Free Arma III DLC Plans

The Arma III website has the announcement of Arma III: Zeus, a free DLC pack coming to Bohemia Interactive's military shooter sequel in Q2 of this year (thanks Gamer's Hell). Here's a reveal trailer, and here's a bit of the announcement:

Improvisation is the ultimate key to success in Arma 3 Zeus. Inspired by popular tabletop games such as 'Dungeons & Dragons', a limited number of players can assume the role of Game Master, and influence the multiplayer experience of those with boots on the ground. Watching the battlefield from a bird's-eye view, wielding an intuitive real-time editor, Zeus can create, manipulate or expand mission content to generate new stories and a flow of challenges. The result is incredibly dynamic, unscripted combat gameplay - and multiplayer sessions which are filled with unexpected, challenging, and creative events.

The Zeus multiplayer concept works across all familiar multiplayer game types, such as Team Deathmatch and Sector Control, where players can either work with or go up against Zeus. The most distinctive game type in Arma 3 Zeus, however, is ‘Zeus Game Master’. Here, Game Masters are entirely free to create objectives, spawn units, and steer players across Arma 3’s massive Altis and Stratis terrains.

On top of the diverse range of official Zeus scenarios that will be available, Arma 3 Zeus can also be implemented into player-created multiplayer scenarios.

Steamships Ahoy - Eschalon: Book III

Steam News announces that Eschalon: Book III is now available:

Eschalon: Book III brings the trilogy to a climactic end as you seek to uncover the mystery of your past, the secrets of the Crux stones, and who the Orakur really are. You’ll traverse miles of virtual wilderness and dungeons, filled with secrets and danger, in an unparalleled role-playing experience designed to feel like a true pen-and-paper RPG.

Ground Pounders Early Access

Early Access to Ground Pounders is now available through Steam. Here's the explanation from Steam News:

Ground Pounders is a hex-based, turn-based strategy wargame. Inspired by classic strategy games like Panzer General, and steeped in the lore of the Sword of the Stars universe, Ground Pounders offers a new generation of gamers an updated taste of turn-based strategic warfare. Best of all, you can play it cross platform between desktop machine and mobile devices.

Ground Pounders lets players control an army from one of three factions. Each army is comprised of dozens of different unit types. You will lead your ground pounders across a variety of worlds, increase their experience levels and abilities over the course of three campaigns, and use them to unlock special action cards that can add special effects to single-player games, or to up the stakes in your cross-platform multi-player battles.

Out of the Blue

A reminder for those who may not be aware, but we are in the midst of recovering from some hardware problems, so we ask your patience while the site's database functions are restored, which will probably take a few more days. We had some more downtime earlier, apologies for that. And we've gotten a couple of reports of fake AV ad dealies which are obviously sketchy at best, so I've yoinked the ad code until this can be straightened out. Apologies for that as well.

I looked out upon my shoveling handiwork this morning to see that a good deal of our sidewalk had iced over during the night, making it a very hazardous looking skating rink. This set off a mission to find rock salt, which turns out is in extremely short supply at the moment, as there was none to be found in our local hardware store, the Home Depot, or any of the dozens of other places we tried such as AutoZone, a 7-11, and every gas station in the area. We'd completed the full circle and were heading home empty handed when we decided to try the local convenience store, which turned out to have a couple of bags left, in what seemed like a miracle by that point. We had to laugh at that point, because after driving about 20 miles for this, we finally found what we were looking for in what is literally the closest possible store to the BlueTower.
