The
GameInformer website reveals the May cover story for the print edition of

the story adds that Epic is now
accepting applications
to alpha test the game. Signing up is estimated to take about 10 minutes, though
they do not say when testing is expected to begin. They also offer
this teaser trailer
with glimpses of gameplay and developers discussing the game and how much it is
not Gears of War. Continue here to read the full story.

There's now a multiplayer online prototype of
Chaos
Reborn, playable in a browser using the
Unity Web Player. The
Kickstarter page has more details on this tactical RPG remake from X-COM
creator Julian Gollop, and explains the state of the prototype: "A third of the
spells are implemented, but most of the graphics are place-holder and none of
the creatures have animations yet. However, the game is fully functional and
great fun to play. With your help we can implement all the features in our game
design, and deliver the final game to you by spring 2015."
Ubisoft announces The Crew will be released this fall for Windows, Xbox One, and
PS4, offering what they call a "revolutionary" action-driving game set in a
massive, open-world recreation of the United States. They celebrate the news
with a new gameplay
trailer they describe like so: "The Crew’s premiere gameplay trailer,
released today, shows four cars, each in a different iconic region of the United
States, forming a crew to continue their journey together across the living,
breathing open-world." There are more details on
The Crew website. Continue here to read the full story.
Electronic Arts and Waystone Games now offer open beta access to
Dawngate, a new entry in the
ever-more-popular MOBA genre. "We wanted Dawngate to look and feel like a true
MOBA experience, but add something fresh and new to the core design by offering
a flexible Meta to gameplay," said Dave Cerra, Lead Producer on Dawngate. "We
feel that giving players the freedom to tailor each Shaper’s role to their own
personal play style makes a powerful impact in the overall experience and sets
Dawngate apart." Here's more on the game from
the announcement: Dawngate is a multiplayer online battle arena game
that features fast-paced team combat and a flexible Meta that lets gamers play
their way. With the freedom to choose a role that isn’t dependent on the
player’s choice of Shaper, Dawngate expands its Meta by celebrating personal
play styles. Featuring two teams of five Shapers, two lanes and a huge jungle,
the game also introduces unique economy-based objectives like Spirit Wells to
create a new strategic landscape. Each match ends with an intense fight against
the enemy team and their Guardian, and gives players the chance to earn
Blessings from their allies and foes. Blessings are loot drops that reward how
well gamers played, and commends them for teamwork and sportsmanship.
The
Wadjet Eye Games website now offers a playable demo for Blackwell
Epiphany, the concluding installment in this point-and-click adventure
that's due for release for Windows on this month.

City, spirit medium Rosa Blackwell and her spectral guide Joey Mallone are about
to embark on the most important case of their lives (so to speak). Their final
adventure, The Blackwell Epiphany, will release for PC on April 24 -- but you
can get a jump on the mystery today in the demo just released by Wadjet Eye
Games."
Out Of The Park Developments
announces Out of the Park Baseball 15 will ship on April 18th to all
customers who preorder the next installment in the sports simulation series by
the end of April 17th. The game will then be publically released for Windows, OS
X, and Linux on April 21st. "This is the version of OOTP that will set the bar
for all editions of the game to come," says lead developer Markus Heinsohn.
"Support for 3D ballparks and 3D in-game ball flight is the stepping stone to 3D
players on the field next year, and that will open the door to even more
innovations in the years to come." Preorders are being accepted
on this page, which describes the game thusly: New features in OOTP
15 include: Real 2014 Major League Opening Day rosters including full minor
leagues, real rosters from 7 international leagues (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Cuba,
Mexico, Italy and the Netherlands), a redesigned interface optimized for
wide-screen resolutions, 3D ballpark importer & 3D ball-flight in a new game
view, a brand new player rating system, improved AI and accuracy, easier
historical league creation and much more!
In OOTP 15 you guide your team to glory. Set up your roster, trade players,
draft the next superstar, negotiate with free agents, discover talent in the
rule-5 draft, keep an eye on your minor leaguers, scout foreign countries or
other leagues, it's all here. On top of the GM features, OOTP sports a great
baseball simulation engine with stunning statistical accuracy and extensive
play-by-play. It is widely regarded as the most realistic baseball game
available, by far! You call all the shots from the dugout and see the game
unfold before your eyes.

The Windows edition of Watch Dogs will require Ubisoft's Uplay service,
reports
IGN, having confirmed this with Ubisoft. "Like some of our other AAA
releases, including Far Cry 3, Splinter Cell Blacklist, and Assassin's Creed IV
Black Flag," a Ubisoft representative tells them, "Watch Dogs will be available
on Steam and will leverage Uplay to support the games services." The open world
hacking game's full system specs
were recently revealed.
A
new Kickstarter is underway from indie developer Fresh3d for Outcast
Reboot HD, an upcoming well, HD reboot of Outcast, Appeal's 1999
action/adventure. They are looking to raise $600K in funding to bring this to
Windows PCs late next year, with support for other platforms possible through
stretch goals. This comes now because they recently reacquired the rights to the
game, and with much of the original team is involved in development, they hold
out the possibility of a full Outcast sequel if the reboot clicks. "Fresh3d and
a team of world-class developers is working on the game, along with support from
Yves Grolet as gameplay advisor. The studio founded in 2004 and headed by Yann
Robert and Franck Sauer, has a significant experience in developing games for PC
and consoles and has worked on several shipped games on PC, PS2, Xbox 360 and
Xbox One," they explain. "Most members from the core team were present in the
old days, when developing the original Outcast, and we are delighted to have
them on-board to help develop this HD reboot." Thanks Mercenar.

I had to rewatch Game of Thrones to confirm that I wasn't confused about the
recasting of a character, but Daenerys' new friend from last season is even newer this season. The guy
from last season may have been a little too pretty, but having a new guy just
pop up out of nowhere is annoyingly distracting. I'll get over it, but I wonder
what the thinking was there?
R.I.P.:
Standup comic John Pinette dead at 50; acted in 'Seinfeld' finale. Thanks
Mark.
