Broforce is now available through Early Access
on Steam and via Humble
through the Broforce Website. Here's word
on Free Lives' action game: Broforce brings the shock and awe as gamers
across the globe take control of an under-funded, over-powered paramilitary
organization dealing exclusively in excessive force. Stroke your MURDER-BONER™
with up to four friends, locally and online, in non-stop, explosive run ‘n’ gun
action and eliminate the terrorist forces that threaten our way of life. Adapt
your tactics as you select bros from a massive roster of true 80’s and 90s
action heroes, each with unique weapons and abilities. Set off incredible chain
reactions of fire, napalm and limbs in the name of freedom. Then, as the dust
settles, face off against each other in one of many competitive modes. Finally
gain closure by answering important life questions that have been keeping you up
at night: who would win in a flex-off between the Brominator and Brobocop?
The latest update to Broforce delivers a devastating payload of fun with new
gameplay tricks like the Tactical Backflip, new white-knuckle missions, and the
fearless Ripbro - the first female addition to the Broforce team. Broforce fans
will be able to follow progress and receive updates each month before the game’s
late summer launch as new missions, locations, modes, and bros are added through
development.
Steam now
offers Early Access to Viscera Cleanup Detail, an expanded version of the
mini-game offered as a
bonus with the
release of Shadow Warrior.
Here's the unusual twist on this one: Disaster! An alien invasion and
subsequent infestation have decimated this facility. Many lives were lost, the
facility was ruined and the aliens were unstoppable. All hope was lost until one
survivor found the courage to fight back and put the aliens in their place!
It was a long and horrific battle as the survivor duelled with all manner of
terrifying life-forms and alien mutations, but our hero won out in the end and
destroyed the alien menace! Humanity was saved!
Unfortunately, the alien infestation and the heroic efforts of the courageous
survivors have left rather a mess throughout the facility. As the janitor, it is
your duty to get this place cleaned up.
So grab your mop and roll up your sleeves, this is gonna be one messy job.
Today, you're on Viscera Cleanup Detail!
The Planets³
Kickstarter page shows that this open-world voxel-based RPG surpassed its
$250K funding goal, ending its fundraising period with a total of $310,708
pledged. This triggers a stretch goal, so now the game is planned for OS X as
well as Windows, with a release planned in fall 2015. Word is their next step is
to implement a way to support more backers: "Cubical Drift's first priority is
to launch their online store so that all those who couldn’t help on KickStarter
(particularly because Paypal was not available as a payment method) can now
support the project under almost identical conditions as the ones on KickStarter
(some rewards were exclusive to KickStarter). This “special” preiod [sic] will
last 1 month, then the studio will implement a more traditional pre-order
system."
The
Battlefront.com Store now offers sales of Combat Mission: Red Thunder
for Windows and OS X, marking a return to the eastern front of the World War II
strategy series. Here's word on the new standalone game: "CM Red Thunder jumps
right into the thick of the hard fought battles during Summer 1944 when
Operation Bagration took the Soviet forces from the swamps of Belarus to the
gates of Warsaw. Experience the most balanced period of tactical warfare on the
Eastern Front, even as the Axis' strategic ability to wage war began to
collapse. Play out historical battles and campaigns or create your own
customized Quick Battles. All new units, new terrain, and new features make this
a must have for all Combat Mission fans."

A post on
GamePointsNow Blog claims inside details about plans for Borderlands 2
prequel (or what they are calling a "pre-sequel") in development at 2K Australia.
They add that this will be a PS3/Xbox 360 game, though they don't say where
their information comes from. Here's the general scenario they outline: "Set on
the moon of Elpis and Hyperions [sic] ominous H shaped moon base, the game sees
Handsome Jack in the days when he was just a humble programmer called John,
hunting a powerful alien artefact [sic] (what else!!). Players will be able to select
one of Jack/Johns [sic] four lieutenants to play as in Athena The Gladiator, Wilhelm
The Enforcer, Nisha The Lawbringer and Fragtrap, a militarised claptrap." Thanks

