.
- Users are further encouraged to obtain newer
display firmware from AOC that will resolve flickering at its origin.
- Users are additionally advised to utilize
DisplayPort-certified cables to ensure the integrity of the DisplayPort
data connection.

Seeing reports of plans for today's World Cup final are a little scary, as they
seem afraid of how Argentinean fans will react to either a victory or a loss, a
Kobayashi Maru scenario worthy of Captain Kirk, as well a group therapy for an
entire country. Here's hoping it's a good match and that cooler heads prevail
regardless of the outcome.
