Focus Home Interactive announces Space Run, a tower defense/spaceship
construction games from Passtech Games (not to be confused with
Gratuitous Space Battles
a tower defense/spaceship construction games from Positech Games). The game has
an official website and a
first teaser trailer,
and here's word: We are thrilled to unveil today, with a video, Space
Run. This PC game mixes strategy and space ship construction in real time,
borrowing certain mechanics from the "tower defense" system with numerous twists
and hyper dynamic gameplay. Space Run is a nod to '80s science fiction and pays
homage to many of its tropes and references.
Space Run is a true indie title developed by a "one-man studio", namely Sylvain
Passot who, after spending 10 years in a large French development studio,
decided to develop his own concept, "'Space Run''. Although nowhere near the
scale of the productions he had previously worked on, Sylvain was supported with
enough resources to complete and add the finishing touches to his game, and
Space Run still has plenty of surprises in store with its well-oiled game
mechanics, addictive gameplay and intense, exciting missions. Continue here to read the full story.

"notch" Persson to tweet: "Someone is trying leak the fact that we're
working with Warner Brothers on a potential Minecraft Movie. I wanted to be the
leak!" The Minecraft creator later followed this up with a comment on
Polygon. "It's for real. I think every part of that tweet was real,
including me wanting to be the one to spill the news about a potential movie,"
he tells them. "Also, I [am] very well aware that this might be Minecraft
jumping the shark, but how often do you get to be part of making a movie?"

The Undead Labs
blog offers details on Lifeline, an upcoming DLC pack for State of
Decay, their survival/horror game, saying this will "explore new
perspectives" as it "exposes the military side of the zombie apocalypse" (thanks
CVG). They accurately note that this is a chance to depict the military in a
different role than secondary antagonist in such a game: In zombie
fiction, the military is often the go-to badguy. They’re the hammer to which
every problem is a nail, blindly mowing everything down to serve some unknown
goal.
But this view is fairly one-sided and naïve. On the State of Decay team, we have
a different perspective (some of us firsthand) — the military is made up of many
good men and women who stand on the line that divides safety and civilization
from chaos and war.
Few people have a greater opportunity to make life-altering choices than
soldiers. They’ve played that role as side characters in the original State of
Decay...but now we are adding a new story, in which you take on that
responsibility yourself.
The
Roberts Space Industries website has details on a new version 11.1 patch
that's now available for the Hangar module for Star Citizen, the upcoming
space combat game (thanks
TweakTown). Here are the
complete patch notes: A new Hangar patch is now available via your
launcher! Patch 11.1 adds support for the Oculus Rift to the Hangar module,
which was promised as part of the $12 million stretch goal! Oculus owners can
now get a first look at their ship collections using the 3D headset. Be sure to
let us know what you think! This is a pre-alpha release. There are a number of
known issues regarding the Rift support; a complete list is available in the
patch notes. Please report any additional bugs on the forums!
Years ago I mentioned a quest for the legendary Kosher for Passover Coca-Cola,
which is apparently made with sugar, rather than high-fructose corn syrup. I
never succeeded at this, though I did eventually locate the sugar-based Mexican
Coke. In what was a completely unrelated thought, last weekend I had the impulse
to pick up some Fox's U-Bet syrup to be properly equipped to make egg creams. I
picked up a bottle of the chocolate and strawberry syrups, and each noted that
the corn syrup ingredient is swapped out in favor of sugar during Passover, and
vaguely recalling that we are getting into Easter/Passover season I checked, and
sure enough, this is the sugar variety, which was pretty cool. By the way, for
the record, I don't think HFC is worse for you than sugar (they are each treats,
neither is health food), I just find things sweetened with sugar to taste
better.
