A
tweet
from Alien Isolation says that the version of
Alien Isolation shown
with the Oculus Rift at E3 was just a prototype, and that Creative Assembly does
not have a full VR version of the survival/horror game in the works: "What we've
got at the moment with @oculus is a prototype, there's no full game in dev :)"
Eurogamer has a statement from SEGA indicating they agree the Rift demo of
the game is awesome, so they are very excited about not making a full version.
Here's the mixed-messages explanation, which a cynic might take as a
solicitation for some Zuckerbucks:
At present, it's just a prototype and
does not represent a game currently in development at this point in time. It's a
truly amazing experience though and brings the game to life in ways we could not
have imagined when we started the project. It's one of the most terrifying demos
you'll ever play.
The
Wings of Saint Nazaire
website has an updated version of the downloadable or web-based demo for
this Wing Commander-style space combat game (thanks nin via
Kotaku). The newish demo went up on June 22nd, but there are no
details on what has changed since the first alpha demo
we reported in January.
The
Dwarf Fortress website
has word that the next major update for
Dwarf Fortress coming this week
after almost two years of development. On a related note,
WIRED (thanks nin)
has details on a couple of mods that can allow players to play the throwback
building game using mods with real-time 3D graphics replacing its bitmapped
ASCII-style graphics that were state-of-the-art in 1986. There are more details
on this week's patch in a
new July
update.
Football Manager 2014 keeps a leg up on the competition in the U.K. on
the
GfK Chart-Track top 20 PC entertainment titles chart, a chart with no new
entries this week. The
all platforms/all prices chart also remains pretty static, and Sniper Elite
3 retains the top spot. Here's the rundown:
Just like its predecessor
Rebellion and 505 Games’ ‘Sniper Elite 3’ takes a second successive week at No1
(-36%).
Ubisoft’s ‘Watch Dogs’ (-20%) takes a third week at No2 and EA’s ‘FIFA 14’
climbs 3 places to No3 (+15%) thanks to some price activity on old gen versions
- this also affects ‘2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil’ which climbs back in to the Top
10 at No8 (+5%). Nintendo’s 3DS ‘Tomodachi Life’ continues to surge up the
charts rising five places to No11 (+53%) thanks to various promotions across
retail. It is a slow week for new releases but the overall market only drops 3%
in units over last week thanks to a surge in the budget sector, climbing 15% in
terms of units sold over last week.
New releases this week mainly arrive on Vita as three versions of existing
titles debut: Ubisoft’s ‘Child of Light’ (No1 on Vita Chart), Sony’s ‘Ratchet &
Clank Trilogy’ (No2 on Vita Chart) and PQube’s ‘MotoGP 14’ (No12 on Vita
Chart).
It was a double-red meat weekend here in the BlueTower, as we imported some lamb
chops last night from the sovereign state of Manstovia. We also got a
demonstration from the Gunnar-man of his improving psychic powers, as he managed
to get a huge pile of oven-fried potatoes to fall off the table through
telekinesis. Well, there may have been some human error involved, but I'm pretty
sure that was psychic powers too. Anyway, that was one happy doggie.
