The
Windows Compatibility Center now offers a listing for Red Dead Redemption,
the latest suggestion that Rockstar's console western game may yet make its way
onto Windows PCs. This shows the game has been deemed compatible with Windows
8.1, Windows 8.0, and Windows 7, though oddly, this seems to be partly based on
community voting on the game's compatibility, even though PC editions are not
available. Thanks

GOG.com's big Spring Insomnia Sale is now
underway, offering the chance to get up to 90% off on some games, not counting
the 100% discount on some freebies you might encounter along the way. Here's the
outline of how this works: GOG.com has launched the ultimate trans
time-zone deal again: the Spring Insomnia Sale is upon us! Gamers from all
continents will get a chance to get celebrated titles at up to 90% off
discounts-and free games in very limited numbers as well. Starting on Monday 12
May at 2:00 PM GMT and running until GOG.com is out of stock, this promo has
plenty deals worth staying up for. The rules: games will be on sale only one at
a time in limited numbers of copies. When the stock of one game-marked on the
promo page with a counter-runs out, another game is up.
Last year, the event garnered quite a response from various gaming communities
with GOG.com's own forums calling it "a grueling, nightmarish experience with
free games (available for picoseconds) and widespread forum psychosis" all the
while asking for more, 4chan's finest trying to find The Pattern for what game
goes up next, and RPGCodex racing the rest of the 'Net to snatch up all the
cRPG's.
Titles that will be available at some time during the sale will include the new
and old PC and Mac favorites like the naughty point-and-click adventure
Leisure Suit
Larry: Love for Sale, the award-winning exercise in totalitarianism
Papers Please, and the
genre-bending RTS game
Divinity: Dragon Commander Imperial Edition. With critically acclaimed games
from practically every genre GOG.com's Spring
Insomnia Sale is an affair worth following even late at night. Say hello to
sleepless nights again...
Capcom Unity has an update on the status of some of their game's impacted by
the impending end of GameSpy
services. Most of the news is good, though it sounds like online multiplayer
support is ending for Age of Booty and Flock: As you may
have heard, the GameSpy online service will shut down on May 31. This closure
affects online functionality for several titles spanning the entire games
industry, Capcom included. Today we have updates on our titles, so if you
currently own any of the games listed below please take note.
Lost Planet 3 (PC/PS3): Migration to a new service has already begun, so
we're not anticipating any online downtime. However, due to switching servers
the leaderboards and current play stats will be reset. We'll have more
information about the reset soon, so please check back. (Note the X360 version
is unaffected.)
Age of Booty (All versions): Unfortunately there are no plans to update
or migrate this title to a new service. It's been a great ride (2008/09-2014)
and we thank everyone who sailed these seas. You can still play this title
offline or grab friends for some LAN action, however.
Flock! (All Versions): Same as Age of Booty; there are no plans to
migrate this title. You can still download and play the game, but be aware
online features - such as the level editor sharing function - will no longer be
active.
Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition: Already migrated and
there are no issues.
Marvel vs Capcom Origins: Already migrated and there are no issues.
We sincerely appreciate the dedication these games have seen over the years and
hope you continue to enjoy them after the shutdown.
The Full Metal Frenzy DLC
is now available for Gas
Guzzlers Extreme, coinciding a week-long sale on Steam where the racing game
is being offered for 66% off. Word is: "With FULL METAL FRENZY the hi-octane
mayhem that is GAS GUZZLERS EXTREME intensifies, with dazzling new maps, awesome
new cars, exciting new game modes and mega power-ups you just can't be without!"

the old downtown area of the Croatian capital, where the developers of this
game reside !
- Cowboy arena: a huge wild west map where dirt
rules and anything goes.

that extra muscle.

Derby and Domination Derby (all single- and multi-player).