Ageod announces Hannibal: Terror of Rome, an upcoming standalone expansion for
Alea Jacta Est, which does not required the base version of the strategy game to
play. As the title indicates, the new game will hop on the back of an elephant
along with Hannibal to take the alpine shortcut to the second Punic War. The
expansion does not yet have a release date, but they promise hundreds of hours
of solo and PBEM multiplayer gameplay when it arrives. Here's a
description: Hannibal: Terror of Rome offers a comprehensive level of
detail and historical accuracy. This is a true simulation that puts you in the
place of the main commanders of the Ancient World. You’re in charge of building,
managing, organizing and maneuvering armies, whilst taking into account the
economic, military and political situation. And do not forget that other
factions are following their own interests and are likely to join conflicts or
take benefits from the wars you will wage.
This expansion is particularly focused on the smaller states and tribes (Capua,
Taranto, Macedonia, Numidia, Syracuse, and Gallic and Hispanic tribes) which
were key allies to the biggest factions vying for supremacy in multiple theaters
of operations.
The
Elder Scrolls Online website explains that Early Access to The Elder Scrolls
Online has concluded, explaining how to take advantage of the 30 days of play
time included with purchases. They also explain that the charges players are
seeing on their bank accounts are just temporary authorization checks that will
be reversed. They also acknowledge a problem with this, as players with
insufficient funds are being kept out of the game after failing this check,
explaining how to contact them to straighten things out: We want everyone
who purchased ESO to have immediate access to the included 30 days of ESO game
time. In the event that you enter your payment information for authorization and
the transaction cancels due to lack of funds in your account, please contact our
Support Team. We’ll work with you to ensure you have access to your included 30
days of game time.
Please ensure that you have attempted to enter payment information and had the
transaction fail due to lack of funds before submitting a help request. We will
get you into the game and playing as soon as possible.
We require you to choose a subscription option and enter valid payment
information. For credit cards, debit cards and PayPal there is no charge made
until after your included 30 days of game time has expired. For these payment
methods, there is an authorization check performed to ensure the payment method
is valid. You may see a temporary account authorization hold put on funds in
your account while the verification completes. Usually this authorization hold
lasts a short period of time before being removed. It can vary from bank to
bank.
If you prefer to use one of the following payment methods, payment is processed
at the time of selecting your preferred subscription plan.

GfK offers their sales charts for game sales in the U.K. for the week ending
April 5th. On the
full-price PC chart The Elder Scrolls Online debuts at number one,
pushing the new Reaper of Souls expansion for Diablo III into the
number two spot. On the
all platforms/all prices chart ESO enters at number two, as FIFA 14
kicks its way back into the top spot. Here's
their summary: EA’s
‘FIFA 14’ returns to No1 (+8%) having last been top of the pile in week 6 this
year.
The title has still not been out of the Top 6 since launch 28 weeks ago and now
has a total of 11 weeks at No1 – a feat that only 4 other titles have managed
(‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’, ‘Wii Fit’, ‘Zumba Fitness’ and ‘FIFA: Road to
the World Cup 98’). Bethesda debut strongly at No2 with the PC version of ‘The
Elder Scrolls Online’ – a first game and 5 years in the making for Zenimax
Online Studios, with PS4/Xbox One versions to follow. EA’s Xbox One/PC
‘Titanfall’ holds at No3 (-36%), with an Xbox 360 version coming next week.
Climbing 4 places to No4 is Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ (+35%)
and boxed product sales of this game are no doubt spiking due to the launch this
week of the second DLC pack ‘Devastation’ on Xbox formats. Konami drop 3 places
over last week at No5 with ‘Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes’ (-46%) and Sony’s
PS4 ‘Infamous: Second Son’ (-55%) drops 5 places to No6 having held on to No1
for 2 weeks. The only other new release within the Top 40 is Tecmo Koei’s
‘Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Complete Ed.’ debuting at No29 for PS4/Vita.

Yesterday was great: It was probably the nicest weather of the year so far,
there were no critters living in the grill, the hamburgers came out great, and
Game of Thrones returned. And not to be outdone, Mad Men returns next
week... good stuff.
RIP:
Hollywood icon Mickey Rooney dead at 93.
