The
Arma 3 Website announces the release of
Arma 3 Zeus as free DLC for Arma 3, Bohemia Interactive's
military shooter sequel. Here's word on the DLC and a livestream tomorrow to
celebrate the release: Bohemia Interactive today released the free
Arma 3 Zeus DLC for Arma 3™. Announced two
months ago, Arma 3 Zeus lets people assume the role of Game Master and curate
the multiplayer experience of other players.
As a Game Master, you can view the battlefield from bird’s-eye perspective, and
create, manipulate or expand a multiplayer scenario in real-time. An easy-to-use
editor enables you to spawn units, set objectives, change the weather
conditions, start music, and much more. The result is incredibly dynamic online
combat - in which players have to rely on their ability to improvise and adapt.
- Become Zeus
Assume the role of Game Master and curate the experience of other Arma 3
players. Wielding an intuitive real-time editor, you can manipulate or
expand multiplayer scenarios on-the-fly, and create a surprising flow of
challenges for the soldiers on the ground.
- Enroll As Players
Form a squad, head into battle, and engage in truly dynamic combat. As one
of Zeus' subjects, you need to react to varied objectives, and adapt to
unscripted events on a constantly-evolving battlefield. Improvisation is
your key to success.
- MP Modes
Play Arma 3 Zeus across its distinctive 'Game Master' game type scenarios,
where you start out with a blank canvas. Or visit familiar modes like
'Coop', 'Team Death Match', and 'Sector Control' in a completely new way.
Zeus multiplayer also works with custom player-created scenarios.
The Arma 3 Zeus DLC has been added automatically to the Steam Library
of all owners of Arma 3.
To celebrate its release, the Arma 3 development team will be hosting an
official Arma 3 Zeus Launch Party Livestream this Saturday, April 12th. Starting
at 17:00 UTC, they will present an hour-long Zeus MP session in which the
developers take on the role of Game Master, while various members from the Arma
community will fight as soldiers on the ground. The session will be streamed
live from Bohemia Interactive’s HQ in Prague onto
Arma 3’s Twitch.tv channel.
The
Titanfall website has details on a big patch that's now live for
Respawn's multiplayer mech shooter. This includes some bug fixes specific to the
Windows edition of the game, a bunch of balance tweaks, and the beta version of
a new Private Match feature. Here's word on that: Private Match (beta) -
This is the first public test of our new Private Match mode. This gives you a
way to organize matches with and against your friends, for casual or tournament
play. Some features are unfinished or not yet implemented, and we welcome your
feedback. A few highlights:
- Private Match supports 2 to 12 players, with 1 to
6 players on each team.
- You can start a new Private Match lobby by
choosing it on the main selection screen (alongside Campaign, MP, and
Training). Invite your friends in or have them join you at any time.
- Choose any of the game's maps or modes (CTF, Pilot
Hunter, etc.) to play in.
- Choose which team you're on.
- There is no XP gain, challenge progress, or
achievement unlocking while in a Private Match. For this beta, the Last Game
Summary screen will display what you would have earned in normal play
outside of Private Match, but be aware that this progress will not be
recorded to your lifetime total.
- For this beta, there is no concept of a "lobby
leader"; any player can change game options in the lobby or start/stop the
match countdown.
- All Private Match games are still played on
dedicated servers via Xbox Live Cloud Compute, just like normal matches.
- New options like round time, score limits, and
much more will come in future updates.
Digital Eel announces Infinite Space III: Sea of Stars will officially
enter Early Access next week, offering the chance to check out the next
installment in their far out roguelike-like space series. In the meantime, the
game is available now as an Early Access preview for their backers who pledged
$25.00 or more to the game's
Kickstarter. Here's word in a
an update from yesterday: "While the official Steam Early Access date has
been pushed back a week to 4/18, we have decided to give special early beta keys
to our Kickstarter backers who pledged $25 or more for beta participation. These
keys will start going out tomorrow, and will grant immediate access to the
current work-in-progress version of the game on Steam. Backers in the lower
tiers will start receiving keys after the Early Access launch next week."
There's a
Heartbleed Hit List on Mashable to inform users which of their online logins
were potentially compromised by the Heartbleed SSL vulnerability, covering
everything from social networks to password managers, though the only game they
mention is Minecraft, which Mojang
already addressed. There's also a list
on Ars Technica of vulnerable Cisco products, and while Battle.net was not
exposed to Heartbleed,
Blizzard warns that you should change your password there if you're using
the one you are using on an impacted site. Word is: "We want to emphasize that
Battle.net's encryption was not affected by this vulnerability. However, if you
use the same password on Battle.net that you use elsewhere, your Battle.net
account could be at risk if those sites were affected by this bug."
This
Kickstarter from indie developer Lunar Enigma seeks $49,500 in funding for
Prisonscape, a throwback game where players can live the dream by playing
as a prisoner trying to make it through a prison stint. Here's a bit on the
game: Prisonscape is an adventure/RPG game about the harsh and brutal life
in prison, made for PC, Mac, and Linux.
The focus is on making the best of what you have. Gathering parts and crafting
makeshift weapons, interacting with other prisoners (bartering, forming
alliances, or making enemies) and learning the trade inside the prison.
You can develop your character to be a tough fighter, charismatic manipulator,
intelligent craftsman, or a slimy snake, and the choices you make affect the
story.
The game was heavily inspired by two HBO classics, The Wire and Oz and the art
style inspiration was pulled from SNES classics such as Chrono Trigger and Final
Fantasy 6. What separates Prisonscape from other games of same genre is its
gritty, uncompromising atmosphere - we're not attempting to sugarcoat the prison
life and culture.

Okay, if the
'True Detective' AT&T Commercial isn't the greatest thing you see on the
Internet today, I'll be really upset if you don't send me the link to what tops
it. It's actually from a few days ago, so likewise, if you already saw it, I am
upset with you for not sending it to me already. That's right, you can't win on
this one (except by watching the clip).
R.I.P.:
Joust, Pin-Bot artist Python Anghelo passes away. Thanks nin.