This page has details on
a big "Colony" update that's now live in
Ascent - The Space Game, the PvE
space MMO being supported by a lone developer that's currently available
on Desura and pursuing a
Steam
Greenlight campaign. For those interested, there is a demo version of this
that can be played online
using the Unity player plugin. Here's a quick rundown on all that's added by the
new update:
- Ascent players can now colonize the 270 billion+
outer star systems!
- This feature is a complete city-building sim
included in the existing MMO. Cities can grow to be up to 100km in radius,
and there is no hard coded limit on the number of buildings or colonists.
- Designed to be the new endgame for industrialist
players, Colonization has more depth and complexity than previous features.
- Outer planets generally have very hostile
environments—necessitating the use of Environmental Domes, which are huge
and require a lot of complex materials to construct.
- Players can then program and configure their Domes
into a habitable state by adjusting the radiation, temperature, gravity,
atmospheric composition and pressure inside.
- Colonists can then be recruited and transported to
colonies.
- Colonial farming and mining are more complex and
involved than in the inner system cities players built earlier in the game,
since these new colonies have no starting population, support or
infrastructure, and hostile environments.
Indie "micro studio" osao games announces the release of Chronology
on Steam, offering the
platforming adventure game for 20% off over the coming week. Here's a bit on the
adventure developing this adventure has been: "Chronology has had a turbulent
history after its original developer Progressive Media, closed its doors in
January 2014 after the game has been Greenlit by Steam community. A small
dedicated team of ex-developers, turned indie and opened osao games to continue
the development of Chronology. Scheduled for release on multiple platforms
through 2014, Chronology has already been selected as one of the eight finalists
for the
Nordic Game Indie Sensation Award." Here's word on the
game: Chronology is a mind-bending mix of puzzle, adventure and platform
game where you defy time by manipulating the past and the future, in order to
fix the present. Play as the Old Inventor and his sidekick The Snail, and take
advantage of their special abilities - travel back and forth in time, stop time,
manipulate objects and solve puzzles.
This trailer offers
a look at gameplay from Expedition, the upcoming expansion for Titanfall,
Respawn's mech shooter. Word is: "From Swampland, with its tall trees that offer
new movement strategies for agile pilots to Runoff, an industrial battleground
with long sightlines and Wargames, with its strategic routes that places a
premium on both pilots and titans to use the facility to their advantage,
Titanfall Expedition will deliver more action and intensity for both pilots and
titans alike. Titanfall: Expedition is the first of three planned DLC packs for
Titanfall, with each pack costing $9.99. Players can also purchase the Titanfall

This teaser trailer
teases next game from Kerberos Productions, as they send it along a little in
advance of the announcement of another game from the originators of the Sword
of the Stars series. The video features cinematic 2D animation, and suggests
a light-hearted mad scientist theme, though this is just speculation in advance
of the real announcement. The clip concludes with the URL for the
Kaiju A Gogo website, so this may
be following the Kaiju theme scene in Pacific Rim and the upcoming Godzilla
re-re-remake. There isn't much at the site for now, but it has links to a
Kickstarter campaign which hasn't yet kicked off. Continue here to read the full story.
A
Facebook post from Joe Madureira has word from the Darksiders designer that
the series is not dead, saying he hope to offer exciting news on the franchise
"soon." Word is: "Darksiders-- DS is not dead!!! The new owner, Nordic seems
very committed to continuing the series. As far as my involvement, I can't say
at this point. Hopefully we will all have exciting news about the franchise
soon!!!!!!" Thanks All Games Beta.
GfK Chart-Track's weekly U.K. sales charts are out on their proper schedule this

the form of new RPG title ‘Bound by Flame’ which debuts at No12.
A post on
the
Halo Fixes forum announces plans are in place to save Halo PC multiplayer
support from the upcoming GameSpy
services shutdown (thanks
MP1st). Here's word: I have fantastic news! It will get fixed!! You'll
need to update your Halo install, but then the Lobby will work just as it always
has! (Details on how to update will follow in another post when the update is
ready.)
A small group has been quietly preparing for the shutdown of the GameSpy Master
Server (which provides the list of Halo servers) and they are finally ready to
discuss their work. The group consists of Roger Wolfson aka Sawnose (of Bungie),
Btcc22 (of HAC2), Kornman00 (of OpenSauce) and myself, Technut (of PÕQ Clan).
As a result of their work, especially Btcc22 and Roger, Bungie will be releasing
version 1.0.10 of Halo PC and Halo CE soon, which will include the fix for the
Lobby!
Happy birthday of Florence Nightingale, which makes today
International
Nurses Day. Here's a salute to my two of my cousins who I saw this weekend,
as they are mother and daughter RNs, and by all accounts are excellent dedicated
caregivers.
