Archived News:
ManiaPlanet Blog has word that the ShootMania Storm Universal Demo is
now available, providing the
promised chance to sample Nadeo's multiplayer first-person shooter (thanks
Frans). This provides access to much of what the game has to offer, including
the editor, but access will be limited after the first 48 hours to one hour of
play, unless there are fewer than 100 concurrent players playing. The demo
is here, and here's word
on what it features: We want that as many players as possible enjoy the
ShootMania and the Maniaplanet experience at their best level. Which means that
now you have access to the following features:
- 3 multiplayer ranked modes: Battle, Elite & Siege
- Full multiplayer experience (Nadeo and
user-created gamemodes and Title Packs)
- Access to all editors (Map, MediaTracker (Video),
Actions & Weapons, Items)
- Custom Titles: solo & multiplayer innovative modes
Several improvements have been made to ShootMania the last months like a
better netcode, many tweaks of gameplay, new blocks. It’s also possible now to
embed 3D objects in the maps of any title!(1)
All these features are available for free the first 48h for the environments you
don’t own and then for an unlimited amount of time for titles with less than 100
concurrent players OR one hour per day otherwise. Download the setup on
www.shootmania.com
Nadeo also announces the TrackMania series has now hit 20 million
installs, and they celebrate the news with the release of
the promised universal demo for
TrackMania 2, the latest installment in the racing series. This is a
feature-rich demo that includes an editor, though following a 48 hour period of
unlimited access, players will have their daily access limited to one hour
unless there are fewer than 100 concurrent players online. Downloads are

Deadstone is a 2D shooter with RPG and tower defense elements that's now available for Windows. One-man
developer Timeslip Softworks indicates an OS X edition is extremely likely to
follow and there will also likely be a Linux edition. A playable demo is
available, and they hope this will inspire support for their
Steam
Greenlight campaign. Here's word: Mars is under siege, and the
colonists are fighting a losing battle. Assume the role of Blake, a private
security operative who crash lands near the colony of Deadstone after fleeing an
outbreak on the Icarus space station.
Guess who just landed the job of sheriff?
To survive, you’ll need to use your combat expertise and lethal firepower, but
to win, you’ll need a strategy. Manage Deadstone’s limited resources, investing
in the right combination of defences, weapons, equipment, and upgrades. Develop
the ultimate fighter to complement your strategy with the in-depth, but
unfortunately named S.C.A.M. character development system. Every time an
infected gets past you, a colonist dies. Can you stem the tide?
75 more titles got the Steam Greenlight today,
Valve announces, saying they were approved via the same process they've used
in the past, and that they will roll out on an individual basis as they are
completed.

Wow, has it been a year already? I guess so, as it's
7-Eleven-Day once more, a
chance to get something for nothing, and this year the festivities will be
extended into a week-long deal to promote their mobile app, which is cool, no
pun intended. As is usually the case in July around here, the timing is
excellent, as it's been pretty hot lately, making for perfect Slurpee weather.
