Cliffski's Blog announces the release of
Democracy 3:
Extremism, a new expansion for Positech's political simulation sequel.
Here's a live-action
trailer, and here's word: This expansion for Democracy 3 adds 33 new
situations and policies that reflect the more extreme side of politics, all
within the framework of a democracy. Fed up with just adjusting taxes and
government spending in the conventional sense? Perhaps you think your people
need the national anthem sung at the start of every news broadcast? or maybe
what they are crying out for is a ban on divorce, or same-sex relationships?
Alternatively you might like to close your countries airports to save the
environment, or maybe outright ban private education? How far to the extremes
can you take your country and still maintain the support of the people (and
avoid some of them putting a gun to your head). Democracy 3:Extremism, for when
fiddling with tax rates simply isn't enough! Continue here to read the full story.
This new trailer
takes us to school for a little Watch Dogs 101, offering more than nine minutes
from Ubisoft's open-world action game. Word is: "Check out the ultimate Watch
Dogs preview and see how to hack the city to make it your weapon. Learn
everything you need to know about the game that defines next gen." They also
note that this will be best enjoyed in high definition with annotations turned
on. Continue here to read the full story.
This new trailer from
GRID Autosport features real drivers and virtual racing to promote the
recently announced next installment in Codemasters' GRID motorsport series. The
new clip offers a tour of Touring in the new game, as described here: "In the
video, gameplay footage of GRID Autosport’s Touring Car discipline shows how
this famously competitive style of racing will be experienced in-game. Cars go
head-to-head in robust packs, with drivers trading paint and crashing out as no
quarter is asked, nor given, out on the track. The video also features Touring
Car racing drivers explaining what players need to succeed in this discipline,
including 2013 BTCC Champion Andrew Jordan from Pirtek Racing, Team Dynamics’
Matt Neal, and Motorbase Performance’s eight-time touring car title winner
Fabrizio Giovanardi who comments, 'You need to be fast, you need to be clever –
it’s a fighting race, not just a speed race'." Continue here to read the full story.
Atari is now offering the promised
Steam Early Access to
Minimum, Human Head's team-based multiplayer crafting and combat game. The
Minimum FAQ offers Minimum
minimum requirements (no way we could resist that), saying: "Anything that runs
typical Unreal Engine 3 games should be sufficient. Our minimum spec is: Windows
7 32-bit, 2GHz CPU, 2GB memory, a DX10-compatible video card and 350MB of hard
drive space." Here's word on the game: Set in a minimalistic stylized
universe, Minimum features fast-paced, session-based combat that pits teams of
five against each other with powerful, craftable weapons. Each team has its own
massive robotic Titan that they must power up and support so that it can help
them fight and destroy the enemy’s base. At the core of Minimum is a blueprint
crafting system where players collect resources to create customized, upgradable
weapons and armor that power-up during kill streaks, enabling skilled warriors
and Titans to become deadlier as matches progress.
"As a company that’s been known for being a gaming pioneer, Atari’s gone through
multiple transformations to bring appealing and unique experiences to the
ever-changing gaming audience,” said Fred Chesnais, Chief Executive Officer,
Atari, Inc. "Minimum ushers in the next era of Atari gaming, with its
distinctive mix of combat and crafting. We’re excited with the way the game
turned out and are thrilled to finally bring Minimum’s exhilarating gameplay to
PC.”
4A Games

achievements as a young studio, and humbled by the response to our output so
far. The team is looking forward to this new adventure." The announcement also
has first word on plans for unannounced follow-ups to their Metro
shooters: 4A Games are renowned for Metro 2033 and its sequel, Metro: Last
Light, based on the novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky. The studio continues to work on
un-announced titles within the Metro universe as well as further, un-announced
projects, powered by their cutting edge proprietary tech, the 4A Engine.

Sam 2 from the effects of the imminent
GameSpy shutdown. They

master server workaround that's already available, and word on plans to patch
semi-official Steamworks support into the shooter sequel: Two solutions
for the GameSpy problem are going to be available for Serious Sam 2. The first
one is available now: the
replacement master
server project by [Rocketers] Alex:

Steamworks into Serious Sam 2 as a sort of official/unofficial patch.
Good news for Sam 2 fans!
They tell me it's all happening at the zoo, and true to that, the Windows
edition of Wildlife Park 3 is now available
on Steam after a
successful Greenlight campaign (oddly, they
bitComposer also announces the first two games in the series are now seeking
Greenlight, in spite of being 11 and eight years old, respectively). Here's word
on the game, which is on sale for 15% off for the next week: Wildlife Park
3 is the latest part of the successful series. As zoo manager, you are
responsible for your very own and unique zoo. Choose from numerous types of
enclosures, park buildings and plants to design an environment appropriate to
each species.
Manage a team of animal keepers, vets, conservationists and maintenance, while
keeping an eye on the zoo’s finances.
Experience realistically animated animals and take care of their specific needs.
If your animals are content, you and your park visitors can look forward to some
offspring soon!
Kotaku - Video Game Preorders Are Out Of Control.
Of all the things wrong with it, I think the worst is just the
embarrassment. Hey, gamers. This is what companies think of you. All your
HYPE and message board partisanship and obsessive need to pre-order (though
note most of these editions don't need a preorder, but come on) a game based
on a title and a trailer has led us to this, the stage where a company like
Ubisoft can lay this out, look at it with a straight face and think, yup,
some of these suckers will pay up, just like they always have.
