The
hands-on Battleborn preview on GameInformer.com is the latest
installment in their month-long coverage of Gearbox's just announced shooter.
While their
previous article on
the game was a
an interview where Gearbox explains Battleborn is not actually a MOBA, the
new preview makes a lot of MOBA comparisons to the game's Incursion mode. Here's
a bit:
I'm not a MOBA player, but Incursion mode makes me understand why
so many players adore games like League of Legends and Dota 2. But unlike those
games, where players click on measly minions until they die, shooting and
slashing at Battleborn's NPC robots feels far more satisfying. Their armor dents
and falls off as you take them out, which makes me feel like a badass even if
I'm not battling other human players. I also really like the reliance you have
to have on your mini-map to constantly track other players. I love marking
enemies, calling their positions out to my teammates, and coordinating attacks
to wipe out threats as they appear. Battleborn's slick first-person shooting
makes me feel like my individual skill is of more use in these tug-of-war
battles, rather than clicking around an overhead map.
A
video interview from
UbiBlog speaks with producer Sébastien Labbé from the show floor at E3 2014 to discuss keeping
Rainbow Six Siege a secret prior to revealing the shooter sequel at the trade
show, as well as what to expect from the game. Here's word from the UbiBlog:
How
do you keep a game like Rainbow Six Siege a secret? Well it’s certainly not
easy. We snagged a few minutes with Producer Sébastien Labbé on the show floor
at E3 2014 to discuss the Ubisoft press conference’s biggest surprise, what
Rainbow Six Siege really is, and why every choice matters. Check out the full
interview in the video below.
Rainbow Six Siege aims to take full advantage of what the next-gen consoles have
to offer, and will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2015. At E3 we showed
off the Hostage Rescue mode, which features fast-paced 5v5 combat that puts you
in the shoes of either a defender guarding a hostage and fortifying your
location, or an attacker breaching said fortifications to extract the hostage.
But as you heard in the video above, that’s just the beginning of what Rainbow
Six Siege has to offer. Keep an eye on the UbiBlog in the coming months for more
details.

Another
E3 video interview
from the UbiBlog discusses
Assassin's Creed Unity, the next
installment in Ubisoft's stealth/action series. Here's how
this is explained:
Exclusively on next-gen consoles and PC, Assassin’s
Creed Unity has been fully rebuilt from the ground up. But what’s that mean in
terms of gameplay? At E3 2014, we caught up with Creative Director Alex Amancio,
who gave us a sky-high view of everything that’s new. Along with the seamless
four-player co-op missions, the scale of the city and the sheer number of NPCs
(up to 5000 on screen!), all three pillars of the game have been redefined.
Watch the video to get the scoop on how navigation, stealth and combat will be
radically different in Assassin’s Creed Unity.

I'm a little sad because my week-long pet-sitting favor for a neighbor is
drawing to a close. I've been feeding their guinea pig and gecko while they are
away, but they are set to return this weekend. This isn't really a chore for me
because I like animals so much, and both of them are very fun and cute. In fact,
I've been thinking a lizard might be a good pet to keep me company in my office.
A little Googling shows the leopard gecko they have is an ideal choice for a
beginning owner, though in reading about this topic I've become interested in an
Australian lizard called the blue tongued skink. Though they require a little
more setup than the gecko, they are likewise pretty friendly and hardy, and are
less fussy about diet, so they can subsist fine without having to feed them live
insects (apparently they are like raccoons down under, happily picking through
garbage cans for scraps). Besides, their tongues really are blue... how cool is
that?
