Switchblade Monkeys announces plans for a PC edition of Secret Ponchos,
their upcoming PS4 spaghetti western game, saying an early access release is
expected later this year. The Secret Ponchos
website has a teaser
trailer showing life in the cutthroat town of Lonetree, and they promise
more news on the game soon, and in the meantime, here's the
announcement: Vancouver-based Switchblade Monkeys is excited to announce
that its spaghetti western multiplayer combat game, Secret Ponchos, is not only
rustlin' its way to PS4, but will also be coming to PC later this year.
The team is busy getting Secret Ponchos ready for a beta launch this summer via
Early Access, allowing them to ensure the final experience on both PC and PS4 is
the best it can be. With a game like this -- which blends exciting arena combat
with the mastery of fighting games -- Switchblade Monkeys feels it's important
to get as many hands on the game as possible during beta. Early Access will help
them do that, while the additional balance and polish will carry over to PS4 and
the final PC version.
"Since we first previewed the game at PAX East there has been an overwhelming
amount of demand to bring the game to PC in addition to PS4, and we always
promised we would do our best," said Yousuf Mapara, creative director at
Switchblade Monkeys. "We realized Early Access would be the perfect program for
this; it creates an environment where we can self-fund development of the PC
version to make it a reality, in addition to exposing all versions of the game
to a broader round of polish and tuning that you can only get when developing
with an actual beta community of players."
The
Bethesda Blog is now serving up a

Here's a new "War Begins"
trailer for Etherium shows the jam-packed battlefields from Tindalos
Interactive's sci-fi RTS game. As this bit describes, the clip introduces the
remaining factions from the game: "While the first video only showed a single
faction--the Consortium--and the sand planet Serenade, today's trailer reveals
all three playable factions locking their troops in battle on two more of the
six planets that will serve as battlegrounds. The ice world Arctis and the
volcanic planet Pilo both provide environmental challenges and unique climatic
events. The first battles promise to be quite intense, and one thing is for
sure: the Consortium, the Vectides and the Intari are in for a large-scale
conflict!" Continue here to read the full story.

confirming indications that a game
set between Borderlands and Borderlands 2 is in the works at 2K Australia, and
that they actually feel a "pre-sequel" is a thing. The game will introduce new

The
USPTO website shows that Activision Blizzard has filed a Trademark
application for Overwatch for
the following services: "Computer game software, computer game discs,
downloadable computer game programs, computer game software downloadable from a
global computer network, electronic games software for wireless devices,
interactive multimedia computer game programs, mousepads, computer mouses,
headsets for use with computers, computer keyboards." Worryingly, the initial
application is dated April 1st, but there is an additional update about this
from yesterday, and Blizzard is never shy about publicizing their April Fools'
jokes. Thanks

Mojang announces its use of
the OpenSSL cryptographic software left its web users vulnerable to an exploit,
so they are recommending users change their passwords (a similar recommendation
is being made for users of
Ars Technica). Here's word: Two days ago a serious vulnerability
(that’s been named “Heartbleed”) in the popular cryptographic software OpenSSL
was made public. This weakness could potentially be exploited to steal
information, such as login information, that normally would be protected by
encryption. This software is used by roughly two thirds of the internet so a lot
of services were or are at risk of being affected.
What did Mojang do?
As soon as we realized the severity of the exploit we decided to shut down all
of our systems until a fix was available. This is why you were unable to log in
yesterday. We then made sure that all of our services that use SSL no longer had
this vulnerability before bringing them back online. We also updated all of our
SSL certificates.
What should I do?
Change your Mojang/Minecraft account password
Since uses of the exploit leaves no traces, there’s no way for us to guarantee
that your password hasn’t been compromised. Therefore, if you typed in your
password into any of our games or websites during the last couple of days we
strongly advice you to change it. Even if you haven’t logged in, it can still be
a good idea the to change your password. One can never be too careful on the
internet!
I finally got to see Man of Steel, as the Superman reboot recently hit
cable. I wasn't too disappointed, since I'd already seen its lukewarm reviews,
but it certainly had a lot of meh to it. The thing is, I think this still may
qualify it as the best Superman movie ever, as I find the first two Christopher
Reeve movies goofy at best (though obviously not as goofy as the two that
followed), and the less said about the Bryan Singer movie the better.
